But at the same time he’s still a jokester who teases his family in a good hearted way
Also being really gentle with Mirabel during his verse in "We Don't Talk About Bruno" while the rest of the family was throwing and yanking her around like a ragdoll while she was trying to get away. I swear, a lot of Encanto fans only see him as the funny guy (which he is), but he's also an amazingly kind, gentle, and loving person

I think it's adorable and hilarious how Camilo imitates his dad but makes himself significantly shorter. Almost like he's teasing his dad even in that aspect (since Pepa is so much taller than Felix)

Not that I deny she’s done mistakes, but ppl forget that she needed saving as well as everyone else! that’s why mirable herself told her that her deeds were only out of her own fear of not being able to protect her ppl and ending up in a dangerous situation like b4 where she lost her loved one, and the community depended on her and her family completely which made it even worse. It’s just as u said, ppl focus so much on some scenes and forget the rest and thus not give the characters their respectable credit 😢

I love the scene where he is comforting his mother who is having a panic attack. That was really sweet, I almost feel bad that it devolved into a comedy scene (even though it was funny) because of how gentle he was with her.

My guy Camilo is the perfect example of a 15 year old in this movie. His gift of shape-shifting resembles how kids our age want to be like everyone else instead of being yourself. That's just spot on Disney...

Honestly Camilo is super underrated. Right after everyone is reeling from the house falling apart he goes from ‘my powers are gone’ to ‘what about Antonio, what’s he going to do?’ In less then a sentence, dudes a good older brother on top of everything. It sucks he’s mostly just a minor character, especially cause his voice rules. A solo from him would have rocked. He’s got that classic class clown exterior with a soft heart inside kinda feel

The crazy thing is that Lin-Manuel probably did write a bit more for him but cut it due to time restraints. If we get a sequel, Camilo will get his moment.

I would love a sequel for encanto where the rest of the crew get “growth musicals”. And Camilo’s should be him not being satisfied with who he is and is constantly trying to be people who he isn’t. And he needs to except that he is who he is and no amount of shapeshifting will change that.
The creators of Encanto are said that although not shown in the film Camilo suffers from pressure and has insecurities, although he hides it under his cheerful attitude. Although he appreciates her gift, it makes him question his sense of self, and constantly morphing for others tires him.
I feel really bad for Dolores when everyone is cheering for Antonio. Everything must be so loud for her.
Camilo can be heard in the background in one of the scenes after the casita fell, "I don't know my gift is gone what- what's Antonio going to do?" HE IS LITERALLY BROTHER OF THE YEAR

I think it's funny how Camilo is able to affect his shapeshifting. Like when he turned into Félix in the vamo vamo vamo scene, he had a much smaller body than the real Félix, which means that Camilo is probably able to advance his shapeshifting even more in the future (similarly to how Isabela had her awakening with being able to make more than just flowers).
What more shapes could he take? It would be interesting to see. Like many others I would love to see more of this family, hopefully as animated shorts and not a sequel.

A funny detail about his part in the song is how he describes Bruno as 7 ft tall and scary as hell, but when we get to see the dude himself, he looks like a sad homeless dog and is barely taller than Abuela, an elderly woman. Camilo was so little when he last saw Bruno, that he remembered him like that: tall and scary.
I absolutely love how personal parts of "We Don't Talk about Bruno" are, how many insights into people's minds they give.
