Ugh... can't believe I have to drive to Mesquite this year for a guitar show, lol. I guess I've been spoiled with it being in the middle of the metroplex for so long. That was really a great location. I'm sure I'll enjoy it...just such a drive out to the far east side.
My dad bought me a complete Slingerland kit when I was 7 yrs old. It was metallic green. I played drums with our Choir teacher on piano when we’d go to rest homes and play for the folks. When I turned 13,girls didn’t seem so “ Yucky” anymore and a kit was too much to haul around to impress them so I traded them in on a U.S. Made Epiphone acoustic in 1973,and the rest is history.
I was at the Arlington Show in '85, '86 with Jam Music Magazine. I was a writer and had no idea what to expect. Both years I took a bass and ended up trading it 🥴. But I saw some fantastic guitars!
My first time going to Guitarlington. I was there on day 1 (Saturday). Had a great time. I hope it isn’t the last time. I’m already making plans for next year….if there IS a next year.
It was a treat to see you guys on Day 1 of the public sale. It was sad to find out that it won't be in Arlington anymore. I was the guy who had his friend rolling a dolley around just in case I bought something. It wasn't my idea,he insisted, lol. I hope to see you guys again and maybe buy something from you guys when I see you all again.
Fun video guys! Be interesting to see where the guitar show is next year eh? My favorite guitar was the ah Blue Jazz Master or the Pink tele but I was curious about the gold Strat I see you have on display, it looks a bit from what I can tell, like my Vintera Roadworn strat, which I love, but it is probably a different one! thanks guys!
I'm obsessed with that homemade doubleneck at 25:50 and that Gibson L-1 at Tone Chasers at 21:50. I hope to see you guys at the Philly show this weekend but sounds like you'll be having more fun in Japan!
I went to Arlington around 1992 to sell one guitar. Pretty amazing how the prices have changed so much. The vintage market has become out of reach for 90% of the guitar playing public. I sold my 1961 SG custom with three PAF's back then for $ 2,000 and was lucky to get it.
Yeah. But it's about to drop when this economy can't be propped up any longer. Just read an article with Bonomassa where he agreed. He remembered how the 2008 collapse brought the prices back down in a hurry. I'm starting to see alot of entire collections on Reverb and stuff I never used to see. Or at least not very often. Frankly I'd rather the economy be good and guitar prices stay up but don't see it happening.
Like your videos. I live in Dallas and used to go to the Dallas show every year starting back in late 80's when Charlie's used to do it. I've been to the Arlington one several times. From what I see in the videos of guitar shows the public attendance drop is stunning from even just 10 years ago. It used to be a hassle to carry a guitar in a case around due to all the people. Started to go to this show to sell a guitar or two but couldn't make it. With attendance like this I can't see these shows continuing which is sad. Ebay and Reverb have just about killed the guitar show.
Very cool coverage of the show. I haven't been in a few years, so great to see. I guess it's slow due to troubling economic times everywhere. Things can only get better! BTW I liked the Jazzmaster you picked up!
Hi, I got a question. I was going to head over to the Philadelphia guitar show this past weekend, but it was advertised as cash only. I’ve never seen that before. Is this the new thing or just at that show? Thank.
Fun video…I live in Dallas and used to frequent the big shows around the metroplex. That Fender offset guitar with the “thin skin” finish, that you picked up toward the end of the video, was definitely my favorite. Dumb question, when you come to shows like this are you more focused on (1) buying guitars to add to your inventory, (2) trading guitars to improve the mix of your inventory, or (3) selling guitars? It could just be the clips you chose to include in this video, but it felt like you were leaving our fair state with more gear than you arrived with. Considering your growing group of YT followers and then ever increasing internet based market place, attending a show to help build a stronger inventory makes sense to me. Just wondering. Great stuff, thanks!
Thanks for this nice video and a lot of guitars, that didn't made it,into this video. Was that a Martin D-41 in the stand of Flashflood Guitars? I'm curious about your next video, going to Japan again.Look out there for Tama and Terada guitars. Especially Terada higher end modells like the Pro Stage Series guitars(build in Barcus Berry pick up system with Rosewood volume and tone knobs),their ES 335 modell guitars(to my opinion, better made as Gibson and probably solid woods),but also Terada made guitars(same kind of modells) under adifferent label, like Wotan,Hohner etc.
First time viewer . . . . . . great vid ! ! ! The only thing in this world that could be better than playing for a living would be buying guitars for a living ! ! Thumbs up and a scribe for you guys ! !
i've been to just a handful of these guitar shows in the past 5 years or so, and I must say, prices are really not reasonable. it's fun to go and all and look at some pretty cool gear., but you can find better deals than asking prices by dealers at these shows by just doing a quick search on the internet while at these shows. when asked if they can do a deal to get closer to what you see on the internet, they mostly say prices on the internet are fake and/or there is something probably "wrong" with the guitars. also still get the odd response they are still "brick and mortar" and need to pay the bills...
I just turned 63 and have never had a fish “taco”.Something just doesn’t sound right about those 2 words being used together. It’s kinda like Meat “Loaf”.
22:01 "how much we doing on the Bassmen $800' LOL I use to buy silverpanels like that all day long in 1990 $75 when nobody wanted them because JCM800's were the "in" amp. Used to give $125 - $150 for blackpanels back then too. Very much worth that price, but not so much for $800. Not versatile enough.
I'm always happy to see another RS440, for playability I'm sorry Fender you lost that round by some distance .... at any price point! The raw, mix cutting, bite of the bridge pickup is insane on mine. HOWEVER seeing yours did finally fully confirm that I do not have the original scratch-plate on mine , which in turn suggests maybe I don't have the original pickups. That's doubly mad, because the unlabelled pickup in the bridge is my favourite bridge pickup OF ALL TIME! and I don't know for sure what it is. This makes me wish I had access to multiple RS440s (for research purposes) like it seems you may have. Sadly (or happily ,depending on your viewpoint) I can't drop by the shop to try yours ... you fell into my youtube feed despite me being in the UK!
Dude you say..."Don't pick up and play if you don't know the dealer." That's your opinion. If they have them on display you can pick it up and play them. Also you can ask, "May I" don't be so arbitrary!
I'm just saying to ask permission before picking up a guitar at a show or in a shop is all. In this particular case I was saying I know this dealer personally so it's not shown that I asked before playing.
No Les Paul's purchased or sold (or did I miss It), makes for a sort of meh video! As for favorite guitar(s) you acquired, the Jazz Master and offset Telecaster at the end.
No!!!!many more to come boys and girl🤘🎸🤘🎸🤘🎸
I hate when these videos are over!!!
Ugh... can't believe I have to drive to Mesquite this year for a guitar show, lol. I guess I've been spoiled with it being in the middle of the metroplex for so long. That was really a great location. I'm sure I'll enjoy it...just such a drive out to the far east side.

Big fan of these show videos. Thanks fellas.

I didn't see it in the video but my favorite was the pink paisley Tele.
Freakin Johnathon Burns 😂 what’s up bro! I swear I’ll run into him everywhere but our town

Yeah man it's impacted everything not just guitars. I hear you though

Did they sell anything? Man I wanna do this one day
Stay hydrated, Alex.
You coming to great American Oaks, Pa Guitar Show Next Week, I know I saw ya Last ye@r
We did summer Philly, but never done the fall one. Currently in Japan though, so not gonna make it this year either unfortunately!
The double bound shell pink Tele with a refinish looked nice. Is it for sale? Oh, yeah, I just subbed, looking forward to Japan!

What is that guitar you’re holding at the 27 minute mark? Anyone know?
First time viewer . . . . . . great vid ! ! ! The only thing in this world that could be better than playing for a living would be buying guitars for a living ! ! Thumbs up and a scribe for you guys ! !
You should do more with drums but great work
Personally I liked that Pink TELECASTER..when is it going to be listed???
THE LAST ONE?!?!?
The tele was 🤌
it took nearly 6 minutes to hear "you love to see it'

Why are they shutting it down?
The venue is being turned into an art museum from what we were told!
@@aflashfloodofgear So they have to be able to find another location in a large area like that, right?
Yes new venue already found.
Haha, an art museum in Arlington, TX. Right next to Globe Life and the Death Star. I'm sure it will be a big success.@@aflashfloodofgear

She should be thanking you - not charging you. Lol
What are the Rittenhouse guitars instruments? Did you have such guitars?
Seems Arlington needs a Dutch Bros.
As of this post we have four Dutch Bros in Arlington.
GuitArlington is for buying. just as the left lane on the Interstate is for passing... ONLY !

The tailpiece/bridge on those are crap! My 440 T/B cracked and I had to replace it. Then the second one cracked. Absolute Japanese Junk!
Wtf? Don't know about Kent Drums? I'm sure you've heard plenty since then. I grew up with those down the road from me!
Where's the Chinese guy!?, I like him the best out of all you guys
Jazzmaster

I think you guys should fly the Flag and wear company T shirts or Hoodies...
They work hard to not have to wear a uniform!!
Every guitar you see you call cool
It's not clean : there's smudges all over it
Can't he at least actually play something sometime.. all he ever does is this 10 second unplugged noodling.. As soon as he picks up a guitar
I swear he never seems happy
Boring. I would never go to a guitar show.
No Les Paul's purchased or sold (or did I miss It), makes for a sort of meh video! As for favorite guitar(s) you acquired, the Jazz Master and offset Telecaster at the end.
While the LP wasn’t shown, at 31:07 Alex explains a deal that he worked out involving our gold top and some roadstars!
I could kill for a Gibson Les Paul but they are damn expensive nowadays smh but my dream Les Paul was a 2013 vermillion burst model
