I’ve been in the market for a Murphy 56, and some of the aging on the gold tops is so bad. I feel bad for these guys who have close to $6k in these guitars when they bought them new, and now are trying to offload these to some poor soul that doesn’t know any better. There’s also a Murphy 335 on reverb with an obvious finish issue that’s been sitting for almost a year, and the guy refuses to drop his price or accept offers.
StewMac is selling a limited run of Korina neck blanks. Mind you it’s just jointed and squared up raw lumber, so you’d have to cut and shape it into a usable guitar part.
I would love to see a spreadsheet listing of the guitars Trogly has reviewed with the build specs itemized so we could use it in our buying and selling.
That gold top reminds me of the beginning of the movie The Matrix, with the codes going up and down. Its was probably a apprentice who did this job, or a Monday morning when the guy still reeked of beer and pizza 😂😂😂
Looks strange and cool at the same time. The weird Murphy Lab. Got something you might like to see. In the Eir Aoi video Kasumi there's a Les Paul in TV Yellow that has me confused. Is it a Studio or a Special or some kind of custom order? Or not even a Gibson? You don't have to reply I just thought you'd find it interesting. Love your channel and been watching for years. Take care . ❤
I dig the idea of Gibson building more 24-fret guitars in general. Back during the lockdown when I was tempted by the Harley Benton version of the SG Custom, those two extra frets were part of its appeal. The only reason why Gibson doesn't build more models like it is because of tradition. Tradition is governing their judgment too much.
Love the Trans Red ' Q' 59' reissue LP , it looks like ' Coca-Cola ' , like the actual soda inside the old bottles ...also the Oak LP has beautiful wood grain ...Thanks Trogly !
It does look like an early Murphy lab. Let's see what Trogly has to say about it. I have that exact ash explorer in my collection. Thanks Trogly great show and review.
Swamp Ash is terrible for guitar bodies because it is too soft. My Swamp Ash bass has marks all over it, it even takes fingernail marks if you are rough handling it. Dont even mention belt buckles ore bluejeans studs on the back of the body 😬
What if I told you there is no such thing as a "good" aging job? The only good aging job is one that's done the old-fashioned way. Gibson needs to stop doing this uglification crap in the name of charging a few grand more.
It looks like somebody took a razor blade to it 😊natural cracking is not straight lines it's kind of jagged anyway love your videos keep up the good work and I'm going to keep watching I learned a lot about Gibson and other companies through your show so it's greatly appreciated
Isn't that always the way? One man's "best aging job" is another man's "worst job". If you don't like it, save your money and don't buy it or find one that has the aging job you like! Plain and simple! Welcome to America and the free enterprise system!
All or most Murphy Lab aged guitars Ive seen are way too over the top for me, they dont look real, they look overlly aged and like a thing anyone can do on his house as a hobby.
People do that with license plates on vehicles that are for sale. they obscure the license plates which is stupid. because people can see their license plates when they are driving the vehicle around.
Once again, why buy a new beat up guitar? If I ordered a beautiful Gibson Custom Shop guitar for $10k more or less and it came with chips, scratches, etc. I would return it! Lol
Stupid looking guitar. I’ve said it a hundred times, but if you absolutely have to own an artificially aged guitar, make sure every ding, dent and check looks AUTHENTIC. And this guitar is an example of one that does not…at all. …so like I said, it just looks a stupid.
The COA is a typo. It was Murphy’s Law that was applied to that guitar.
Got to say my man… criminally hilarious comment!!! Hahahahahahahahaha!!!! For real!!!
@@mertmunson1417 cival offense
Indeed
So what happened to buying a guitar you love. Modifying it to make it “perfect.” Then using it constantly until it’s old. It’s aged perfectly then.
What ever happened to letting people like what they like?
@@srh361 thanks! That’s what I’m saying!
Agreed.
Right?! You only live once. Totally digging that SG with the P90 just as is.
@KEV_101 true. Guitars in anyone’s favorite flavor.
That swamp ash studio is a solid looking player
The first one looked like the first guitar he ever made and was testing different ideas. Lol.
Legend says: if you play a certain Egyptian sounding scale with this guitar, you'll summon Exodia and automatically win the duel.
Really like the oak top Les Paul. Cool to see a different top wood than just maple like most LP's
I wonder if the Murphy goldtop was deemed not aged enough by an owner, so they tried to age it further themselves.
Might be a Murphy guitar that got caught in a rapid temp change. The fake aging got mixed with a lot of new cracking.
Bang on. Hairdryer.
the gold top the checking, if you can call it that is too linear, it should be more random! that red quilt is STUNNING!❤
Even the guitar I did with canned air doesn't look like this. Weird!
Normally I have very strong opinions on things like this. I honestly have no idea what to make of that relic job.
I'm also at a loss...
Weird and faked!
I was looking for an American II and found that green American I and thought of you right away. Almost pulled the trigger but passed. .
That red Quilt top is a beauty.
This thing probs has the missing parts of the epic of gilgamesh on it
The Swamp Ash was beautiful.

Evening all!!! That trans red quilt top is gorgeous!!
That refinished SG has a reflection of thecguy taking its picture on the headstock.
StewMac is selling a limited run of Korina neck blanks. Mind you it’s just jointed and squared up raw lumber, so you’d have to cut and shape it into a usable guitar part.
Trogly you should talk about the new Epiphones with the Custombuckers
I would love to see a spreadsheet listing of the guitars Trogly has reviewed with the build specs itemized so we could use it in our buying and selling.
Make one for us please.
That gold top reminds me of the beginning of the movie The Matrix, with the codes going up and down. Its was probably a apprentice who did this job, or a Monday morning when the guy still reeked of beer and pizza 😂😂😂
That green sparkles with « doom » written on the p 94 . Is coo AF 🏆💯
The matrix addition lol
Looks strange and cool at the same time. The weird Murphy Lab.

That quilt top is drop-dead gorgeous!

That looks horrible for an "aged" job
aging a guitar is the dumbest thing anyone has ever done with a guitar
I'm completely against
I don't get it at all
Are you sure that Gibson SG is an all american? The pickguard and the SN make me think its an SG-X not an SG-1.
That beautiful gold top was ruined.
That Gold Top broke my heart!
So that last is a 1996 correct?
Class 5 was spectacular. The SG was nice.
I always love surfin guitars with Trogly. He finds the best ones so we don't have to.
Love the Trans Red ' Q' 59' reissue LP , it looks like ' Coca-Cola ' , like the actual soda inside the old bottles ...also the Oak LP has beautiful wood grain ...Thanks Trogly !
Was the custom headstock option on the Gibson custom shop real?
Sometimes, people scams by taking a serial number, reports it stolen and gets the money from it.
Nice hang-wan--li labs aged goldtop, those Chibsons become better every day.
Wasn't that SG all American called the SG-X and came stock with that pickguard???
When it wasn’t so much of a Lab as a shed out back.
I've never seen any guitar old or new with barcode checking like that, to me it's ridiculous and looks like crap and a massive fail on Gibsons part...
Great Show, Austin, as usual!
It does look like an early Murphy lab. Let's see what Trogly has to say about it. I have that exact ash explorer in my collection. Thanks Trogly great show and review.
Why did that Goldtop make me think of a hieroglyph burst?
I see it being more Runic than Hieroglyphic.
I have purchased a LP Supreme from Monkeytar. Good seller.
Fist one was Murphy's Lab Experiment.
The Oak was nice, but the Swamp Ash was my favorite.
Swamp Ash is terrible for guitar bodies because it is too soft.
My Swamp Ash bass has marks all over it, it even takes fingernail marks if you are rough handling it. Dont even mention belt buckles ore bluejeans studs on the back of the body 😬
The gold Les Paul reminds me of binary code but no zeros 111 11 11111 11
If someone wanted to buy me that swamp ash, I would never complain......my dream strat would be that, through and through.
I usually dont care for relic guitars. I want a pristine guitar and play it until it is perfection.
Ash LP Studio do have a top.
"Gibson didn't really do a good job explaining what a class V is..... Anyway...."
What if I told you there is no such thing as a "good" aging job? The only good aging job is one that's done the old-fashioned way. Gibson needs to stop doing this uglification crap in the name of charging a few grand more.
That wasn't aged it was f''d up. Unless its two thousand years old
1:25 ESP vibes
"Semiwhat" is Trogly's contribution to the English language. I didn't like the look of that gold top, personally.
It looks like somebody took a razor blade to it 😊natural cracking is not straight lines it's kind of jagged anyway love your videos keep up the good work and I'm going to keep watching I learned a lot about Gibson and other companies through your show so it's greatly appreciated

Will know we have reached the singularity when AI can identify Gibson guitars and cases as well as Trogly can. Gonna be a while…
That quilt top....🤤❤
That aging job must have been their first - not a fan....
All or most Murphy Lab aged guitars Ive seen are way too over the top for me, they dont look real, they look overlly aged and like a thing anyone can do on his house as a hobby.
that first one looks like they took liquid nitrogen to it after doing the first lines with a razor blade
Yeah a code or something. Not my deal, but hey each to their own.
Do it brother’
People do that with license plates on vehicles that are for sale. they obscure the license plates which is stupid. because people can see their license plates when they are driving the vehicle around.
DOOM pickup ❤
Just goes to show that Gibson's nitro is still bad.
matrix code
I like shiny things.
the interstellar guitar
Let’s go!!!
Looks like a binary code to me!
Matrix relic
I despise faked ageing but that as a finish pattern is quite interesting in and of itself.
AI aged (?
they defstuck that thing in a freezer
r
Yo
Kinda looks like Ai aging
That's terrible Murphy
Once again, why buy a new beat up guitar? If I ordered a beautiful Gibson Custom Shop guitar for $10k more or less and it came with chips, scratches, etc. I would return it! Lol
Just place the right order. No issue.
Some people buy guitars 70 years old for 100 grand. Beat up a bit as well.
Don't get it?
I really, strongly dislike it
Stupid looking guitar. I’ve said it a hundred times, but if you absolutely have to own an artificially aged guitar, make sure every ding, dent and check looks AUTHENTIC. And this guitar is an example of one that does not…at all. …so like I said, it just looks a stupid.
✌️
Peace, Peace Hector
like most relicing its shit. But Im sur it will provide someone with the appropeiate mastabatory fantasy......{ tongue in cheek}
because it's fake aged.....waste of money
It looks like a bitcoin.
Woot woot Trogly's guitars 🎸 🙌
ᕦʕ •`ᴥ•´ʔᕤ🌮🌮Happy Taco Tuesday! 🎸🔥
Yahoo
😊❤
When I saw the thumbnail I was like: "Oh gosh Burls Art made goldtop from match sticks, not again" LOL
omg
Z is for late
Semi-what lesh check it out
Scan it with a barcode reader and you'll get the GPS coordinates for the alien lander module the original builders of the pyramids arrived in.
Egyptian Gold 😂🤘
