Lucy was one of Carol's biggest boosters professionally, and a lifelong pal--in fact, when Lucy's death was announced (on Carol's birthday) Carol got a double shock when later that day flowers and a birthday card arrived from Lucy, who had arranged to send them in advance.
I hope Carol Burnett lives to be at least 100, because once she's gone that's it. She came from an era when you had to have TALENT to be a star. She is the only one of her kind still living. (Betty White, excluded, of course)
Humm... Look closely. Could this be the same set ued for the Dick Van Dyke show living room? Both Lucy and Vandyke's shows were filmed at Desilu studios until 1967 when it was sold to Gulf Western.
I'd say Carol Burnett is the funniest female comic. Lucy was more slapstick than anything. And, she would maliciously go over her act step by step. And, Carol would often come up with a sight gag or script change off the cuff just to make the rest of her cast break character.
What a wonderful wonderful treat! Two of the best female entertainers in the world together! I love Lucille and Carol. During those times, actors were REAL actors! Meaning, that they had Sing, Dance, Swim and some much other stuff beside, of course, ACT! I'm pretty young but I grew up appreciating these two ladies because of the talent and genius that obvious on their shows. Nowadays, you need to fart, make sex innuendos and act like total idiots to make people laugh. Jeez, what have we become.
Actors should only be expected to act. And there are still witty comedies that don't rely on toilet humor (a staple of comedy dice Shakespearean times btw) and multi talented ENTERTAINERS. Things like this can be enjoyed without being a pretentious blowhard.
Their is absolutely no one on earth to equal Carol Burnett ;)
Oh this makes me smile from ear to ear! I love Carol Burnett!
Forgot all about this. Made me and my little sister cry laughing when we were little.
Dat was funny a hell! The best part is the end when she clutches her coat like she's covering up.

I watched this with my neighbor a few months ago and we both laughed so hard that we cried lol!
Only Carol Burnett could have made this work at all, and she absolutely nailed it. Brilliant.

if you watch this episode of this show, then lucy's reaction is 50000000 times more priceless!
Oh Carol, you know how to drag a sweater better than anyone I know. Not to mention turn an old standard into a vamp vehicle extraordinaire.
Maury Thompson, the show's director, claimed he had to teach Carol all of the dance steps. Obviously, she was a good student!
Haha, I LOVE this Richard!!!!!!!!!!!!! Remember when daddy said he had a crush on Carol Burnett????????

Yes, that was Lucy. This is from her show, The Lucy Show, after I Love Lucy ended.

I thought the same thing. The bay window area and the entry look very familiar.
Wow good eye
That's what I used to think when I was little. They do look similar, but it's not the same studio.
Great Fun

It is 1967
They are cheering so loud it is hard to hear all of the lyrics!!!

Lucy's apartment looks like Rob and Laura Petrie's home
I was just thinking that! Must have hired the same architect, haha.
Comic rendition is great by Carol but Bea Arthur singing this is the best version bar none!
i believe it's from 1963.
@joplin49b 1966

ruined one of the best songs of all time... tisk tisk...
RimmyJimmy this is comedy honey, so I think it's okay.
Ella Fitzgerald can eat her heart out
Lol I disagree, I like how she does it all burlesque-y
Rimmy Jimmy has a tin ear-y
