Hei Hei Ruth I am not a good fisherman but Perch will chase any kind of bait. Therefore shrimp or Maggots or even a corner of ham would have worked. I was watching the ice auger cutting through and I guessed about 30 cm also, but I had to guess in my mind inches first and then convert to cm. The temperature on your day looked about -10 C.
