I've bought the same 2 weeks ago. Works great. I've put it in a Mini pc Elitedesk i5 6500T and that's nice. Have to boot on right disk and that's all. I can play all console but PS3 emulation is quite hard with this processor. I paid 18€ for this batocera disk. I'm very happy of it 👍
@5:40 dumb question perhaps. But did you try 'Auto'? I just ask as I just watched another video where the guy was having same issue with the arcade emu games. He set it to auuto and solved his problem apparently!
I've got an old (and ridiculously loud) Acer with an i3 4130 with igpu. It's a dedicated Batocera machine (well, until I make it quieter it'll be a dedicated dust collector) and honestly, I feel it actually works better. Heck, I think Cadilacs and dinosaurs work better on my cheap and very weak Xiaomi smart TV.
Awesome video ! How could you go wrong for the price ? Ok, there are duplicate . There are way more expensive hard drives with lots of duplicates. Not all games will work. Video should have been way longer. Most hard drives are not curated well.
The cases on these slide apart really easily. Do yourself a favour and do this. Then look at the date on the drive inside. Mine was over 10 years old. They're clearly repurposed laptop hdd's.
I just got one from Temu. I checked and mine was made in June 2013. It is one of the old WD Blue drives. About to go hook it up and see if I can make it work.

Can this be used as an easy access legally safer alternative to downloading rom sets yourself like to use in a home arcade cabinet? Is it possible to copy the roms you want from this hdd and run them on a different system? Thanks
Yes u can. It uses batocera. So all the roms are there. U can also download and add more to it. Just press F1 from the main screen to access the file system. Really easy to use
@@cocktailzombie $20 is cheap enough. Basically paying for the hard drive and getting the roms for free. Saves u the time and trouble looking for it yourself.
@@ll_spudIs the entirety of the drive able to copy to a larger drive to make it have space for more PS3 and Xbox roms, or can I copy it to a large m.2, I'm not sure if its USB boot only. I just bought the same drive but it's not arrived yet and I'm just curious to what I can do with it.
The games that wouldn't run well was probably more to do with the pc as apposed to the drive maybe the emulators need updating. As for the ones that didn't load it's probably a emulator issue. But most problems would be solved with a more powerful computer I run ps2 gamecube and Dreamcast on a mini computer with no graphics card but it has an AMD Ryzen 7 6800h and 32GB of RAM so it's all dependent on the system not the drive.
So a workaround for the games not working it could be a region thing you can change the region settings and it should be able to be playable none of the emulators or anything into systems are fine-tuned
No probably not, you would do better going to one of the retro game sites, the best you'll get from a chromebook would be the 16bit era games like snes and Genesis you're not going to be able to run N64, playstation, or anything newer.
How the ganes play will depend on the system you're using and the configuration of the emulator for each. Of course its not plug and play and shouldn't be said to be

You tried PS@ but just for the one game. Did any of the others run?
Do u need a PC to get it working? Or can I just plug and play into my tv?
It's just a harddrive, you need a PC.
Thanks for showing demon front ! I am now hunting it down.

You did pay under $20 😂
If you clone the drive to an SSD it will be VERY good. FPS will be better.
Would this be good just for a backup of the roms themselves?
Definitely
I would clone IT to ssd ....😂 These old hdds are cheap... But nice Thing... I think about to Order such one...
They using 100year old used hdd drives i returned it 4 times until i Transfer all data to a new hdd which now runs flawless

Press F1 to get to the File System. Then plug in a usb drive and you can copy over the roms to the usb drive.
Yes, windows can see all the system file of the disk. You can also add and remove rom as you want. Very Nice and cheap stuff.
