- Hey fam, I recently upgraded my phone to a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and having a blast playing around with all of its features! In this video, I'll show how I added RUclips to my Android Auto Coolwalk experience in my 2021 Toyota Highlander Hybrid.

At first i was so skeptical installing third party apks on my new Samsung S23 Ultra.. but seeing your video made me install it and now i cant wait to connect my phone tomorrow to my car headunit (both devices, the phone and car head unit have Android Auto capabilities and the head unit itself has Android 10 OS but i feel was a bit too distracting with so much commands and keeping my eyes on the road is more important, so yes, for a beginner user of Android Auto now, i am pretty satisfied with this idea. Less buttons, less stress, convenience of having all with a simple touch, these are important life-savers. Thanks for your video!

This is worth a try! I used to use carstream 2.0.5 but that doesn't seem to work anymore. As my android audio in my car doesn't recognize it. AAAD enabled doesn't work either so the latest version of Android must have changed something with that. So hopefully this will work as a work around.:)
its work well but very difficult to install I try might and I pay 3 dis to aaa to keep install. try....

Thanks! The Plex TV app was pre-installed in CarStream and I rarely use it. I did test it out justfor the heck of it and the live TV streams work fine. Some of the on-demand movies have a 'plug-in error' code when playing after a minute. I should mention that I don't have a Plex account and the test was based on their free content.
I too am having the same issue. I've tried everything I know how and nothing. I also have an S23 ultra running Android 14. Can you offer more troubleshooting advice? Thanks

The only problem with carstream is that there is no
option to split the screen to half carstream for youtube and half waze...for example ehen i open spotify,i can split the screen with waze ...

Thanks, I bought it on AliExpress. Do you have a 12.3" or 8" monitor? Depending on the size, there are two different car mount holders I would recommend.

What are the potential security hazards of installing/using this I wonder? Aren't you essentially allowing an unapproved file onto your phone? Couldn't that result in someone hacking/thieving info from your phone? LOVE the idea, just nervous to let the app in I guess?
Security concerns are always valid, there's plenty of apps in the Play Store that raise the same privacy and security concerns such as TikTok so it's up to the user to decide. I agree that individuals should do their own due diligence when researching the multitude of mirrored sites and 3rd party apps to download from. The CarStream developer has been providing updates to his app since 2017 and communicates on Github with no users reporting any issues. I guess it's a matter of personal risk tolerance if you want to buy an AI box and hope it doesn't go obsolete from an OS software update.

You can access Android auto via the Apps folder>In-app notification settings >Customize Launcher
great video but for some reason car stream wont pop up on my android auto i bought pro version and still wont pop up plz help
What car, phone and version of Android are you running? Can you clarify if the CarStream app is visible in the launcher list?
@@vietbubbletea Probably my issue is similar. Not seeing Carstream on Android Auto V.11.1.640244 Launcher, although when expanding the "Version and Permission Info", Carstream 2.0.5 is on the list, along with Maps, Whatsapp, Google Play...
The carstream on my car screen only show a message : 'No new message during this drive'. What is the problem and how to solve it? Thanks
You must have a Google Pixel huh? They don't like apps like CarStream so your version of AA may not support it as they block other 3rd party apps. You might have a solution if you download this APK, read this thread and you'll see someone provided a download link to it. Good luck, github.com/shmykelsa/AAAD/issues/247

Thank you for the video. But when I did it ,I only got a sound from the video and a message that said to not watch videos while driving. I have a Toyota Tacoma 2019. What can i do to fix that issue. Thank you.
I never had that issue so I'm not sure why... Is the message coming from your Toyota head unit or from Android Auto? Does it work fine when th car is parked?

is there a solution for infotainment systems that are NOT touchscreen? annoyingly enough, my 2022 acura mdx is not touchscreen, and i cannot navigate around carstream to choose any of the apps! annoying as hell! i've tried both carstream and fermata auto. same issue.
Sorry, there's no work around for that, you're stuck with that touch pad unless you decide to go with an aftermarket touch screen product.
@@vietbubbletea I figured as much. My workaround is using Screen2Auto. Thanks for the input. Also, if i go the aftermarket route, i probably won't even need carstream lol
can you have navigation and carstream at the same time?
Not on the multimedia screen at the same time but you can run Google maps from your phone while CarStream is in use

What about updates for Android Auto ? Will it still work ?
The CarStream developer has done a good job providing a new Apk anytime Google has released a new version of AA that becomes incompatible. That's going to be the case for any software update. Currently at the time of this writing, CarStream app is working with the current version of AA.
Car stream icon wont appear on my list of choices even after downloading the packet
Try restarting your phone and go back to customize options as shown at the 8:50 mark to see if it shows up then.

Are you able use the CarStream app on your phone with no issues before hooking it to Android Auto? I've heard others have restarted their phone after the initial setup as well.

No, if your phone is compatible then it will work. The issue some people have is when their OS updates to a newer version, it may stop working until the developer decides to update the CarStream app but that hasn't happened for many years now. Mines still works fine on a Samsung S24

How do you get Android auto coolwalk?
If you have the latest Android OS 13 then you should already have it, you can check your current AA settings to see if the latest version 9.0.630834. If not, you may be running an older version of Android like I did on my Samsung S8 where there were some missing features lik album art on the music player, etc.
can this work with netflix?
Not this specific app, just RUclips with CarStream.
It doesn't let me download carstream.
I just tested downloading CarStream from the AAAD app and it still works.

Yep, doesn't work. Followed steps but not recognized.
Google recently updated their UI in the current Android OS to block apps like this. You'll need to run an older version or root your phone at this point.
How bout iOS??
This app won't work with iOS, you can lookup and download CarTube for Carplay which supports iOS 14 to 15.4.1. If you have iOS 16, you're SOL until it becomes supported.
Do you know a way for apple by any chance ? Lol
I don't have much experience with Apple but I heard that Carbox app worked but not for iOS 16 until the firmware is updated.
