Haven't made these in years. My mom used to make these especially if we were having company. We always had them on the holidays with lots of other Scottish snacks and appetizers. Gosh glad I found your channel! Brings back lots of childhood memories of good old British treats.
@samhainaz Happy holidays to you too. They are nice with the added flavours, hopeffuly they taste good for you. Thanks for dropping in OriginalNakedChef
@weeknightingale That’s great to hear that I have brought back some childhood memories :) Don’t forget when you get time, make some sausage rolls, you will love them Thanks for finding my channel and I appreciate you dropping in. OriginalNakedChef :)
@Deathatheist I have never tried the toothpick idea. Is it because you don’t want to, or cant use eggs? You could just try tightly pinching the edges of the pastry together without the egg. The egg is the ideal choice as it also gives the pastry a nice colour when brushed on the outside.
@RagingNidoking Who says your not a chef? You have made something tasty and it sounds good! I crown you "Chef RagingNidoking" Thanks for sharing that with us, I may try it next time I make them. OriginalNakedChef
yah when ccan i come over for dinner? im starving looking at theese videos. im sending them to my mom and friends moms... and my aunt! :D lol but seriously these recipies look really gooooooooooooooood
oh man, yummy. Im gonna pin this video to pinterest. My hubby birthday is the 10th of December and I think these will be lovely for a special breakfast, Ill put cheese on some too. Thank you so much for the video ;)
@fran2382 Hi there, Good for you making home made puff pastry! The sauces are a nice touch and thank you for taking the time to leave a comment and of course for watching my vids :-) OriginalNakedChef
Dear Original naked chef Thankyou so much for sharing this recipe it's a great recipe I love making these sausage rolls they are so tasty& yummy And I looked at your jam tarts they look good so I am going to give them a try
@otoncin Hi again otoncin, As mentioned before I am not an expert on freezing food as most of the food I make is eaten fresh. However as far as I understand you can freeze sausage rolls. From what I have read, it appears that freezing them before cooking or adding the egg glaze is the best way otherwise they will loose their crunchiness. OriginalNakedChef
@kumquatsta Hi , I was going to do meat pies at some stage. I was waiting for slightly later in the year when cools down. Good comfort food! I have made a video of lasagne, your last suggestion!. Its not the typical traditional lasagne though! I had intended to also make a traditional version and release them at a similar time as sometimes when you do a non traditional version of a recipe you get bad comments. I used Simple Pork sausages for the sausage rolls. OriginalNakedChef :-))
I finally managed to make these (pesto , cranberry, plain) and the kids loved them. The only thing was that the pesto ones turned out very dry so I don't think I'll do those again. The cranberry ones were ridiculously good. Cheers mate. S.
@pires091 I like that idea! I quite like black sausage. I had a quick look and could not easily find “black or white UIrish Clonakilty pudding” I may have to source from a speciality shop. I can find some other black sausage. I will do a bit of searching and next time I make the rolls, I will give it a try. OriginalNakedChef
@echervey You can come round for dinner soon! It's nice to know you like the recipes. Hopefully hear from you again. Let me know if you decide to try some of the recipes :) OriginalNakedChef
@SeanFHoward I loved the cranberry ones also the mustard ones are great! Thanks for trying them out. I bet they have all been eaten? Nice to hear from you. OriginalNakedChef :)
The Grillers are so good this way with some pesto or plain with a dip of velveeta and rotelli. For myself I like a bit of cream cheese in with the grillers and a bit of Heinz 57 to dip, Go very light with this sauce as it can over power the sausage rolls,
@MakeUpByJenniferW the sausages I used were pork sausages purchased from Marks & Spencer. You can use any sausage you like though. If you have a favourite one, use that. My recommendation is to use good quality sausages, preferably thick ones. Lincolnshire sausages are also nice as they have some herbs mixed in. If you have a local butchers you could buy a small selection of different flavoured sausages to see how they compare. OriginalNakedChef
@Deathatheist No apologies needed. Its'probably my accent. I should have said "Whisked the egg" I try and use ingridients that people can get easily. Thanks for clearing that one up. If you decide to make the sausage rolls, hopefully all goes well. OriginalNakedChef
@TLDAM123 Lovely comment! I mostly learnt as I went along. I have been cooking for many years and every day. I love cooking and making food taste great. I have had some help over the years from some really good cooks :) Thanks for watching my vids and I have just released a new gammon video. I wish you a very happy Christmas to you and your family :) OriginalNakedChef
@himashi99 These are very easy and much nicer than the shop bought ones. Also by making your own it means you can add your own flavours and your favourite sausages. OriginalNakedChef
@MoonlightEXE Hi there, thanks for those kind words. Cooking is very simple really, you would be amazed at how quicky you learn and become more confident. Thanks for subbing and the comment. Always appreciated. OriginalNakedChef :-)
@sampathit I would normally make them fresh (same day). You may be able to assemble them the day before and then put them in the oven the next day if that helps to reduce the workload on the day of the party :) Good luck with the party! OriginalNakedChef
@DUMBIEDYKE I find that suprizing that you cant buy them in the states. Good for you making your own :) As you say sausage rolls are great for entertaining. OriginalNakedChef
@OriginalNakedChef Also, about your puff is it made from scratch? or store bought. It seems Americans hardly know the meaning of puff around my state. Im searching your videos now for a meat pie recipe.
That's a real shame that you can't buy nice sausages. I think in the UK we are spoilt for choice. Maybe there is a good opportunity for selling nice sausages over there! Sorry for the slow reply, I have been really busy recently and have missed a number of viewers comments :)
@OriginalNakedChef Yes, I finally found some puff at a store in my area, they want around 5 aussie dollars for a small package of what i think was 3 lengths of puff. Am I better off just making it myself? Also, I didnt notice a pie recipe on your uploads make one soon mate cheers
@DUMBIEDYKE I hope the sausage rolls goes down well and you have a great Christmas party. It would be lovely to hear how it all goes for you. OriginalNakedChef
Hi Naked Chef! I'm having a birthday party for my son next week , I want to make these sausages rolled with puff pastry. Can I use regular hotdogs instead of sausages? Coz I don't think I will find a good sausages here like what you have in England , thank you for sharing.
