  • I wrote this in April 2020, after everything shut down. Was thinking just how much you can love and like someone, even if you are at total political odds. This song is part of my soon to be released album, Spring Break. I am loving being a Patreon artist (www.patreon.com/willkimbrough). My first 150 Patreon patrons will receive this new CD and download free of charge, and also have access to my new #Pollenfest t-shirts first! The Lyrics:
We’ve been friends a million years so long I can’t recall
From Smart ass teenage buddies to middle age-ed dads here in the fall of life
Our wives still pretty, grown-up kids
and com-for-table houses in good neighborhoods
    With good enough careers
I Can’t help it brother but love you still
    My right wing friend
Remember when you paged in Congress Washington DC
My band would come and play and we’d crash at your place for free
Just Drunken knuckleheads pretending we were grown men
Now we’re slower fatter versions of the boys we were back then
I love you and I always will
    My right wing friend
Through the glory days of Reagan
    And old Bush 41
From Bill and Hill to W we sprinted towards the sun
And now the sunset is in view,
I am older going grey so are you
This is the story time will always tell
    We all become exaggerated versions
    of our parents and ourselves
    Through eight years of Obama
We Raised our bright eyed kids
For a time we left off politics
    Screwed down tight the lid
And took our families on vacation
    To the beautiful Blue Ridge
Laughing drinking hiking nighttime cold beers in the fridge
happy memories of a way back when
    My right wing friend
So here we are in 2020
    Social distancing
Trump is in the White House ain’t life a funny thing
And when the virus took John Prine
We cried there goes my every everything
Now we are all Sam stones
    Along with our balloons
I guess I’ll always love you
Though My views will always rub you
though my views will always rub you
And I know that I’m above you
I will ever always love you
    My right wing friend
