In some interviews I've heard, Robert Plant reflects on those days and usually mentions how Terry 'was the best of all of us' or words to that effect. Great stuff.
As Oscar Wilde said : “ The only thing worth having is youth.” Terry ( and all the other big names like Jagger, McCartney, Plant, Winwood etc ) are talking about the sweet bird of youth that flew away many years ago. Their stories ( much captured on film ) is of a distant land of all our yesterdays. ‘ Those happy highways that I went, and cannot come again ‘ ( A E Houseman , ‘ A Shropshire Lad ‘ ) .
I met Terry back around 1989 when he was recording an album. I didn't really know who he was at the time. We talked all the time. Even gave him a ride home one night as his ride couldn't make it. We listened to what I had on the radio and just talked about nothing all the way to his house. Wish I'd known who he was so I could have asked a few questions. Led Zeppelin is my favorite band!

I understand it,unfortunately most people don’t want to give one their proper respect if they make light of themselves. It’s frustrating if you are really good and you say so and then it turns off a lot of people that just might have otherwise really dug you if one just didn’t brag at all about themselves. It’s almost like as soon as one brags about themselves people lose respect for you even if you’re really great.
Well,as a Tribute to 1969 and Terry Reid . I, hit the thumbs UPP and hit # 69. So ,hopefully all's well w/ Terry . Thankful for His great talent and records.
Nice and humble :) very good story teller! And so he really did reference them to Jimmy. Zeppelin thanks to Terry! It would be great to see him with Winwood.
Imagine being the best voice and lyricist of your time and being dealt a series of hands which direct you to obscurity. Except for real fans of course. He deserved better.
Think I read that Jimmy said Terry had just signed a solo deal with Mickie Most & that’s why he couldn’t join. Terry was on the same bill as the Yardbirds & that’s where Jimmy heard him sing.
As much as i like to fantasize about the what if...we can't look over the fact that Terry is responsible for Led Zeppelin as we know it. Thank you for capturing this on video.
After Terry turned down Jimmy Page for the New Yardbirds gig, he later turned down the lead singer role in Deep Purple after Evans quit that band. Terry could have been lead singer in either one of two of the great 79's bands.
I seen Terry Reid a couple of times at the old Eastown Theater in Detroit~and was blown away by his performances. It is still remarkable that he never made the Big Time, because he sincerely deserved it. In my book, it will always be a rotten shame.
Terry Reid documentary on you tube ( and yes started touring at age 15 saw the letter to his folks excusing him from school to tour with the stones & cream. His friend Joe Bonomassa interviews him also.Soooo many rich stories heard him tell some on stage Bethesda MD.
Wow. Can you imagine turning down Zepplin? But Terry had 40 gigs with Stones, can see why he put wanted to put it off. Awful cool of him to recommend other members.
I like to know are there any other interviews or films about him I like to know if there any other films about Terry Reed or him speaking about old rock and roll when he first started playing
The offer from Jimmy wasn’t to join “Led Zeppelin”, but to jam and form a band around that. There was no mighty Zep til Jimmy and Bonham clicked: THAT WAS LED ZEPPELIN....Jimmy, Robert and Bonzo with Jonesey.....
Jimmy wanted Steve Marriott then Steve wlinwood then Terry couldn't get them so then Robert with any of these singers would have been great they where all fantastic t
Have you heard 'you need lovin' by Small Faces? It's 'Whole lotta love' but before LZ brought their's out by about 3 years. TBF, it's a Willie Dixon rip off. They were all at it then
Jeez, Terry Reid can talk for 5 minutes or an hour, but he will NEVER be able to hide the fact that he fxxxxd up on a monumental level, what would Zepellin have sounded like with him instead of Plant ? ? ?.
Nah man. It’s not about the fame or money. Terry Reid is a talented dude. Way cooler in my opinion. Love Led Zeppelin but maybe they got into the dark arts a little bit
If i could have a lesson in songwriting from anyone, it would be a fine line between Reid or Lowell George - not even Jimi or Carlos Santana can get near this man.
everyone makes decisions that later we regret ,that's life anyway Terry made great music but he didn't know how to steal riffs like Jimmy and the boys , the first Zeppelin album and all of them afterwards were AMAZING and I don't care that they stole practically everything on those albums because they stole but made it better and I have some Terry Reid albums and no doubt he can sing but they don't hold up songwriting wise to Zeppelin or the Stones or Blind Faith , that said he has earned a place in rock history and seems like a very nice guy (but then again that could also explain why he didn't become bigger,it seems nice guys don't do well in rock music)

I think his band’s performance in the first Glastonbury film 1971 has to be one of the high points in rock for me.
That fucking rocks
The version of Dean from that gig is ripping.
Only just discovered him through that. That performance is phenomenal.

Love Terry Reid…
That's Seymour Duncan, guitar pickup designer legend, holding the microphone...
Two legends flying under the radar
No way!! I've always heard of Duncan pickups....nice trivia!!

l thought it was Chris Squire, which made no sense, until l read the fine print. LOL
So thankful you introduced them to Jimmy, Terry xx
Respect , Terry. Fond memories of Superlungs etc. in my teenage years.
He's humble , no ego . Good to see him still doing his thing , the younger Gen. can see how he has influenced so many .
@@RobertJackson-sl1mk WOW. 😮
Yes but with terry you have the best of both worlds. Humble and a legend.

The title should say “uniting Led Zeppelin” because he did not join them, he put them together… What a fucking rockstar…

When you think about it his story really changed the face of music imagine if he didn’t recommend plant and bonham

When ABC records went belly up right at the time of his next release...
Holy cow what a story! Man did the space time continuum ever line up here! It would be super cool to have Jimmy recount this. Probably has I’m sure.

Going to see Terry perform on the 2nd Oct’23 and meet him I can’t wait 😝
Jimmy: Well, what's he look like? Terry: He looks a good sight better than you! HA! Priceless. The man knows how to take the piss.
He got one of the nicest voice
This guy is so underated.
What a talent this guy was and is but he did the right thing turning Jimmy down then on to Percy & Bonzo!!
Its GOOD TO SEE ONE OF THE G.O.A.T.S. who is evilly UNDERRATED GETTING HIS DUE
TERRYYYYY!!
Yep, I still think Led Zeppelin would be great with Terry Reid. He is up there with the best.
Yes, i agree with you but NOT as good as with Plant, he was the perfect fit.

I say this all the time. Jimmy should thank terry everyday that he didn’t take the job..
Alexander Stewart Exactly because LZ would have been nothing with this guy. He was lucky to find Plant and Bonzo and then they went to the Top.

I can’t believe such a cool dude as Terry is wearing a tie. 😲

I know he's not lying and he did tour with the Stones but that was in '69, after Zeppelin was off and running. The Stones didn't tour in '68.
So if it wasn’t for a Terry Reid, might’ve been different lead singer w/ Led Zeppelin, wow
great raconteur...so underrated
Cheap Trick were trying to get him before Robin Zander joined up with them. They always did a great version of “Speak Now or Forever Hold Your Peace”
The Star Wars bar has come to earth.

Anyone know what model that dark blue guitar with the zebra pickup is hanging there behind them?
Paul Reed Smith S2 Custom 24 whale blue with zebra pickups
This video won 't play :(((

Arthur Oscapy that’s awesome..😂😂😂

I wonder if he regrets turning Jimmy Page down?
Is this the terry reid from bang , bang my baby shot me down? Is that Robert plant holding the mic ?
No! Read the description.

Terry's 'River' album is far, far, far better than anything Led Zep ever did. Miles better live band too. He made the right choice.
