I like this area a lot. It's the Perrymont area of Lynchburg VA. It's very close to the Perrymont Elementary School (and my barber). And you are 10 to 13 minutes from all the markers we normally talk about in these videos; Virginia University of Lynchburg, Randolph College, University of Lynchburg, Liberty University, downtown Lynchburg and the Community Market, Lynchburg General Hospital, and the Lynchburg Regional Airport.
You'll find homes at and below the $250,000 price point that average about 1,500 square feet. (Some are larger. Some are smaller.) The homes we look at in this video are all built between 1940 and 1956. Some have been updated quite a bit. Some could use some updates.

What kind of monthly expenses can be expected when owning a house?
Utilities (water, sewer, trash, electricity)
Property taxes (may be wrapped into your mortgage)
Heat source? Gas or electric?
Those are the definite expenses.
Almost everyone has internet. So your internet costs.
Maintenance and upkeep. The older the home the more you may want to save each month so you have something if there’s an issue with the HVAC or roof, etc.
If you have a yard, you’ll need to cut the grass yourself or pay someone.
