Nice to see a Z car not going smoky-sideways! I've always had an affinity for these cars, and now that they're relatively plentiful and inexpensive, you can make a hell of a nice GT/ performance car. Well done!

Only about half way into the vid, but listing your top 5 lap times would help solidify driver consistency and thus secure one tire as a winner over the other

Been waiting for this one!!! I've run Continental ECS on every car for years. Just took first in class at Autocross last week on them vs a field of 200TW Z's too! I'll definitely be swapping up to the Force now after seeing how fast they are!

I used a 350z 2003 for a dual purpose vehicle couple years ago; it's a great car for this. Kept mine 100 percent stock drive train. Had Z1 suspension arms, oem Brembo brakes with Hawk pads, BC racing coil overs, Hotchkins sway bars, Konig Hypergrams with Federal rr 265's all around. I was able to turn lap times with or better than pricey German name plates costing 10 tens what I had in the Z. I drove it two and from events in total comfort of the full oem interior.
Great shots of the suspension travel, DP! Looks like it could use a bit more compression dampening, but not bad. 👍

Never really thought about the sidewall spring rate increase, that completely checks out with how my car has always felt on stickies.
typical DP passes the end of the front straightaway pit wall with his foot still planted to the firewall and looks over to the camera to provide explanation 😂, nobody rips tech like you DP.
Man, I'm so glad you guys brought the Z back for a couple episodes before you send it off. It really is a great chassis for grip. People love to talk about the cons, but overall it really is a great drivers car, I love using mine on the track. Great work as always boys, let PowerJDM know I'm in Dallas as well and will be right over to pick up my new Z ;)

Honestly, the ECSs are a tire i recommend to anybody who goes to the track for the first time. Super predictable and the last a looong time. Also, absolutely phenomenal in the wet (A lot of us run them as rain tires still).
Been curious about the ECFs for our Champcar Miata. Right now we've been running the RS4s because it was kind of the go-to for Enduros for a long time, however the ECF is tickling my fancy quite a bit. Wet performance definitely will be a factor!
Great video guys, it's too bad there won't be a part 3 where the car either goes FI or gets the full NA bolt-on install & tune. I had a FBO DE coupe for 7 years, though not a revup which this seems to be going by the 7K shifts. That 5600 ish RPM to 7K band feels great and the car never fails to deliver... if this is indeed a revup I hope "precautions" or reliability mods are on the agenda before the giveaway. The new-to-me 2007 GT roadster (HR) I got in August is also AX6 Redline, and in September the car got gloss black Enkei Kojins wrapped in Conti ECS (18X8.5 +25 w/ 245/40R18; 18X9.5 +15 w/ 265/40R18). Same colour theme, same street tires. This video was FOOD for me.

Fuel level float is hung up in the (plastic?) sump - the float has it's own little sump, outside of the fuel pump which it's own dedicated sump also.

I ran 275 square on my HR for a long time. If you go down to 255/17/40 the value proposition looks alot better but probably doesn't look as good and you lose a little grip. The drivetrain was dead reliable. It was a fun track day car.

man this is making me question what fun car I want to get, I was thinking of going for a c5 vette since they seem to be one of the best performance values, and while I do like them, I know deep down I want something japanese
This really is a sleeper car for track use. With a set of good brakes and suspension mods, the Z has enough power stock to still be quick and not feel underpowered like the BRZ/FRS do.
the fuel gauge on my 240sx stopped working after the car sat for a while, i assume its just a little rust on the fuel level bobber. A trick i learned is just slam all the doors shut a few times and itll break the level sensor loose and itll start working again
It’s a really common issue with the fuel gauge, it’s just the secondary fuel level fails

I had a problem with my fuel gauge on my 02 S15, it worked perfectly with BP 98 octane but hated Shell 98…

Do front canards that are mounted like that add any downforce to the front, or is it just more of a style piece. Kinda interested since a lot of the cars that i see with canards have this style, but a lot of other more "serious" cars have some crazy stuff going on in the front

Had to laugh at the pricing comment. The cheapest 350z I could find within 300miles was $14k and it had over 100k miles on it. Everything is absolutely ridiculous right now!
In Ontario, where these guys are, nice DE's are going for 13-16K CAD and nice HR's are going for 18-21K. Prices are up 25-30% from where they were 4-5 years ago.

The AEM one is a real-time accurate display where the factory one is slow to respond and an approximation.

Seems like you aren’t taking advantage of a 10.5 inch wheel with a 275 tire. Why not save weight and money and run a 10” or even less?
You’re splitting hairs at this point, 10 vs 10.5 will be negligible in weight and money. Truth be told, Konig doesnt offer a 10 otherwise we’d likely on up on that.

I've owned a Z33 back in the day. I loved it back then and love it still. The nismo body kit is my favorite kit. Seeing the nismo 380rs in best motoring I fell in love with it. Who gets this in murica will love this! Also LETS GO BRANDON!

Thats quite an overstatement, this car is plenty quick for its day.
@@speedacademy I have to disagree. The 03-04 cobra mustang and LS1 Camaro was out back then. Swapped 240s and Honda's also were too much for them.
@@youcanevaporate5961 That limited production Cobra with independent suspension is hauling 400 more lbs than the Z33 (also GL finding one..?). That gen F-body needed mods to keep up with curvy tracks. Z cars were always built for balance, not straight line racing. I mean, you crap on the old stock VQ35DE but then bring up swapped 240's? Odd logic. Not sure what Hondas you were thinking about either, S2000's are in another price range and everything else from Honda in that era loses to the Z off the line -- no traction, no torque. Out of the box in time attack, none of the cars you specifically mentioned have the clear upper hand on the Z33.
@@jacquesc3166 All the cars I mentioned can be set up to compete with the 350z in time attack.. Any of the popular swaps for a 240 will out run a 350z ... They where just faster than average cars that's about it. They look cool though. One of the best looking cars from that time period.
