I used to use the kerosene trick in the 1970’s and still do. It’s a fantastic and bike-friendly cleaner and won’t leach grease out like many other products. It’s also good if you have a reservoir on your water blaster. Leaves a nice shine and acts as a release agent for road grime. Pretty effective on brake pad dust too.

If you use the recommended gear oil to lube the chain it’s very easy to apply with an old tooth brush and you don’t need to have the wheel moving whilst applying it. Just fill the bristles of the tooth brush and it’ll be enough to do 1/4 of the chain, then just move the wheel around to do the next section. Remember your not really lubricating the chain, your only preventing corrosion to the links so no need to lather it everywhere, just a nice thin coat over the links.
I always mount a spare garage door remote control under a fairing or seat, then solder wires from the switch on the remote to a momentary switch mounted in the front fairing or side body panel. It looks cool and is very functional.

Diesel fuel works great too for cleaning chains. Pretty much same as kerosene. Also when living your chain make sure its warm. The lube penetrates much better on a warm chain vs a cold one.
@Palm Coast Adventures image but your talking about cleaning vs lubing. After cleaning the chain take a 10 minute ride, warm it up and them lube it. It helps the lube to penetrate in between the o-rings and the small spaces it normally wouldn't. Yes lubing a cool chain looks like it works just fine but you can't seen anything except the outside of the parts, the inside is the most critical and is what needs the line the most. Just fit a scottoiler to the chain. My old CBR daily went eight years with only one adjustment required. Keeps the chain clean too. The only thing I miss about my old Goldwing is that it swallowed all equipment so you didn't have to carry all your stuff about. Got the weekly shop in it too. The other 98% of the time it was a heavy PITA! And NEVER use your helmet as a basket. There's nothing to stop items from deforming the inner foam or scratching the visor. Its as bad as dropping the helmet.
I did what you need for yrs , lubricants onto the chain , ,in the video your spraying the stuff in the wrong places, the only place it needs putting is on the inside were the teeth of the sprockets make contact with the rollers , think about how much lube you will save and how little will flick off on ur bike Cheers Shane uk 🇬🇧
Never use your helmet as a basket, it damages the padding inside your helmet. As bikers we should be teaching bikers the right stuff not the wrong stuff
Hilarious video, had me giggling like a school girl! As a mechanic your hacks were something that I assumed everyone knew. But sadly this is not the case. Don't fully agree with your chain cleaning, but at least you said a disclaimer. So I just wanted to add a tiny bit of safety advise. Please make sure that the bolt you use is a "Hardened steel bolt" of at least Grade 8/Grade G. Not just any old bolt that will fit into the hole. This will be much safer lifting your bike and keeping it secure and safe on your swing arm stand. Because as you said, we all have a love affair with our motorcycle and I'm sure we'll do anything to protect it!
Working on the chain with the engine on is... a great idea! Put a rubber band on the clutch so it is running about 5900 RMP and get right up close to that sprocket. What could go wrong?
The video was pretty good but the first hack can easily be bad for the safety of your helmet, cause it compresses the eps foam in your helmet which is necessary for your safety
Everyone probably knows but Wd40 is amazing for getting oil and brake dust off your rims and rubbing a pencil (graphite not a kids colouring pencil)😂 on your bike key when it’s a bit sticky in the ignition
Man not sure if I agree with these tips, some of them could be hazardous. But that left alone your film making game is 👌👌. Love the color grade, lens selection, composition and story telling.
My zx14 has I assume a 22mm Allen bolt on the front. I found a 21mm mag nut from a car in the shed. Fits well enough with a 21mm socket and breaker bar. Has served me for years 😅
That's not even the biggest thing. The EPS that compresses to save your brain in an impact will possibly compress from what you stack inside making it unavailable to help you. Same reason you NEVER hang a helmet on a mirror, grip, dick, whatever.
I got a r1 when i put the stand on i turn it on in neutral and the back wheel spins slower and its also safer any forse put on the wheel will stop it from rolling
@@Whiztek2023 I hate to be "that guy" but you're wrong, with the bike in neutral the rear wheel will spin due to a small amount of friction in the gear box causing rotation on the output shaft not because the clutch cable is too tight

Many shops' security don't like you placing items in your helmet since they have to monitor you to make sure you don't walk out the store with items in it which haven't been paid for. You should know this pretty well as a Souff Effriken. Take a bolt slightly longer than the nut and tighten it almost all the way down into the nut, so as to have a 'stopper' which will prevent the nut from seating too deeply into the alan-capped bolt on the bike (or elsewhere pertinent). Don't spray up or soak your chain with/in paraffin. It readily seeps past the o-rings to break down the grease inside of the chain links, causing accelerated wear of the chain -> bad chain -> wear increase on sprockets -> quicker replacement intervals for the set. Wipe-downs using a paraffin-damped rag or paper towel gets the job done in a little bit more time without as much risk of causing the sucker to suck it up. (I mean, it won't outright /kill/ a chain the way being a numpty and using carb cleaner on your chain thinking it gets the job done nice and quick is grand, but it will cause you to replace your chain and sprockets a lot sooner than you might have otherwise) There's a reason DID as example recommend using paraffin as a last-resort cleaning 'solution'.
I did the helmet basket thing and parafin as a chain cleaner since years ago hahaha... cheers mate! and that helmet as a phone stand to take pic is awesome!
(21 years on bicycle: 2 years on bike nearly and an alcoholic) Never drink and ride. Alcohol and riding is unbelievable awesome. You can ride perfect + perfect on alcohol. Best speeding. Best calculating. Best braking. It could be economic ride or a breathtaking loudy ride if you know what you do. BUT whatabout when you face off something unexpected. ZERO FUCKING REFLEX. That's it. That's all. No more riding with one leg or one arm anymore. Bikes are dangerous. I got 8 crashes with my old "girly" scooter. 6 of them while was on alcohol. I am 28 years old only. I can confirm riding a bike on alcohol even HARD alcohol (the situations like you feel wasted) its awesome (I remember still. I couldnt even walk I was falling down on the ground but when I sit down on the bike I could ride it even drunk as wasted). So it's still awesome for me. But I would ride only on court if I am drunk. Because "riding your beast" is like a war in traffic and you cannot know where the attack will come. A stone maybe: simple stone: or a drunk guy riding a shittiest car ever build: or an animal which is one month old kitty. So riding is awesome when you are high but you got no more reflexes never forget that. Ride for life. Not for giving your life.

The thumbnail was the best one
I really like you're video's mate. Keep them comming.
Everyone probably knows but Wd40 is amazing for getting oil and brake dust off your rims and rubbing a pencil (graphite not a kids colouring pencil)😂 on your bike key when it’s a bit sticky in the ignition
You are a god. Thanks mate!
enjoyed the video!
OOoooor you know you can strap your helmet or your backpack and shop like a normal person
Or have a box strapped to your bike to put shit in.
Man not sure if I agree with these tips, some of them could be hazardous. But that left alone your film making game is 👌👌. Love the color grade, lens selection, composition and story telling.
I would like to add that if u put too heavy an item into the helmet can affect the eps foam by compressing it and decreasing its efficiency
Awesome video bro😊🙌
For the allen key one, try just using two smaller allen keys that add up to the same size as the big one would be.
My zx14 has I assume a 22mm Allen bolt on the front. I found a 21mm mag nut from a car in the shed. Fits well enough with a 21mm socket and breaker bar. Has served me for years 😅
Or…crazy thought…get the right tool for the job.
Nice 👍🏼 love the video
1st tip is a bad one. I used to put everything in my helmet and it scatched the inside screen like its been sanded down xD
That's not even the biggest thing. The EPS that compresses to save your brain in an impact will possibly compress from what you stack inside making it unavailable to help you. Same reason you NEVER hang a helmet on a mirror, grip, dick, whatever.
Nice bro cheers for them!
I got a r1 when i put the stand on i turn it on in neutral and the back wheel spins slower and its also safer any forse put on the wheel will stop it from rolling
Only works when the oil is cold though, but yes works safer then!
That just means ur clutch cable is too tight ....need some play or slack at levers also means it's burning out clutch...
@@Whiztek2023 I hate to be "that guy" but you're wrong, with the bike in neutral the rear wheel will spin due to a small amount of friction in the gear box causing rotation on the output shaft not because the clutch cable is too tight
@@schleighbells9035 Sorry I think you're addressing the wrong person...no worries though
Every single problem im facing every fucking day, thank you.
I have been doing that with my hat for years. Except turn it the other way so the wind doesn't blow it out lol
Bravo. Really enjoyed this one.
I put 170km/h with my cap this way. He never flies. Another way to put, is in the oposite side. The cap will stay hold between your body and the stripe.
bro, lube the chain below the swingarm in front of the rear sprocket right about where the rear shock is, i usually place a paper towel to avoid overspray. Fyi, the NoToil bio chain wax is the bomb! The chain does not need to be hot, just let it dry for 15 mins after applying. Hope this helps, Cheers!
I like your video but don’t agree with the bottle opener at least for beer. You should never drink when you ride ( Open The Throttle Not The Bottle )
Drinking and riding is not the point. You can open a coke. I made it very clear that I don’t advocate drinking and driving in the real beer opening video I thought it would just be general knowledge in this video. 🙌🏻
@@ChaosCauses I also noticed because I happen to drink them too, that you featured Heineken 0% alcohol free beer in your demonstration. They're great for getting that beer taste but being able to tay 100% legal and sober...just don't waste beer next time as you spilled. Ha ha. Where in jhb you based dude? cool videos
I guess it's a cool trick while sitting in the garage with the homies tho...... till they try it on your bike👊👊
@@reeper98 bike rallies, garage, when the fucking thing is dead at the side of the road and you are waiting for pickup and have beer in the bag....
I don't even own a motorcycle, let alone a motorcycle license, but I found this very informative 👍
Never occurred to me to use the helmet as a tripod. Hahaha.. that is a good one... Cheers!
My helmet always sweaty dude not sure bout dat
(I mean, it won't outright /kill/ a chain the way being a numpty and using carb cleaner on your chain thinking it gets the job done nice and quick is grand, but it will cause you to replace your chain and sprockets a lot sooner than you might have otherwise)
There's a reason DID as example recommend using paraffin as a last-resort cleaning 'solution'.
For the Allen key tip, I sure a spark plug socket, fits perfectly in there
Ideias incríveis. Parabéns!
I did the helmet basket thing and parafin as a chain cleaner since years ago hahaha... cheers mate! and that helmet as a phone stand to take pic is awesome!
I subscribe just now thanks for the effort...keep it up...stay safe always
Your R1 is a beauty mate!
Love your guy Martin sticker on your helmet 👍🏻
Glad I’m not the only one who does the cap hack
I just cut my hair real short ;p
many of these i already used... still work great... thnx buddy for show those idea to evyone...
You owe me a new cap.
good work good advice brother
Don’t drink and ride
Love it bro, this is cool
Im going to subs you bro 😁
Respect
Apply chain wax/lube inside, and never ever put the keys in the ignition.
I totally agree. Never ever do it with the engine running that’s number one. Number two put the wax on the inside of the chain not the outside.
Great video thank you for sharing
Helmet camera hack was the best!!✌️
I really love the way you care your Motorcycle
I always have a cap the opposite way than pictured in the video and I’ve gone 160+ like that haha
CLEAN YOUR CHAIN, Fasten to old tooth brushes bristle to bristle with elastic bands, dip them in cleaner and pull them apart to put them onto the chain and turn the back wheel. Rinse brushes as necessary. Dave
Now, *this* is a great hack!
That’s how I put my hat! Only lost one in all my time doing it. Lost it going 160mph lol!
Anther great video! Keep up the good work!!
garrett sherman , wow!, you find a way to let us know that you ride at 160 mph!, what a jerk!!, btw if you lost it you don’t know if it was at 50, 80 or 100 mph MORON!!
@@carlosgooglemaps94 yeah... except for the fact that you can literally feel it on your back when they fly out.. at 160, f u
cool hacks buddy! love them
I like the cleaning or lubing the chain while the tire spins due to engine running but the problem you'll run into on bikes with traction control (2017R6) is the check engine light will come "on". Just fyi
That’s very interesting, mine never gets upset and it has TCS
I've always done it that way until I tried it on my 2017 R6 and now I have a lovely check engine light on?
@@stephencarbajal5657 i dont think it has to do with free wheelin your tire. Whats the code you got for the check engine light?
Does the dealer did the troubleshooting and reset the code, can't remember the code but that's what they said?
@@stephencarbajal5657 wierd, never heard of that happening but anythings possible i guess
Awesome bro 👍🤟
These are terrible. Now I know why the level of squids continues to increase exponentially....
And this video will help manage their population ;p
I plan to buy my first bike and after watching countless videos over the years, tips from this guy always seems sketchy or wrong to me.
🤣🤣 man!! You just gained a subscriber! Awesome content
im so happy my bike has a drive shaft!
@LVRider i drive a BMW K75, old model with over 200k on the clock, still no problems, else more than enough spare parts :)
@LVRider yeah, that is a newer type, that is a problem, but the types before 1990 are called Flying Bricks, and thats for the reason they are realy good haha
Mark Janzen my 83 Yamaha has 140k on the original shaft and diff
Another way for the front axle take the matching bolt and two nuts tighten them together its a double nut and will work also to remove a broken bolt where just a piece of the threaded part is showing
“Kerosene will not destroy your O rings”
WAT DID HE JUST SAID?
What adout engine degreaser, its made for cleaning in engine bays, and there' lots of ruber under the hud of a car
It won’t. My Suzuki shop manual states to use Kerosene to clean the chain.
The kerosene has been used for decades till all the advertising of other means of chain cleaners came out in a big way and so manufacturers said it would ruin your orings just so you would buy their product
4:41 **Bensound sexy starts**
I already knew what was going to happen;)
Tks for the heart😁
Never put your motorcycle on a gear while you use chain lube, also don't use it from the outside of the chain but inside!
I pray long life for your beautiful bike.
I have personally never ever experienced a time where my cap came off the back seat strap and that includes times where I've even been 195mph!!
Nice hacks man! I really love motorcycle hacks for the first time!
You lubricate the chain in the wrong place. But otherwise nice video! :-) xD
I use the hex end of a sparkplug socket on the hex axle end. Use a ratchet and extension in the end that a sparkplug would fit into.
