      @@smart_home_australia Jellyfin is my choice and I'll be setting it up as soon as I get the NAS hardware.

      @@MatthewN8OHU good choice. Dependant upon which NAS you get you can run JellyFin or Plex directly in the NAS, just make sure your NAS selection has hardware transcoding and you can run it as your own private Netflix.

      @@smart_home_australia I bought a Synology DS423 (not the much more expensive DS423+ which I might eventually buy) so I will probably install both Jellyfin and NextCloud.

      Interesting you are installing NextCloud, doesn’t Synology come with that feature built in?

    Is it possible to just use the built in web UI of Plex in an (or new web dashboards) on HA ? I'm trying to get my head around why you would need music assistant?

    • @smart_home_australia
      @smart_home_australia  6 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Mark, iFrame was discontinued, so thats a no. As for the new "Webpage" Card, you cant use that either. The official documentation says:
      "Note that not every webpage can be embedded due to security restrictions that some sites have in place. These restrictions are enforced by your browser and prevent embedding them into a Home Assistant dashboard."
      I assume that Plex prevents this.
      As to why MA, its depends on how you use Plex (or JellyFin), as Plex has alot of the functionality of an aggregator so yes you can leverage this from within HA. But you dont get access to all features of Plex through the Plex integration. I'm more of a movie buff that a music consumer, so Plex is the way for me, but MA does give you distinct advantages over Plex around playlist, additional sources and controls, but each to their own.

      @@smart_home_australia It's music that I am really interested in. I would like to make some playlists available from the dashboard.

      @@smart_home_australia I have installed Music Assistant and linked my Plex server. After several hours of indexing (which I didnt expect since I thought the indexing was done via Plex) it said I had no Playlists (although it listed all my albums and artists separately). Seems the Plex integration with MA isn't maintained any more and a few people are having the issue. I dont really want to go down the route of link HA directly with the files as I've spent ages sorting everything in Plex already. :(

    • @smart_home_australia
      @smart_home_australia  6 месяцев назад

      Hi Mark, yes the indexing is done in Plex, but as the index is not passed across, MA needs to reindex.
      As for playlists, the integration bit.ly/3JbQTs2, does not mention is if passes playlists across. I created mine in MA so I cant really say if this is true or not.
      The Plex integration comes from Franck (who is on the HA team) and seem to have been updated on Feb 2024, so looks like it is supported. Its also installed by 5.2% of the user base, so any issues I would say are resolved. If you have any issues or feature requests, then I'd suggest lodging these and I'm sure the guys will get to them.

      Nope. Well not yet. Which is a real shame as I use predominantly echos. But I know it’s a feature request and there is ALOT of development going on for Music Assistant currently so live in home.

      I take it you are not a Plex user? Either way I can do this. I'm not a huge Jellyfin user but have it installed, so shouldn't be too difficult :)
