Some of them are even curious of humans. The Bold Jumping Spider is one of the easiest to pick up because it's trying to figure out what you are, and it's so adorable to watch.
My folks live in a wooded area, and they get tons of jumping spiders who help with pest control. My dad has a routine where a few nights a week he starts up the charcoal grill, feeds the pets while the coals catch, refills the bird feeders and water, and by the time he's done it's time to cook his own dinner now that everyone else is fed. Recently, he noticed when he'd sit down by the grill this same little jumping spider would appear from under the shelf where he sets his utensils and just watch the whole process. And when he was done eating, he'd pack up his stuff and the spider would disappear back under the shelf. After a few times, my dad would greet "Jumpin'," and wave a finger to say hello. Jumpin' started following his finger like he was at a tennis match, and my dad started getting a little closer each time. Sometimes Jumpin' would retreat for a bit, then reemerge. But eventually he was able to get within an inch or two. Then, Jumpin' randomly hopped on his finger and just sort of chilled and looked around, then hopped back to the shelf after a few seconds. The next time he jumped on the second my dad's finger was within range. Eventually he would hop from the shelf to the finger and then to my dad's knee. He'd just hang out while my dad cooked some fish, and at some point would disappear back to his shelf hidey spot. This started around 2018, and the routine has become a summer ritual. The nutso part is it absolutely can't still be the same spider, as they have a maximum life expectancy of 2 years in ideal conditions. So either my dad is a spider-whisperer, or other spiders are observing this and copying the behavior and "taking over" the role. Like he has to be on Jumpin' IV by now. But he's never had to "retrain" Jumpin' when he shows up each summer, so who knows? Whatever the reason, I love that my folks now have a domesticated spider.
Some day they'll be throwing tiny spears after flies and other insects and then they cook the insects over a tiny fire and draw tiny spider stories on walls.

I noticed him watching me and getting closer to the edge of the table. He started waving his little legs at me so I put my hand out. He proceeded to jump back and forth from my hand to the table for a few mins. I felt honored that this cute little guy decided to investigate me and decided that I made a pretty nice jungle gym ❤
I was out in the garden with my camera and saw one on an agapanthus bush. I knelt down on the far side from it and focused up. It always seemed oddly intelligent that it would come to me and I quickly enjoyed its presence. After watching this video I’d like to think it was smart enough to enjoy my presence too. I keep jumping spiders and I highly recommend them as pets. They're very low maintenance, they love to be handled, and it's just a joy to watch a young jumper explore their new enclosure.
Adrian Tchaikovsky's 'Children of Time' is a wonderful sci-fi novel starring _Portia_ jumping spiders, and it totally changed the way I think about spiders.
I am going to have to read that, thanks for the recommendation. Side note, I would love a What If story where Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive jumping spider, but the jumping spider ends up with super powers too and becomes his sidekick. Only problem with that is, jumpers don't bite unless they are under extreme duress.

I was a little kid in New Hampshire when I saw my first jumping spider. I was just finishing washing dishes, and I saw a spider on the counter, sitting in the sun. The iridescent blue on the spider mesmerized me! I got as close to it as possible (I don't have great eyesight like they do!) and it completely ignored me. I was getting over my arachnophobia, so this was a big step for me. It was too cute to be scary!

Ps: we also have a froggie living in our bathroom

I got out and let him continue with his day unbothered.)

The first jumping spiders of the year sat basking in the sun on my door walking outside yesterday, it made my day. I used to have arachnophobia and these guys removed it for me, not just for jumping spiders. They are however the only ones I befriend when they move inside the house, any other will be moved back out. It's obvious that they go from cautious to relaxed upon recognizing you once you get to know one. Even lifting their head up to look at you almost like a greeting. Love these guys.
Over the past month I've been able to get some good up close photos of different little jumpers while camping. It's like they are drawn to me. I had a clean jar and made a habitat for one cutie that was following me. I left the top off, and delivered it a stunned fly. It finally came out after a safe nap and I put it on a tree. I'm honored for their company .
First time seeing your content but this was awesome! I also have a jumping spider (phidippus regius) and they really are the most adorable little creatures! It's amazing how tiny they are too, I also have tarantulas and my sub-adult jumpy boy is even smaller than both of my spiderling tarantulas (avacularia purpurea and grammostola pulchra). Massive difference in interactions too! The tarantulas generally just chill, barely move and oftentimes can't even be seen because they are in their burrows. The jumping spider is constantly on the move, always observing and actually responds if you wave at it. Plus their sleepytime shut down melts my heart, they're like the most adorable little spider bots lol

A cool idea for a horror game could be you being shrunk down and being hunted by a jumping spider. Kinda like grounded but on a smaller scale. You could have a really cool reactive spider AI that learns your patterns and adapts to them slowly learning how to best hunt you down.
I loved owning them. I watched their whole life cycle. If you want to see the cutest thing in the world. Look up jumping spider hatchling. They are so tiny and orange. I was so worried because I was at a loss as to what to feed them. They don't need to eat till their body hardens and that took several days. I got them some fruit flies and its cute watching a tiny little spider carry a fly half its size in its mouth.
The jumping spider, helped me to overcome my arachnophobia. It would not have been possible without them. This explains the little fellow that lived in my windowsill, in my office. I was working as a draftsman, and my drafting table was up against the window. When the sun would come and shine through the window, he would show up. I had the feeling he was watching me. He had run onto my drafting board and my pencil. Having a phobia, this was very distressing. But I knew jumping spiders were harmless, so I did my best to deal with it. He also ate a lot of flies and more than one roach. I would use my ruler to move them off my board sometimes. Thanks to him, it was a start of overcoming the stupid fear, we are not Food. Spiders couldn’t care less about us.

i sometimes have little jumpingspiders in my room ... they are like 5mm big and its crazy to see how these tiny being actually LOOK AROUND and dont just react to stimuli
they look up and down any object that you bring near them ...truly a Spider 2.0
This reminds me of a small spider that would always jump on me or my chair when I was sitting on my back porch. I’m not sure if it was the same spider every time but there was never more than one and one would always chill with me for about a month out there. It always seemed oddly intelligent that it would come to me and I quickly enjoyed its presence. After watching this video I’d like to think it was smart enough to enjoy my presence too. I don’t see him anymore; I hope he’s alive and well or has lived a fulfilling life.
It’s a shame I have arachnophobia. I absolutely love the little guys. You can see the gears turning in their heads. I wish I had the willpower to interact with them more.
Your approach itself is why I'm here again. Take any topic you wish, you have a gift of presenting it in interesting manner.
I like this sort of content too although some people might disagree. I think you should keep making content regardless ifits about trucks transport or other.
i love these passion filled "hey let me just quickly talk this out" kind of videos
Same
I keep jumping spiders and I highly recommend them as pets. They're very low maintenance, they love to be handled, and it's just a joy to watch a young jumper explore their new enclosure.
Probably one of the few spiders I can consider “cute”.
Congrats on blowing past 50,000 subscribers. I have also always liked jumping spiders.
Hi, everybody!
Lived in NYC for 35 years. I still haven't found one of these guys. Been looking ever since I moved out of the city.
Jumping spiders got me over my fear of spiders. Ive had several encounters with just holding one in my hand and you can just tell it's trying to figure out what you are. They are super curious and you can just tell they know what's going on
Tbh Jumping Spiders are one of the few Spiders I have a Rule to try not to harm as while they can bite people generally speaking I doubt they will unless it is a last resort of self-defense....plus the way they look and act is just adorable to me.
"Making quick depth calculations on the fly -haha- "
"Even more advanced than some humans as they posses the rare quality known as learning from mistakes" 🖐😌👌
Informative, humorous, nicely put together. Very nice 👍
When you said they move me in low frame rate. It reminded me of how miles morales moves in a low frame rate in the game and the movie
i nearly burst out crying at every video i see of these sweet little critters because of how adorable they are! the way they move and look around at stuff, plus their big eyes and colorful mouthparts make them some of the cutest little things in the invertebrate world. i really wish more people liked these guys
I know this video is a year old, but I saw it for the first time and loved it.
Jumping spiders are the only spiders I respect, others get bonked with a shoe. FYI, I'm Australian, if I don't bonk the others, they'll bonk me.
jumping spiders are the best spiders. I'm scared of most spiders but these ones are cute
I've always loved jumping spiders but I had no idea they were THIS cool
I have a jumping spider living on the back wall of my house, I sometimes see it crawling on my windows. One time it broke into my house, promptly ate 3 mosquitos, 4 flies, and 1 tiny beetle over the course of two and a half days, and then left. Such bold, adventurous little guys, love em.
Jumping spiders are so cute and friendly. I wish I had one as a pet.
Spiders, garbage trucks, I love it all. I'd stay subbed if this turned into a animal channel.
Wasn't expecting you to make a video about anything other than trucks, Much less spiders
You're multi-talented
Its like they are made to be little friends
I routinely look for jumping spider videos of any sort because I love them very much, and this video is really really good!! I also like to think jumping spiders can dream :]
Me: I’m arachnophobic
Jumping spider: 👀👁️👁️👄👁️👁️👀
Me: I’m getting a spider
I thought this video was about trucks
Wait I just finished the entire vid. This isn't about trucks?
*JUMPING spiders* can see depth with a single eye, unlike almost all other being on the planet that require at least a pair.
Your videos keep getting better and better, keep up the good work!
When I see a new Yukon video I think “what did I sub to him for again? Spiders? I don’t sub to any spider channels, but, whatever, if Yukon put it out, it’s worth a watch.”
Best kinda content creator, whatever it is, it’s worth a watch.
And I wasn’t disappointed in this one either.
That shot of the translucent one looking around was wild
Don't apologize for making content you enjoy. Chances are, other folks will enjoy them if its honest and good intentioned. I loved this. I was a fan of jumping spiders before but had no idea that they were capable of object permanence. That's incredible. Great video!
It was too cute to be scary!
woah, thanks for this banger upload today! i love the way you format your content, and how as long as the subject is something you're interested in, the videos always end up highly engaging and entertaining! keep up the amazing work^^
Me and my husband have a full blown colony of jumping spiders as roommates, yeah our house is full of spiderwebs but it is worth it for the hapiness that seeing this tiny little guys around brings us. our favorite spider was the only one that had a white marking on it, she was small at first but got huge, it then disapeared and a lot of other tiny spiders with white markings showed up, i believe she gave birth and died soon after, i love her and love her babies.
Ps: we also have a froggie living in our bathroom
If this is true, this also brings me much happiness hearing about that.😊😊😊
I watched one of these little cuties as he sat on the window of my car one day. I moved my finger around under him across the glass, and eventually he _did_ notice. He followed my finger and stared at it with what I can only describe as wonder. Such cute and smart little critters. (Don't worry, I didn't drive off while he was there. I got out and let him continue with his day unbothered.)
Thank you for bringing the community and researchers together. You are pretty much in the 2% who can explain and catch the attention on these subjects.
Absolutely incredible video
Yukon always makes the most interesting videos about topics I've never thought of
We have hundreds of zebra jumping spiders all around the house and I just cannot get over how much fun they are to watch. Whether they’re hunting or just wandering, they wind up being infinitely entertaining to observe.
Also their adorable little faces always make me smile when I see them.
Jumping spiders are just so fascinating. I just can’t get over how cute they are. 🥹☺️🥰
Your presentation and insight are authentic. While I, as a viewer, super appreciate your transparency with your content and its direction, honestly just do you. It's refreshing.
5:15 - so true! If only people cared less about their ego, and more about actually moving forward.
This is hands down the best video about jumping spiders I have ever seen. The passion you have for arachnids is clearly visible! ☺️
My wife has a couple that have taken up residence in her car , coming out to seemingly say hello when she starts the car . They suddenly appear on the dash and just watch her and hang out for a minute ! Really funny they are !
Loved the spider episode!
I can definitely see you make more videos about unique and quirky animals/insects in your signature style
Love this, please be reassured that while you can make more than one topic very interesting to watch!
You should definitely do more geography videos, like the ones on Cascadia and the Kerguelen Islands.
I work in an auto repair shop, we have a jumper I see from time to time and it’s always fascinating to watch.
5:50 he threw an ender pearl
First time seeing your content but this was awesome! I also have a jumping spider (phidippus regius) and they really are the most adorable little creatures! It's amazing how tiny they are too, I also have tarantulas and my sub-adult jumpy boy is even smaller than both of my spiderling tarantulas (avacularia purpurea and grammostola pulchra). Massive difference in interactions too! The tarantulas generally just chill, barely move and oftentimes can't even be seen because they are in their burrows. The jumping spider is constantly on the move, always observing and actually responds if you wave at it. Plus their sleepytime shut down melts my heart, they're like the most adorable little spider bots lol
im glad you decided to branch out! im not really into trucks, but i LOVE spiders and other little big guys! (or big bugs! :D) now you have a second audience!
Bugs are best friends
Thanks...Love jumping spiders!
I thought I was the only guy who was into trucking and jumping spiders! I love those little critters, and they're very easy to find in the Mediterranean region where I live. Keep up the good work man!
So cool man.this is exactly the kind of video I was looking for!
jumping spiders are to spiders as fuitbats are to bats
There's something special with jumping spiders. I remember that in my childhood I thought them cool and cute, almost sociable, while most other spiders were disgusting.
I cant be the only person who for a breif but intense moment sat on the edge of my seat at 5:14 filled with curiosity only to start wheezing once the fact was told 🤣
Edit: I came for the trucks but ill defaintly stay for the random content, Educate me on things i would of never go out of my way to find answers for and ill soak it up 🙌
legit had me rolling
This my favorite Arachnid. I have always found them to be curious, intelligent and very entertaining.
Keep it up! Maybe one on Lobsters?
Im glad you brought this video back to the main channel!! It just felt wrong with it being on the second channel with sub 2k views.
16 videos on trucks
1 video on spiders
Interesting
I already loved jumping spiders for my whole life, but now I love them even more
Hey this isn’t a truck video
I LOVE jumping spiders thank you for this video
I was just thinking of their eyes and apparent focus motion the other day, this explained all perfectly, thanks. Wonderful vid.
Jumping spiders were the ones that kind of took away some phobia. Still, the fast large house spiders are huge no no
You're the only one who convinced me to no longer attempt burning my house whenever I see these arachnid
This isn't a video about multi ton hunks of metal that keep a country's economy together, and I'm perfectly fine with that. This is amazing.
3:47 I love that nature was like "hmm yes Jumping spiders look too cute, lets give them an eyebrow pattern on their skin to make them look angry"
It’s so cute how these little guys actually look around so curiously
I don't really like spider much and they are scary but these little guys are cool and cute. they seem very friendly and harmless. fun to watch.
