(HOW TO) Take your Beginner Straight Pour to the next level!

- The straight pour... Many beginners in fluid, acrylic pouring begin with this technique. I created this episode to help the budding newbie with some advanced tips and tricks to elevate their art to the next level. Fluid art techniques can be achieved with a number of different mediums in multiple ways. I suggest starting out with intermediate, student grade acrylic tube paint. In the long run you get the best bang for your buck and this quality of acrylic paints are good for almost every technique out there.
My recipe is 2 Parts Floetrol : 1 Part Paint and the consistencies are slightly different. I did not worry about matching them in this episode and saw no real change. My white paint is sligthtly thinner than all the other colors.
My cloud mix: 1 Part Satin Enamels DecoArt to 1 Part Artist Loft Soft body then add 2 parts floetrol. You want your cloud mix a little thinner than your pouring paints.

Indeed very true the art community call our paintings pure luck, alot of controversy as whether acrylic pours are art or not, been doing it 5 months and it's hard I won't lie sometimes I scrape my canvas 4/5 times, personally this is art not luck it does take time and thought, both pieces are beauties ❤

I just started pouring a fer months ago....and im getting good results all because i spent time reserching first..i also paint in oils bob ross style........now im going to start doing oils ontop whhen the pours dry....way more options ....thanks for all the tips.😊

Hi my name is Deb from Queensland Australia. I came across you on FB. Love how easy your explanations are. Can you tell me please what you used to get cells. The galaxy phase you are talking about looks amazing. For me I am ocean driven as I surf and I love the ocean colours.With added bonus colours of course. My goal is to actually cover the deck of a very retro longboard I have.
This is exactly what I needed to know. Also, I have a bunch of Pearl Medium and wondered if I can use that instead of the Deco Art?
Hey Karen! What kind if Pearl medium do you have. I would definitely give it a try. Metallics are also more prone to help with cells if that is the goal.

Sometimes, usually no though because I mixed my paints slowly and usually let them sit overnight. Thanks for stopping by.
Another beauty. I love the permanent light blue tips, along with the motion. Good layering of colors. Are you no longer torching? Or satisfied with the cell development with it? Seems like i always have bubbles to pop, but i also dont rest my paints long enough!
It depends Jodie. Many times I'm satisfied with the cells I have. Letting the paints rest is key.
When do you think they will be on your website? Since the video just came out, it is understandable they aren't listed. I am interested in knowing the price so I can see if its in the budget. I've been watching tons of YT videos from various artists and this is the first time I've been interested in owning something that I've seen. You can definitely spin it out. I've been trying to perfect the tilting process so I do that alot of spinning is a much safer bet haha.

Beautiful paintings. My one question is: can you use less expensive indoor house (satin enamel) paint instead of the Deco Art for the white "clouds?"
Absolutely you can... Artist Loft Soft body works as well. The DecoArt paint does go on sale at Hobby Lobby usually 30-40% off. You can also use Vallejo Pearl Medium to help make cloud effects.
I need more tilt😮ing examples. Did you add any cell activators in any of the paints
No cell activator however you can use a pearl medium like vallejo or satin Enamels to make the cells. I have tons of straight pour videos up to see the tilting.
Are you turning the cup both ways when you get to the last quarter for the vortex effect?
