Ay there..I was a pro motor sport photographer for many years here in Australia.
And witnessed quite a few of this crashes. When you spend enough time with these racers, you can’t help but respect there craft and the sport we all know and love. One I didn’t see was Paul Weel’s accident in practice for the Bathurst 1000. Paul, famous for his all alloy racing cooling system manufacture and marketing.. he was a pretty good pedaller.
Had decent finishes and importantly could seriously be in contention given his stats.
This accident ended his career as a driver. And today there are big yellow flashing lights to warn others what is coming in the blind.

Brought back some memories 💨🏁
Paul Weel was lucky.
He was seriously injured, but he survived.
I used to watch this at Bathurst Australia, absolute cracking weekends.

@1:59 you see a car T-Bone another car. Driver Will Davison suffered a broken back as a cause of this crash.

5:49 You don't realise how lucky Paul Weel was with this crash unless you know that two years previously, Mark Porter was killed in a very similar crash near Reed Park in the 2nd tier Supercars series.
The worse Supercar crash I've seen was a stalled start and gets ran into and creates a giant fireball. They it was the last year they had the fuel tank in that position keep other fireball situations with stalled starts

Iv seen people say the Pepsi max car was "the worst crash of all time" I need people to explain plz I don't watch V8 supercars that often so I need some explain
He rode over the wall into a Marshall's post and almost went down into trees. He also broke his thigh bone in the crash
He snapped his leg over the shifter. I'd say that's a pretty gnarly injury.
everyone has there own opinion but its simple watch a bunch of crashes/ accidents then decide what is your worst

The replay played in slow motion with the sound on, & for some reason it played that one commentator's yell in slow motion.

I still don’t get why Bathurst hasn’t installed SAFER Barriers.
because it’s a public road.
It doubles as a public road, one of the winners of the 12 hour in 2022 and 2023 owns a house on Conrod Straight

3:07 would highly recommend watching this crash from the Jack Daniels Altima onboard (car behind James Courtney). The camera angle in this video doesn't do justice to how bad it was
