Where are all the NO MIDS jokes?
cmon guys
The new one is all mids! :)
Not all of us have the shitposting skills that you do.
lol
Ask Malcolm
He obviously didn't care about being haired!
0:12 "Spit Out the Blackened Battery"
i have not read a less useful comment in my life
You good sir have committed crimes beyond human judging
Thrash bro
Anon Commenter would’ve never guessed what he meant.
Ese wey
It's crazy how the Metal Zone has gone from a total meme to a well respected pedal in the last year. I wonder if next year people will discover that the line six spider was the secret to boutique tube tone all along.
That's what happens when you give a bad product a bit of love, honestly, boss could've released this as a whole new pedal and no one would be none the wiser.
The Metal Zone got its bad name from incorrect use by amateurs: People new to audio (old audio-engineers in Hungary are also notorious for this) try to use their EQing skills they got from their Hi-Fi or Winamp by cutting all the mids.
+László Szerémi
lol no. The original Metal Zone got its bad name because it was noisy, gain pot had no usable range, EQ pots had a way too steep curve etc.
The re-made Waza edition fixed all those issues.
ErebosGR if you look at Ola Englund’s channel, he tested out the original pedal and it worked fine for him after he plugged it in through the effects loop in his amp
I know, dude. I didn't say it doesn't work. All of the high-gain pedals can/should be used in the effects loop, that doesn't negate all the other issues.
This video made me want a Metal Zone. A sentence I never thought I'd write.
It makes me regret selling the two I've had.
I thought about it but I went revv
I remember back in the days when I could pick them up $10 a pop because pawn shops had a PLETHORA of them. Now its $50+ and you're lucky if you find one in the whole town...
I didn’t expect this but hair metal and Swedish death metal sounded really really good. Well done Pete!
Why didn't you expect it? Not tryna pick fights I'm legit curious
I did a Metalzone vs Revv G3 video on my channel just before they released the Waza version. The original just doesn't have the midrange to do any hair metal stuff. Looks like the new one is actually improved!
Swedish death metal on this pedal shouldn't be surprising. At the Gates and Entombed favoured the metal zone pretty heavily, for instance.
swedish death metal bands never used the metal zone and at the gates isn’t even a traditional swedish death metal band, despite this guy ripping off slaughter of the soul in the video
@@oatmeal710 actually that were some mainstream normies who named the whole scene so. It should be just Swedish metal without the "Death". I mean most of those sound power metal (a modern version).
Pete doesn't upload frequently but when he does it is something to be remembered. your videos are pure gold dude
Thanks! :)
what Mr. Mind said
Great art takes time.
I've always stood by my Metal Zone! Don't worry little pedal, I will protect you!
It would have been nice of you to show the respective EQ for every genre....
Agreed
yep can we see the eq settings
I particularly liked the Djent and Brutal Death Metal, great square wave clipping almost synth like or bit crusher going on with the basses strings. We need to see the settings.
Pete, loved it as usual, but I think when you're doing these promos for a particular pedal, it would be a good idea to have an image of the settings you have in place for each style up in the corner or something. I kept wondering what changes you were making to the settings for each style!
Keep up the great work!
What he said
I second this
Agree, it's a pity you don't show knob settings on pedals testing... and did you plugged it in clean, boost channel, or FX-loop ? does it react well with gain boost in front of it ? cya!
This!
He didn't put settings because there are other pedals involved like it can be seen on 5:08 like DC-2W.
3:02 "LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOR, LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOR, LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOOOORRR"
That "brutal death" part sounded straight from All Hope Is Gone haha
3:02 JUMP JUMP JUMP JUMP JUMP JUMP JUMP JUMP JUMP JUMP JUMP JUMP JUMP JUMP JUMP JUMP JUMP JUMP
Me Me Big Boy seriously I can hear that 😂
Me Me Big Boy jump
Got a metal zone and I'm currently using it as a preamp. Most convenient pedal ever and it sounds bomb.
Now i want a tutorial about how to dial in each tone
And by the way, that 7 string chapman is gorgeous
10 Styles, 1 Pedal. Let’s summon the Metal Zone from the depths of Hell! \m/
🤘🔥🎸🔥🤘 well done bro
Awesome riffs man, the hair metal one was legit
We did the same video idea for this...at least people will see yours. Awesome job
did you put the pedal in the clean or the crunch channel or in the fx-loop?
I'd like to see it used with a bass
brutal death metal and swedish death metal !!! Like!
NAILED THE HAIR METAL ONE!
That hair metal riff was pretty awesome!
Awesome your Guitar Performance Pete. STYLE #9 HAIR METAL RULES !!!
Every shot i see your bass, it brings a tear to my eye, bc I'm broke as heck
It's around $300-$600
I saw stoner metal straight away I went looking for the genre delighted with my discovery thank you pete
Look up Stoned Jesus. They're good
Electric Wizard!
Myewgul done and love them
isn't that a bit too long to be a Grindcore song?
it's even not enough grindcore
It kinda reminded me of misery index. Elements of grindcore, but not fully there.
YOUSUFFERBUTWHY
That's a whole albums worth for you ;)
@@jazztuxoid sure it is
You should've run the Metal Zone into a Spyder for the Black Metal one.
The same people who mocked me for merely owning a metal zone, are now all using one.
Well... it's not the same pedal.
Guitarists are the bitches of marketing guys
Wow that Nu Metal blew my socks off!
I dont know but the riff sound similar like (stronger than death-bls)
@@masarukputih1550 also kinda like part of psychosocial
This channel has become a good source for me for learning about metal bands and styles. Merci.
So now I need 10 of these. Best pedal board ever!
Dude the first riff is on point. So fucking good.
Thanks! :)
@@peteplaysmusic I have the original metal zone but this new one actually sounds pretty damn good. Might get one to test it out. I love all of these riffs you're so talented. I need to get back to practicing!
I honestly really like how unique your playing style is. I tend to draw a lot of inspiration from you Pete whenever I write my own stuff.
I just realised that classic rock is a style of metal😉
It looked based on Highway to Hell though, so basically it's AC DC but with a different style of riff
that brutal death metal section dont sound too brutal death metal
Torso Yes, more in a Bloodbath way
It was basically Nu-Metal, just a bit heavier.
@@platipuce8193 bloodbath is straight death metal Tho
that's what i said
@@truedarklander exactly, it sounded like Bloodbath
Just discovered that I'm a swedish metal fan :) Great video Pete! Cheers!
Check out bands like At The Gates, In Flames and The Haunted. Thanks for watching! .)
Entombed & Dismember he means.
Great job man. Your riffs are all killer.
But does it Dje...oh wait 1:18 yes it does
He just _knew_ that question was coming :p
Not really though.
No, really not
He didn't bust out the 8 string smh
@@ErebosGR all it needs is a TS9 or a Precision Drive in front of it and it will
Still got my MT-2 bought back in 1998 and still fuckin love it. Will never use an other pedal.
The last riffage is just dope shit. Amazing mate.
Love Black metal. thanks for including it as Style 2.
Well Done Pete!! As always you never disappoint in your amazing videos!! Just Thinking out loud!!
I LOVE that black metal tone!
Me to!
Yo the djent section was straight up some Kadinja shit and I was loving it.
Great video, you did justice to the Metal Zone, it sounds killer, be blessed, subscribed !
Thanks for watching and the Sub! :)
Style 9 is like almost any Sega game soundtrack of the ninetees
That's some dank riffs you got there, buddy.
Impressive composing and very well executed! Sweet sounding Swedish Death Metal - excellent riffing!
I just picked mine up yesterday at the Guitar Center in my town, and I ABSOLUTELY FUCKIN’ LOVE IT!!! My guitar sounds like all of my favorite Metal bands
That Swedish death metal riff is 🔥🔥🔥
Great hand positioning / cord fingering shots . Gave me some new riff ideas ❗ THANKS 😎
Excellent and informative: Mine is on the way and I'm looking forward to seeing how it sounds plugged straight into the clean channel (I don't have an fx loop in my little ol' vox tube amp! ;)
Great drum backing track. Sounds phenomenal. Ty for this! I always loved this pedal and now I'll get the waza.
The Swedish death metal riff brought me back in time when i used to listen to a band named blinded colony, sounds very similar
You came up with really good riffs for each genre.
More stoner/doom pls
Yes. I was really liking that one out of the bunch. A close second was number 10 as it really reminded me of CKY.
Yes!
+1 to this, I really liked it
Please There is other bands that sound like this ?
Rémi LAMBERT have you tried kyuss, corrosion of conformity, early Queens of the Stone age? Are you completely new to the gerne of do you search for some „underground“ Bands?
I have always loved the metal zone had one years ago with a marshal 4x12 half cab sounded awesome!!! But I was also 17 and anything loud sounded awesome then haha
I love how all it takes is Ola making one positive video and Boss paying for some advertisement to change everyones mind about the Metal Zone being the worst pedal on the planet.
Little known fact, the original Metal Zone may be regarded as one of the worst distortion pedals ever but it’s actually Boss’s 2nd most successful pedal ever, selling almost 1 million units. The new one is still much better though. Thanks for watching! :)
So damn true. Ola legit changed the market for this pedal😂😂
yeah he crushed Collins hard work with one Video lol..besides..That Pedal Show did a vid about the MZ 2 yrs ago..and they made it sound KILLER
I have one and it works great and the price was good too.
Sheep will be sheep... When its cool to hate it they hate it.. When their youtube flat sound guitar god says its good everyone follow.
This pedal was and is shit.
I have an old HM-2 that I bought decades ago when I had a small Marshall. My favorite sound was running the HM-2 into the amp input with pretty much no bass or hi boost or cut, the level turned up all the way, and the list all the way down. That gave me a good hard rock tone with a lot of harmonics. I haven't tried it with my B-52 AT-100 half-stack yet.
They fixed it. They actually fixed it.
That nu metal section actually sounded pretty fucking cool.
Fuck, thank you so much for this demo. I was hoping to find a black metal demo for this pedal after seeing a regular metal zone on Wolves in the throne room’s board. You delivered and then some!
Also the Swedish death metal was on point too! Thank you thank you!
great video Pete
The djent riff was dope!
Buuuuuuuut as good as always your playing Pete! Don't get me wrong!
Beautiful riffs, man 🤘
OMG that Djent riff was sick... like all the riffs were sick, but that Djent riff was extra sick
Great sound
Finally got the chance to play the Chapman ML1 pro modern 6 string in Vegas. Was truly impressed not only by the build quality but by the pickups. Granted I played it through a Friedman BE50, but the chord definition at high gain was impressive.
2:16
Now that’s the kind of sick time changes that I miss
I am convinced you can make anything sound great.
That guitar is awesome. That grindcore riff reminds me of early 90s Napalm Death.
That actually sounds pretty good! Subbed.
Thanks for watching and the Sub! :)
That djent riff is catchy as hell!
Thanks! :)
Very great video as always! Take care! 🤘
Metal Zone plus 7 band eq equals best distortion ever.
simply great video man, nice job!
Thanks! :)
Great video as always. Good job mate 👍
You deserve a like just for the Brutal Death Metal part.
Holy damn.
Can we just talk about that down pick though! Jesus Hetfield haha
This was awesome dude, you've smashed it again my man! :)
Starting from 0:31 growling:
My tea's gone cold, I wondering why I got out of bed at all
The morning rain clouds up my window, and I can't see at all
And even if I could it'd all be grey, but your picture on my wall
It reminds me that it's not so bad, it's not so baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad
I just noticed that the "baaaaaad" would come right at the transition to black metal, so as a shriek it would actually be awesome.
Hello Pete. The Riff of Style 7 is soo damn good. Well done 👍👍👍
I've got a super old one laying around that I've been meaning to mess around with again
the Swedish Death Metal was great! It sounded just like At The Gates!
Thanks! :)
I love old school MT-2 and i would try this new pedal it looks and sounds good !
Sounds cool as always
Your riff of nu Metal is freaking awesome
That black metal riff was lit.
Brutal death metal sounds like Amon Amarth....fukin killing it
Swedish death metal made me imagine Johan Hegg singing along with this song of yours) Great, as always)
Awesome. You need to post the settings for classic rock and hair metal. Keep rockin.
There's no other way to play Swedish Death Metal without Boss Heavy Metal
Head Bangin the whole video, upgraded Boss pedal does sound good
I had one of the old Metal Zones years ago, boy did that sound bad. The new version sounds a lot better for certain! That Chapman 7 string sounds pretty good too!
Need more of that Swedish Death Metal from you, man! Great stuff!
Thanks! :)
Honestly, the more I listen to it, the better it sounds.
I'm getting really strong Dio vibes from the hair metal one.
My favorite pedal of all time. So good. Could make your guitar sound like any band’s sound.
Was the distortion channel selected on the amp?
No, this was a mix of clean channel and going into the FX loop depending on the style. Thanks for watching! :)
Last riff is amazing.
Killer doing hair metal 🤘🏼
hell of the job
i just bought it few days ago it was an awesome pedal! i don't the reputation of the old MZ, the new one is really awesome!
Djent was incorrect, not enough 000000000000000000000000s
He played more of a Periphery/Tesseract style Djent and not After The Burial/Veil Of Maya style Djent
Not enough practice
