    Thank you for all the great videos. I've learned a ton from your videos and I often do what I've learned from you at work on my jobs. I've got a Quick Shot, I spray my ceilings last, and your detailed information on spray tips has been priceless. Thank you for all the generosity and work you put into these videos. Hmm, I do these whole house repaint all the time. If you’re doing ceilings, walls and trim, if you tried spraying the ceilings first, without covering the walls, then you spray the trim without having to mask the walls and finally you cover the trim and just cut in the top of the wall and roll to the bottom over the trim masking when you’re done. There is no need to mask the walls and spray the ceiling as you were doing.
    Text Painting from the top then the trim and then the walls are last. Much faster than the way you were doing it.

    Never thought to do the ceiling last and use the wall plastic to cover furniture. Usually cover everything, do ceiling and trim, then walls. But might have to try this order next time. Thanks for the vid.

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  Год назад

      Thank you for watching and sharing your experience - yeah, spraying a ceiling in last can help eliminate the laborious cutting in process, you get the sharpest of lines and it’s so quick and easy spraying the ceiling in last to a finish - and like you seen, covering any furniture is automatic with a 2.6 metre drop of plastic film 👍 ..works very effectively also spraying in a bathroom ceiling, or even a kitchen ceiling (when cutting in above cupboard space is awkward).. if you ever mask tight areas like above cupboards / above shower cubicles for example - tack the plastic down with rolled up tape or double-sided tape, otherwise the plastic can lift and hit the ceiling as the airless pressure passes over 👍
      Keep in touch buddy, regards Pete 💙

    Always faster to just paint furnished homes. Spraying requires covering up and any touch ups require the whole spray process again (cover up and mask then clean gun) vs just a mini roller or brush. Unless client wants mirror finish in woodwork. Then have fun.

    Great job pete that turned out so well there was a bit of work in that all the same,textured wallpaper cant be sprayed because its too porous is it?and im wondering where you tempted to use a graco pressure roller connected to the 390 but would that be overkill?the ultashot looks like a great machine and it must be an absolute godsend that it eliminates spitting

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  Год назад +1

      Hey Eddie, yeah you’re right - I have sprayed wallpaper (carefully) in the past. By carefully I mean not drenching with paint, then it would be wise to back roll - when you think that textured paper wouldn’t benefit from a smooth sprayed finish, with the risks, it just makes sense to brush / roll - a pressure roller is a very good idea 👍 you’re like me, thinking of ways to utilise technology to make the process easier 👏👏👏 - all the best my friend, regards Pete 💙

    Hi Pete, another great video, really informative and so professional. I’ve recently used the QuickShot in a stairwell great piece of machinery, although I did find overspray a bit of a problem. Would you know of a reason for that?

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  Год назад

      Thank you Tony 🙏 Happy to help if I can my friend - what was you spraying in the stairwell? Woodwork (spindles / joinery)?.. Then what tip was you using?.. the Ultra QuickShot being an airless unit, managing overspray is all about tip selection / pressure (just enough to atomise the paint - LP / FF LP are great at achieving lower pressures), also effective, strategic masking and spraying technique 👍 keep in touch, regards Pete

    • @tonysmith71
      @tonysmith71 Год назад +1

      Hi Pete,
      Thank you for your reply, I was spraying spindles, handrails and the stringing. Using Graco FF208 @ No 4 with Zinsser allcoat filtered but straight from the can .
      It felt very sticky underfoot although i did cover everything before spraying thankfully 😊
      Many thanks
      Tony

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  Год назад

      Hi Tony, your tip selection and logic sounds spot on 👏👏 ..when spraying spindles you’re more prone to overspray hitting walls or landing on nearby skirting.. a strategic order of spraying (for example you may need to mask off areas already sprayed), masking and definitely floor protection is a must (I use a plastic backed fleece that can be cut or folded and rolled out) - I tack down in the corners like stair rods and roll up at the end of each day, then roll back out the next day - so yeah an FF LP 208 sounds a good choice - it’s just the 4” fan will cause overspray - an FF LP 108 will most likely have too much flow, you’ll get runs.. now if the viscosity is low enough, you may be able to use an FF LP 106 - I have to point out that the UQS is recommended a .008 minimum, mainly due to the 100 mesh filter being the only option (you may get tip blockages).. and the UQS might struggle to ‘force’ the material through such a small orifice (a symptom can be the prime valve opening) - you could try it, but go back to the 208 if things get problematic -
      Here’s the FF LP 106 in action in the UQS

    • @tonysmith71
      @tonysmith71 Год назад +1

      With the 106 tip would you thin down the paint by 10%

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  Год назад

      Hi Tony.. normally I’m not an advocate of thinning trim / woodwork paints, but a max 10% might be feasible - I’ll check the datasheet and see if I can do some testing 👍 - in the meantime, if you was to try a FF LP 106, just try it cautiously - it probably require a bit more pressure, so if you was at speed 4 with a 208 (which is very promising), I’d guess you might be at speed 6 - if it does work without problems, the control you gain from less flow and the 2” fan, it’s a very rewarding spraying experience 💙 regards Pete

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  Год назад +1

      Hi Rob, I always appreciate and look forward to your input 🙏 Good question - I only use FrogTape to mask if I’m using a brush and roller (which isn’t very often 😀).. I chose to brush and roll, because of the textured wallpaper, then I use FrogTape because of it’s PaintBlock, call it added security to guard against any paint bleed - otherwise you’re right, when spraying I go for a quality gold washi, for it’s thin, strong properties - washi tapes do work with a brush application, but it’s critical to push down the edge, ensuring a 100% bond - I’ll have to do a video where I go through all the individual masking products and in what situation I would use them 👍
      Yeah the Ultra QuickShot has become a valuable addition - I’ve completed many small jobs now ⚡️💙 - all the best, it’s always a pleasure my friend 🙏 regards Pete

      Did you get any spits while using the extension bar on the quick shot? It’s an electric trigger isn’t it so be interesting to to know please? Great video as always 👍🏻

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  Год назад +1

      Thank you for watching and your kind words of support 🙏Without an extension the UQS virtually eliminates spits, thanks to its electronic trigger and much quicker needle / cleanshot open and close - then adding any extension, like all airless guns, there is a chance of spitting due to paint in the extension that’s at a lower pressure when triggering off Vs the paint that’s held back by the gun / needle - so a spit is paint that’s not fully atomised - spits in emulsion are not so problematic, in that you may not see them (on a textured ceiling for example), or you can trigger on and off on masking, not the project - spits in trim / woodwork are not forgiving, therefore I’d avoid using an extension - so with the UQS improved trigger response the performance is improved but can still be evident when using an extension - if needing to use an extension and you can’t manage spits, a cleanshot valve at the tip guard is the only way - this gives protection past the extension, but sadly would add a little weight to the gun - hope this helps - regards Pete 💙

    Can I ask, is their a facility now or in the future for the quickshot to be plugged in? Based on how often I would use it (DIY) I'm worried about long term battery storage and dissipation over time, I knew some manufacturers have a battery with a cord offering both options.

      Ah hello my friend, hope you’re keeping well.. that’s a very good question.. firstly, I can reassure that the 2 DeWALT batteries supplied is sufficient to keep the unit in power.. the charge time is very quick, so fully charges way before the one in use runs out 👍 Plus I very rarely use a full battery to complete a small job, often I have 1 or 2 bars left, which includes the cleanup .. you’re right about some manufacturers / tools where there is some form of ‘mains adaptor’.. I’m not aware of a DeWALT 18v / 20v adapter, certainly not official DeWALT nor ‘Graco approved’.. it’s a nice thought, but perhaps wouldn’t warrant the additional development cost for a ‘cordless unit’.. like I say, the 2 batteries work extremely well 💙⚡️ ..great question, hope I’ve helped my friend.. regards Pete

      That’s a good question my friend - wall paints / latex I do thin around 5% - 10% (max 10%), it helps ease the flow, reduce the pressure required 👍 I even use warm water to thin, all helps to lower the viscosity and very helpful when using the Ultra QuickShot / Graco Handheld units 👍 ..you could try a LP 515 or a maximum LP 616 - let me know how you get on, happy to help and advise if I can.. keep in touch.. regards Pete 💙💯

I'm experimenting with precautionary treatment of that area with Zinsser's Peel Stop (even if it is not specifically designed with that use in mind). My thinking is that it is wet enough to soak through the old and crappy paint and into the substrate. Not sure if it is doing what I think it will but so far I've not had many peels doing it this way. Yes, I am using Kip's purple tape but finding it prone to releasing grip when wet. Done a couple of KIP's wallpaper masking take as a base with KIP's plastic outdoor tape over it to keep the water out. This seems to keep the purple tape in place. Having said that, I'm wondering if Kleenedge would work out cheaper for these situations. It it fairly gentle but because it is thicker, it doesn't allow water to damage the adhesive too much. It does loose some grip but still not enough to fully drop off (like KIP's Wallpaper tape does).
