The main riff from The Trooper in the style of: Haken Demolition Hammer Leprous Dire Straits Manowar Metallica Kreator Cannibal Corpse (or Krisiun) Men at Work Ghost Blink 182 Sarcófago Dimmu Borgir Symphony X Rhapsody Manilla Road Rush Black Label Society Dark Angel Nightwish
Yeah, he treated all the bands truthfully on this and other “1 song 20 riffs” vids, but the ATG, Necrophagist, and Whitechapel really stand out in my mind. Here’s a mind-bender: imagine the main riffs of “Slaughter of the Soul” being redone by Tony Iommi, as imagined by Pete. Smoke coming out your ears too?
I remember before he uploaded this video, he uploaded the ATG riff on Twitter without any context. No mention of this video or ATG at all in the caption. I commented on it saying “sounds a lot like At the Gates!”. In that moment Pete must’ve known he’d worked some magic there. After all this time it’s still my favourite rendition he has done!
Mikolaj Mroz he definitely played a huge role in necrophagist but christian is better at writing killer solos than riffs... When it comes to killer riffs Muhammed is the guy! :) P.s: talking about chris, make sure to check out his solo album (beyond the wall of sleep) if you haven't yet. It's a great album!
Leon Lenz I always thought that the riff of "I, Dementia" is pretty similar to "Crazy Train", but Pete did this version a lot like "The Saw Is The Law"
The big 4 are basically a family Slayer: The big brother everyone seeks advice from and looks up to Metallica: The middle child who everyone used to like but now that there's others... Eh Megadeth: The troubled child who thinks his life is bad despite the fact it's not as bad as he says Anthrax: The cousin who just hides in his room whenever people are over
They are most known for 'Our House' but they have other songs (like Baggy Trousers, Nightboat To Cairo, etc etc) to which give very strong 'We Are Number One' vibes! Check them out; Madness are genuinely a fun band to listen to
Led Zeppelin-Immigrant Song Avenged Sevenfold-Hail To The King Green Day-American Idiot Red Hot Chili Peppers-Under The Bridge Bon Jovi-You Give Your Love a Bad Name
M4RCi92, although I personally love their second album “Messengers” I can understand why someone may call it generic. But since then, the band has massively improved their versatility. Just listen to the instrumental parts on the two newest albums, “Found In Far Away Places” and “Phantom Anthem”. I doubt you will find similar parts in other metalcore songs.
Okay, please tell me what songs to listen to. I happen to like quite many hardcore / metalcore bands, but never once have liked a single song of theirs I've heard. I thought that you can't get much more generic than abr.
That’s the closest we might get to a new necrophagist album
Was beautiful
Look at him
F
beautiful isnt he?
Yes he is
Literally accurate when I heard that.
That periphery... Damn I liked that.
Would love to see something in the style of beyond creation
Vektor!
Devil presley?
maybe gorillaz? :D
Me like.
Cheers dude! You’re obviously the inspiration behind these so I’m very pleased you like it :)
Ten Second Songs do ffdp, machine head, and trivium please
Yo Anthony you should do a 20 styles cover of disturbeds version of the land of confusion.
I was so excited to see your idea used by another artist!
Man something was wrong with the primus version, cuz I could cleared hear the guitar. :-[
Led Zeppelin version is called Crazy Immigrant
FajarDian Rakha aka my dad
That would be Donald Trump's kind of thing.
Immigrant Train sounds good aswell
@@tobiashandler9000 it sounds like Auschwitz
@@juanhernandez3067 lol
Ha ha genius mate :-)
Cheers dude! Hoping to catch one of your solo gigs sometime :)
My man rob recently bought a chapman guitar
Ha ha penis mate
Wow I've found 10 second songs, Rudy Ayoub, and you. Geez
the dream theatre one was sick when he dropped it a 4th down
The main riff from The Trooper in the style of:
Haken
Demolition Hammer
Leprous
Dire Straits
Manowar
Metallica
Kreator
Cannibal Corpse (or Krisiun)
Men at Work
Ghost
Blink 182
Sarcófago
Dimmu Borgir
Symphony X
Rhapsody
Manilla Road
Rush
Black Label Society
Dark Angel
Nightwish
Destruction
I have a feeling trooper Metallica-style would sound quite a bit like the intro for ride the lightning
Thanks for watching everybody! Which was your favorite and which bands should I do next? :)
Pete Cottrell Ulcerate
Pete Cottrell TREMONTI
or alter bridge, but mainly TREMONTI
Parkway Drive possibly?
Please include Kreator next time :D
In Flames next!
Damn near a year later and that At the Gates style riff is still one of the best I've heard
Over a year later and still is
Best of the bunch

Born of osiris!!!!
Caraio foxy gosta de metal??????
ALA O FOXYYYY
The avenged Sevenfold part reminds me of Hail to the king.
Aviation 11 most of sevenfold is inspired by ozzy anyways
@@elliottblakemore2324 Iron maiden, gnr and metallica for sure. Ozzy, not so much..
That's exactly what I was thinking lmao, Zacky on the right, Syn on the left

What I was thinking and I loved it!
How about some Tenacious D???
Missed opportunity: For Whitechapel, he should have just played "I Dementia"
S550 yep
The Necrophagist version made me realise just how much I miss them
Me too :(
Man those riffs were literally crazy! No one can write crazy riffs like muhammed (seven, ignominious & pale....)
I really miss the guy...
Lets not forget Christian Muenzner's contributions to Epitaph, they're both legendary musicians :)
Mikolaj Mroz he definitely played a huge role in necrophagist but christian is better at writing killer solos than riffs...
When it comes to killer riffs
Muhammed is the guy! :)
P.s: talking about chris, make sure to check out his solo album (beyond the wall of sleep) if you haven't yet.
It's a great album!
Yup, I know what I'm listening to for the rest of the night.
Loved the Sylosis one. Such an underrated band. They have not released a bad album. Great video 🤘🏻
Love Sylosis. Thanks for watching! :)
you nailed the trivium part
God a rerecording of ember would be amazing
@@jessepusatero5511 has the album sin and the sentence written all over it
And sylosis
Gi'mre some of that *Amon Amarth* pete
TesseracT and my life is complete
Another cool video idea would be 20 different riffs in the style of one band.
For this series, Volbeat next, for sure.
MrKyel17 nah the one and only band needed for this would be necrophagist
Maybe Amon Amarth?
BucketOfWater hell yeah
Uh you got any Tool?
In the style of B.B. King!
Whitechapel - I, Dementia is basically Crazy Train in The Style of Whitechapel.
Leon Lenz I always thought that the riff of "I, Dementia" is pretty similar to "Crazy Train", but Pete did this version a lot like "The Saw Is The Law"
GOJIRA for your next music please :D
Check out episode 1 in the series. Thanks for watching! :)
anthrax; the forgotten of the big 4
Tis sad
The big 4 are basically a family
Slayer: The big brother everyone seeks advice from and looks up to
Metallica: The middle child who everyone used to like but now that there's others... Eh
Megadeth: The troubled child who thinks his life is bad despite the fact it's not as bad as he says
Anthrax: The cousin who just hides in his room whenever people are over
@@nightmares8213 well,I've seen a lot of guys saying that slayer should take some lessons from metallica(that was on a slayer video)
@@nightmares8213 and I think anthrax don't have that weight everyone waits from a thrash band, there is no 00000000 enough

lol, your video made me start listening to Whitechapel :P
and yeah, love your A7x's Hail to the King interpretation! Incredible, Pete!
KRGuitars should’ve been listening to whitechapel long before this! haha
And oddly enough, whitechapels song "I, dementia" main riff has a total crazy train feel to it.
Please, Alice In Chains!!!
The ATG section made me very happy.
That Whitechapel beanie's on point
Btw, can u do A Perfect Circle?

Masterful, the Whitechapel one grooves hard, also love your energy in this 🤘❤.

I want a full length Anthrax cover of the song! It sounds insane!

I don't know most of these bands, but the Madness bit is giving me some serious "We Are Number One" vibes.

The At the Gates was out of this world!! Amazing!
The dream theatre riff was f n sick!
I almost cried at how Dream Theater's style was SPOT ON!
I like the dream theatre was the longest
I feel like August burns red needs some love
They don't really have a signature sound, though. Generic metalcore stuff...
M4RCi92, calling ABR generic is just rediculous. They are one of the most unique bands in the metalcore genre.
nZ_bw how?
