This is the longplay of the game Super Mario Land 2 DX, hacked game from Super Mario Land (action and platform game for Game Boy). This modification was made by toruzz and released in 2022 for the Game Boy Color. As with the first Super Mario Land, this modification of Super Mario Land 2 was also made by toruzz, however this second game was released first, having been released in 2017.
Super Mario Land 2 was considered a game that explored the Game Boy's graphics capacity very well, with well-detailed characters and scenarios, in addition to a good soundtrack. This game also marks the debut of the character Wario, a kind of evil version of Mario, who has stolen Mario's private island to attach it to his riches. Our hero Mario needs to travel the world and collect 6 golden coins to access Wario's Castle and prevent him from taking over the island. In addition to the mushroom, the fire flower and the star, there is also a carrot-shaped item that allows you to wear rabbit ears on the hat, allowing you to float in the air but losing the ability to use the spin jump (used to break blocks with the feet). Super Mario Land 2 was originally released in 1992 and takes some concepts from Super Mario World (released for the SNES years before), but with its own personality.
It's an incredible game and it's even more beautiful with this hack, where toruzz, in addition to giving extra color, also created new graphics to refer to more classic games and also gave the possibility to play with Luigi, who has a higher jump taller than Mario's. The video was shot with both characters completing all stages and finding all secret stages. It's a great hack, being able to play on an emulator or on the Game Boy Color. Hope you like it.

My family all shared a single Gameboy, I remember playing Tetris and the TMNT game a lot but mostly just listening to the Tetris music on repeat for long periods of time. When I finally got my hands on the Mario land games I was so excited, this one will always be very dear to me.

I'm not really sure how much farther gaming development can go. We went from this, to games like gran turismo in virtual reality. If youve ever driven that, its too close to reality for words. What will gaming be like in 10 years?

God I love Mario Land 2 so much. Sure the gameplay was nothing revolutionary, but the way it was displayed was exciting. Nintendo today lacks imagination. Imagine how special this game would've felt if it was in color like this back in 1992...
34:10 was that Kid Dracula? Must've been an easter egg, because you don't see him anywhere in whole Mario Land 2.
