I remember him talking about this performance in lessons. He was very proud of having the opportunity. Amazing to finally see and hear what he was talking about those many years ago! Bravo Mr. Ashby!

Jerome was one of a kind.I was fortunate to call him one of my really good friends from days in Mexico.Winning his position at age 23 was not a fluke . While in Mexico he would arrive eveyday at 6:30 AM for every 8;30 rehearsal. After he won the position he loved to come back to Mexico and hang out with his old friends. Never any airs,:Always the same warm wonderful person.Everyone who knew him misses him. Thanks for the download and celebrating an extraordinary player and human being.

Thank you for the extended footage too after the solo. Many Jerome Ashby stories and I too was fortunate to have met him. He was a very kindly person. Quite beautifully done. RIP

Sie sind offenbar den Wiener Klang gewöhnt zu hören. An der Phrasierung hätte ich einiges auszusetzen.

Playing that solo at so slow a tempo--LB's in the heavy profundity of his final years-- is a truly amazing feat. And the balances certainly didn't do him any favors either.

it is a lovely sound, but unfortunately the sound engineer was having a bad day, clarinet sounds like its 4m long.

Los vientos demasiados brillantes y vacíos, los pizz muy desmedidos, para ser, Bern lo veo demasiado extraño.
    Al solo, normalito.
