- The Hockey Night in Canada introduction by the CBC for game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final between the Anaheim Ducks and the Ottawa Senators. A small part of the build up had to be removed to keep this video under 10 minutes long. This edit includes the opening titles, "Saturday Night", Ron MacLean talking to Don Cherry, both anthems and the puck drop.

4:36 RIP Ray Emery
You can not say that the Sens have bad fans after watching this.
their fans are trash. blow me
@@caniac1230 lmao ok sure bud
caniac1230 How’s it feel to lose Forslund? Idiot.
Thank you
@@caniac1230 your trash, that is very rude
Ottawa is the birthplace of the Stanley cup.. It's been 90 years.. It needs to come home.. Let's get it done boys...
AWESOME!!! The rendition of O Canada is absolutely chilling....and I'm American! The patriotism of the fans to sing along so loudly, not to mention the patriotism of CBC to actually televise the anthems. Usually in the US, we are treated to a few commercials during the anthems. This video ROCKS!!!
Lyndon Slewidge is a national treasure
I agree 👍 that is very true
I'm American, but its amazing how he held the last verse of O Canada for nearly ten seconds! 😁 🇺🇸🇨🇦
Back when the CBC didn't deserve to be defunded.
OTTAWA WAS SO CLOSE !!!!
I know, one these years, Ottawa Senators will win the Stanley Cup but we have to be patient
The Cup will come home to Ottawa soon, you can bet on it! GO SENS GO
I love you're optimistim and I am with you all the way ♥ GO SENS GO, STANLEY CUP WILL AND I KNOW IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@coreyhill681 Let's hope the rebuild works
@@flylogan2954 17 years later still no cup...
@@user-vw1io1lz7m Yeah...
Miss saturday nights on CBC. Sure, I still watch the Leafs game satuurdays, but its not the same without this. Thanks for uploading =)
what a great team, city, and fan base. I hope the Senators win the stanley cup very soon!! GO SENS GO!!!
Definitely great reminiscing, what a great playoff run despite falling short. Had a rough year in the 2010/2011 campaign but we'll be back! Go Sens Go!
So awesome. I swear to God, this game was held on June 2nd which is my birthday and I went to the game! The only game in that series the Sens won. Still amazing!
Man i really miss this introduction.
Thanks CBC...grrrr
Elliotte Friedman should've said this after the anthem and before sending to Bob, Greg & Harry. "I've never seen anything epic like this since Ferris Bueller sang at a parade. Bob Cole, Harry Neale & Greg Millen, gentlemen?"
Ottawa senators sell out next year, I miss those fans, it makes me more excited watch Senators hockey
If... that is the real question.
@@classicamerican2469 true
@@classicamerican2469 it was a comment, not a question
I was at that game, man it was nuts how loud the fans were, and it was a good game haha
classic intro! brings back memories!
This brings back memories
The Hockey night in Canada Theme song will never be the same
One of the best things that the HNIC crew does, is know when to just be quiet, and let us TV viewers get the feel of what everyone at the game is seeing and hearing. No one covers hockey as well as the HNIC teams. Having spent last winter watching hockey in the US, I can say this for a fact.
unbelievable to be there
True ! And Thx for that !
RIP Emery
amazing anthem
I agree, Game 3 Oilers, gives me chills
man this is the year the movie '300' came out...this series was like the movie...the Sens ramaged through the first 3 rounds of the playoffs and then were killed in the last round valiantly
I live in Saskatoon, Sask, and I'm a rarity here. No Sens fans here. But I've been a Fan forever, and when this came out, Everyone here was thinking of me and going for them because they were the ONLY Canadian team left. Still a HUGE FAN...GO SENS GO !!!! FOREVER !!
I was under the flag at this game... I miss it.
This comment was made before I was born! I am from the future.
@@flylogan2954 that’s just freaky lol

next year Stanley is back in Ottawa!
GO SENS GO!!!!!
Yup
Wish I could see it more often here in the States.
Thanks for the French lyrics. And I think I saw the Oilers fans rendition too.
That cup shall come back to its birthplace! bring home stanley!
I'm sad that Ottawa didn't win that year but I'm also glad that Teemu won the cup that year
Yeap..."I'm feeling good" then "Pump it"...just enormous ! But just imagine how it would (will ?) be if the Canadiens go to the Finals !
I was at the game when the oilers played carolina (game 3) in the stanley cup finals of 2006. After that game, my ears been ringing for a few days. absolutely crazyy..
and i agree with oilers117
GO OILERS GO!!!
hey its still canada
and we love either french or english
its always the best anthems ever
I remember my girlfriend just ditch me that day and i didnt give a shit
Senators have gotten closer to the cup that the leafs have in 42 years!
Last time Toronto won the cup...there was 6 teams in the NHL! LOL
GO SENS GO!
do you have the full game?
With obliterated all the eastern foe we saw. But Anaheim did the same in the West, they had all the wiley vets too, Selane, Niedermeyer, Pronger. Coupled with a goalie that had been there and lost....Emery and the Sens were simply outmatched in experience and "old school warriors" (ie: vets)
@knightschwartz We do. On NHL Network. And NHL Center Ice.
you heard it BIOTCHES!
BIRTHPLACE OF THE CUP! OTTAWA!
What is the song (8:42)?????
Is CBC producing the WHC-2008 hockey?
i was referring to their current roster.
What are you talking about???
The guy was a poison in the locker room, the majority of the team hated him...
That being said he was still one of my favourites just because of his whole attitude like when fought Biron and Peters while laughing. lol
both have been okay, fleury has been pretty good lately
Who sings this version of "Saturday"?
Nickelback... There’s 2 versions one they did by themselves and then another version with Kid Rock
Hard to believe a canadian can sing the US anthem better than some in the USA.
kelly neil vermette, great 3rd line
GO SENS GO
Montreal has 23 if I remember correctly.
@theurbansoul He really stands out doesn`t he?
8:05 Shout-out to the random Leafs fan whose blue jersey stands out like a sore thumb an a near-Calgary-level sea of red.
only way a Toronto fan can get near the cup in the last 50+ years
Every game no matter who’s playing there’s 1 leafs fan...
yea actually i do wanna bet, how did that game go between the pens and sens this year? yea, i beleive that sens blow a 2 goal lead, twice in the same game, wow good game, sens suck
fuck is this, we could have been champions in this year of 2007 taking the 2002-2003 season was our best chance. But now we have Anderson, Karlsson, Alfie, Spez and a very young team, the Stanley will not take back to their true home.
I missthe old theme song. :-(
@wusslebe1993 what?
If anyone knows the French language version, please post the words here.
im not judging them, i am just pointing out that a "great" team shouldn't blow a 2 goal lead. but the sens blew 2 2 goal leads. the pens battled hard, and deserved the win, noting more to say
yea? i strongly doubt it buddy
the crowd is not as good as the Edmonton game 3 crowd
who sings the "Saturday" song?
''Hello Canada, hockey fans in the United States & Newfound Land''
Given that when that was recorded, Newfoundland was a British territory, and not part of Canada, as NFLD didn't join Canada until March 30, 1949. xD
I agree Jenn, my lady loves the oilers and we always go at it. Did you know that The Sens VS. the Oilers on the 30th. I got $50.00 on the game already...Its a ez 50 ya think???...GO SENS GO !!!!
For the last 5 years ive called it exactly right for the sens i said theyd not be able to handle the ducks d without switching the lines.
This year i GURANTEE they win the whole thing as long as they dont have injuries to there top 4 AND there coach gets one more big tall hitter.
If they do, its OVER.
Sens will be the champs of 08.
@wusslebe1993 Last place... now what?
Whoooooooooooooo Nickelback
your wrong buddy...the french in the anthem makes it...theres the english version, the french version and the hockey version...ottawa is the only city that does both
5:45
k thanks don
Very similar to the Flyers and the Legion of Doom.
A line that absolutely dominated the league for a short period of time, shaky goaltending, bad management, arrogant star player fucking the organization (Lindros for Flyers, Heatley for Senators), ...etc.
Both teams seemed unstoppable entering the Cup Finals, but got absolutely crushed, and went quickly downhill after that.
Lindros was never the same player once he left the Flyers (had serious concussion issues as well). LeClair was pretty good even after his prime, but never got to experience the success he had with the Legion of Doom. Renberg quickly went downhill after the Cup run.
Alfredsson steadily stopped producing after the Cup run do to age, Heatley went on a MASSIVE downhill after fucking the Senators and "stealing" Melnyk's 4M. Spezza has had bright sides, but spent the majority of his career being "unhealthy". He hasn't had the same success when there was the CASH line, and has been the target of criticism for close to a decade (which was why he asked a trade from Ottawa this off season)
History does repeat itself...kinda shows that one dominant line isn't going to get u a Staneley Cup (The Legion of Doom wrecked every playoff team that played them, while Spezza/Heatley/Alfie all finished 1-2-3 in scoring despite a very disappointing Finals).
Like Detroit and Anaheim, quality 3rd/4th line players are definitely more effective in situations like the Finals where Star players usually don't live up to their expectations (whether its the winning team or the losing team). Not that the Senators didn't have any, but the Ducks had way more depth in almost every aspect while the Senators relied HEAVILY on the 1st line. The rest is history.
holy shit guy you put a lot of effort into that comment but yeah for sure! end of an era.
Sens were hardly "Absolutely crushed". Three of the Ducks four wins were by a single 3rd period goal.
Kilerchuk
Have you watched the game? The score makes it seem like it was an evenly matched team, but that series for most of the part was sens just getting beaten physically by the Ducks.
Yes, they were "absolutely crushed". Ironically, the Wings-Flyers game also seems that way as well. The score makes it look like the Senators were fighting back, but in reality, it wasn't even close.
But I can't really blame the CASH line. That Ducks team was so stacked, guys like Getzlaf/Perry/Kunitz/Penner were all 2nd/3rd/4th line players with guys like McDonald and Selanne upfront. They also had arguably one of the best shutdown line in the NHL at that time, and of course, Spezza/Heatley/Alfie had to face against Niedermeyer and Pronger (and Gigure)...which was too much.
Anthony Rocco Yep. I was AT the games.
Kilerchuk
In what game. I was in the only game when the sens won (thankfully), but that was really the only game that the Sens took control over the Ducks.
And besides, being at the game or not hardly matters in this discussion. Yes, the scores were pretty close aside of game 5, but that series was just another example of "history repeats itself", with the Flyers and the Legion of Doom getting schooled by the Wings.
dude, that's nothing. I'm from Brasi, rarity here is to have someone who does not like soccer and Neymar. Here hardly think fans of hockey, let alone Sens fans? I must be the only one in this whole country. But there it is, the important thing is that we have blood red, black and white, a force united GO SENS GO!!!
See alfredsson at 8:18?
See him get pissed off and revved up?
Thats why he still couldnt be slowed down by the ducks in the final.
5 points, just like all the rounds prior, its too bad that other than him, fisher, neil, volchenkov phillips the rest of the team wasnt as reved. But come to think of it those 5 are more experienced gritty players.
LET'S GO PENGUINS!!!
ottawa is always an underdog team, at the end of every year no team wants to play them because it seams as if they are always gaining new top players from the ahl like butler, smith, condra, greening and many more
1:45-2:20 man this blows thatthey don't have the theme anymore, fuck you TSN
when it first happened i was like oh no biggie its just a song, but its a big deal, my kids aren't going to be able to hear this and see this, its sad, this is the theme my grandpa had and my dad grew up with
crosby will get us the cup, maybe not this year, maybe not even next, but he has a long long long career ahead of him, he has the surrounding cast, roberts is one heck of a player, but i dont think he should be captain, i would say that if anyone other then crosby, it sohuld be skyora.
leafs are going to be way better next year
over 10 players whove been to the stanley cup on the roster, and 3 players with stanley cup rings...wheres this lack of depth?
Dude, did you see how shitty we played against the pens.
THAT WAS THE WORST SENS Defensive play i have ever seen, we really gotta turn it around!
habs ftw
Leafs have WAY more than 0 cups, what are you talking about? And the senators of old had 11 then they didnt have a team for 60 years. They came back in 92, had 3 conference finals, and won the east once.
pens will finish in front of sens buddy, hate to break it to you
not a mountie lol he is an O.P.P. OFFICER (Ontario provincial police)
but i know what you mean, he is awesome with the anthems and boosting fan pride :) but he is ours sorry lol
SENS will win the cup!!!!!
I like the sens but this was the least exciting stanley cup series since the lockout, lets change that GO SENS BEAT THE RANGERS
@sabrefan14 USA dont care about hockey tradition......canada does
CBC ftw
no way dude, ottawa is good and all but penguins will get revenge on them this year.
GO PENS EXPERIENCE THE EVOLUTION
@Kastrenzo74 Emery wasn't a cancer, ottawa is just a place where careers die because of a horribly run organization.
Every province in Canada has the RCMP (Mounties) as their police force except for Ontario & Quebec.
@Rex Brown I take it you mean for policing outside of cities which do have their own police force. Other provinces have had their own provincial police forces previously, except for NFLD as they joined in 1949 and simply decided to have the RCMP run things as it was much cheaper than forming their own, but due to the sheer costs of having such an agency, they just disbanded those provincial police agencies and gave authority to the RCMP outside of municipal agencies to enforce the law within their borders.
i dont know if thats what you guys want.I thought you were gonna rebuild through the draft...as a team as a whole the leafs should be better, if you dont have matts you wont win alot of games, youll get a good draft pick though. Matts was 90% of your offense.
Habs will be stronger with laraque and tanguay and price will be better with exp.
Sens had the year from hell but cut 2 cancers,3 shitty forwards, and a crappy coach, good replacements and a better coach. The east can teams should do better.
@wusslebe1993 HAhAH
no more of that, fucking CTV bought the rights to it for TSN, i got so pissed off
If you are going to call me a moron, shouldn't you use correct spelling and grammar?
Jmat, it's cuz, and no offense to the Star-Spangled Banner, a little too dull of an anthem. We in America need a new national anthem.
So true. And glad most people realize it. Just like ho the french don't give two fucks about english.
That goal off of alfredsson was bullcrap. This series should have been a sweep.
Ha. Every analyst from Canada and the US even said that Anaheim was just plain better in this series. And 4-1 generally means the other team really didn't put up any sort of challenge. And Alfreddson is a total dirtbag for shooting the puck at Scotty Niedermayer and you can't deny that he did it on purpose.
Pens will fall to the sens in the playoffs just like before.
Sens have been a rising team each year for the past year and their roster has improved and a few keys guys have stuck around for leadership and now that theyve been to the finals theirs a little more depth.Sens came out of the gates determined to get to the cup little slump lately but theyll be back on track.Crosby will never get you guys the cup.Roberts should have the C.
I'll freaken miss the orignal hockey theme.. the two finalists are not as near as good ..
