- I have wanted to make a wheel design like this for some time now. and have always wondered what was the best solution to make a simple aero disk wheel design that would fit on my bike. Join me as we figure it out and come up with what I think is a super cool design!
Thank you again to Project PowderCoating 👌

They look sooooo cool, well done Sir 👍🏼
That turned out fantastic! I’ve thought about aero disc myself after seeing a few on Instagram sport bikes. Seeing someone make one and that coating made it top tier.
Great work Jish, nice mix of new skool techniques and old skool looks with the old style tyres, be careful in cross winds😉
That looks amazing. Such a cool idea!!!
Thanks buddy! Can't wait to see it on the bike
Those look really slick!
i'm eager to see on the bike . Nice job by the way
Nice! A relatively inexpensive way to completely transform the look of the bike!
I was looking for something similar to fit on my BMW RNINET to save me looking at the crusty spokes!
Love it!
Dude this is awesome!!! Love watching all your content ❤
Sick man!

They look really cool Jish well done great use of scanning and 3d printing
🙏
hell yeah dude
Turned out 🔥🔥. I really like that you try new things😌✌🏽
Thanks buddy! I enjoy the learning side just as much as the finished thing
I've seen some people do wheeldops like this from where I am and from what I've heard from those guys is if it's not done right it causes drag and is catches crosswinds easily. Though i am interested in this design.
Looks very 80's Crockett and Tubbs, i like it.
Just don't go riding in heavy windforce and keep the degreaser close by.
I just switched to Dasty, cheap industrial strenght multi use.👍
Yeah i know im going to carry cleaning products with me as even just looking at it will make it dirty 😂 im planning to use dry grease to see how that goes

Looking good I love the look of the plates before the powder coating polished would be nice but nightmare to keep clean
oh yess I plan in keeping this bike super clean even if the chain will make it a hellish task!
Looks cool! id be a little worried about the mounting and if they 3D printed rods will hold up even if they're CF. Maybe would have been better to use a dowel/threaded rod and nuts? so the CF reinforced plastic doesn't have to take much potential stress.
I may eventually change to ally machined spacers as this does cross my mind, the bolts i have used leave next to no space on the middle but i agree threaded rod and domed nuts might be a better option
You could rather easily make them from real carbon fiber with one side mold by wet laying it and they would still be very light.
@@jishhYou could also just use captivated nuts (add a slot to insert a nut in the cylinder design) or heat-set inserts (but the nuts are a better choice)
Yeah I think they look really cool.. For those that can remeber so far back in time ,they look abit simerliar to the old ELF 500cc racers,,or perhaps a Gilera 125.... I would not mind doing the same to my BMW R1200RT.
I like .
Mate! 🐕🍒 👌
Will you be sharing the 3D file for the Aerodisks somewhere or possible selling it? I am working on a Honda PC800 Knight Rider themed build and I think they would look cool in black for my project! -My question ofcourse implies that you made a great thing!
I dont think there is much point as it will only fit this specific wheel thats off a Yamaha yzf 😅 even without 3D scanning you can make your own with good measurements 👌
Great work lad! What about air inlets for the tyre? Are you planning to do some sort of extension so you dont have to remove that plate everytime you want to check air pressure?
Yep! Already found some and just waiting for them to arrive
That is a very cool idea and a great execution! I might copy it in an upcoming build I have planned 😬 I have a bold (and perhaps stupid) idea to convert from disk brakes to drum brakes as well, just to get a completely clean look 😊 btw: are you sure the 3D printed and threaded rods are strong enough? Perhaps safer to get some aluminium rods? 🤔
Haha! Thats what im all about man! Sharing is caring 🤘
Im not totally sold it will be ideal long term. The spacer is fine as its acting like its own nylock but i agree maybe threaded bar with nuts on the end may be a better option. Ill come back to that when i start testing the bike 👌
Awesome quality result but will the brake calipers fit as they tend to sit within the wheel?
Yep! Although i was nervous to find out myself i checked and they fit with plenty of clearance
Not my style but they turned out fantastic
I appreciate you commenting all the same 🤘
they look great and i want them on my bike!😍 however how did the powder coaters manage to get such a peely finish on the discs, they need flatting and polishing or even lacquering
Im not sure what you are seeing they im not but the powdercoat is actually really smooth! They have done a brilliant job as i know white can be funny. Theres some photos on my instagram where you can see the finish better

Brilliantly “mental.”
You should add those to the chinese bike.
maybe! although I do like the spoked wheels on that bike
Supercool but will take a bit of work to inflate the tyre on regular basis.
Looks great Jish. I'd be tenpted to use some soft silicone beading around the circumference of the inside edge, where it nearly touches the rim, to reduce the chances of vibration. Having said that, they're going on a CB 125 so you won;t hear it above the cam chain rattle ;). Looking forward to seeing them on the bike. Would look good on a Moto Morini Dart! ruclips.net/video/MW1UZnrbqgY/видео.html
dont cut them put a 90 degree valve stem if you use tubeless tires
I'll be surprised if these turn out anything close to a good idea for a bike that's actually ridden.
I plan on riding this bike. Other than a little chain grease clean up, I can't see why its would be classed as a bad idea
@jishh crosswinds and the discs shifting are the first things that come to mind. From what I've seen, bicycle racers only used to use these on their rear wheels.
@michaelrodgers6559 good job its only going on a 125 rear wheel then 🤘
"Drag reduction means more speed, better handling and lower fuel economy which would be important in production bikes which don’t have such great mileage figures."
Ducati has been using them on motogp bikes for a bit my guy.. even known jish is mostly doing it as a cosmetic mod, there are practical uses of this already.
@@jishh any kind of side wind, especially on a smaller bike, is gonna make the handling awful. Add to that using some of the worst tyres ever made by Bridgestone (I still don't understand why you would use 1950s style tyres on something more 80s inspired), it's a recipe for disaster
