  • Richard Kiel, who played Jaws, passed away on this day in 2014. In this classic clip, a machine gun-wielding Jaws pursues Bond (Roger Moore) by speedboat over the Igazu Falls in Brazil in MOONRAKER (1979).

      I guess it depends on your generation. My first Bond film was Thunderball so Sean is the man. I like RM but not as 007. Not his fault as I think the producers etc were trying to mix it up a bit to keep it fresh and instead just made it silly. Usually that is the move just before a franchise dies lucky for us demand brought back the seriousness of the books intent.

    • @normanoro206
      @normanoro206 3 года назад +12

      @@bailey9r Right. Like most little boys, I didn't approach movies as a film critic would. I was there for the show. And Roger Moore brought the show. For the time, the stunts, gadgets and special effects (eg, in Moonraker) were awesome. Now that I'm much older, I do prefer the grittier and more realistic James Bond that Daniel Craig brings to the screen and that Sean Connery brought to life as the original 007. However, although Roger Moore's James Bond maybe isn't my speed any longer, he'll always be the James Bond I grew up with.

    John Barry was not only a brilliant composer but was so skillful with music placement in scenes. Notice that in any action sequence he scores, the music is brought in when the action has nearly concluded. By doing so, as semi-comical as this scene and several others during the Roger Moore Bond years are, over-scoring could easily have become counterproductive and made a film like “Moonraker” seem even more comedic. Slower chord progressions also aid in lifting the film to an almost epic status, rather than letting in fall into the category of “pastiche” or “camp”.

    Great wings of Mercury, this chasing is so phenomenal because I’ve watched it which featured agent 007 trying to escape a trio of boats that had nine men, including a tall man, known as jaws riding on one of these boats, because I remembered one agent 007 released a couple of dip charges into the water, and once the book written doing to one of these Depp charges, the boot exploded causing the men to fly airborne during the explosion plus I remember to seeing which feature jaws riding in one of these boots when agent 007 deployed a glider, and had taken off from his because it was a waterfall ahead, because I remember seeing jaws rip the steering wheel from the boat, and once he went over the falls, he disappeared.
