Howard you are very thorough with explaining. I like this. May I suggest getting a remote mic for your lapel, as sound levels are low. Good sound starts at the source, as you as a technician know. Always grateful for your videos.
It's good to see you back making videos Howard! Maybe we could have a demonstration of hammer reshaping by hand? I'm about to study this procedure and I won't be using a dremel
Thanks for this - but this shows the easy part. Any thoughts about a video showing the regulating of these new dampers, so they meet the strings squarely and firmly?
Hi Richard, I'll put this on my list of future videos and will try and get an opportunity to make a video on damper adjustments. I no longer own an upright piano so I'll have to find an opportunity to do this.
@@marcditeo7046 No, I'm waiting for howardpiano to upload a vid for us :D It's not the distances per se that are the problem, it's the technique of securely damping every harmonic by setting the felts absolutely squarely on the strings. I've done the operation, but there's got to be an easier way, with a better result.
Mr Howard: I have a bichord damper that appears to be aligned properly, and seating itself properly to the string, but isn't fully damping the bighorn. I tried needling it and adjusting it's height to no avail. It appears seated fully between the strings, and it doesn't feel inordinately hard. Do you have any ideas for this situation?
I have an Aldrich Sherman Clay upright that I need to replace all the felt on. Do you know where I can get a kit? Is that even an option? I don't know if there are specific differences in the felt. I know some are different thicknesses but they are also different colors. Thanks for the video, very useful!
You are fantastic, Howard. Thank you so much for all the time you put into sharing your knowledge. You have saved many pianos all over the world.
Wow, thank you for your kind words!

I do use a lapel mic, maybe I just need a better quality mic. Thanks for watching!

@Jackson Parker Thank you, signed up and it seems like a nice service :D I really appreciate it!
@Warren Logan glad I could help :D
Thanks I was just reading about this procedure! You should get some better audio, the volume is always too low. In most of your videos.
thank you! this really helped a lot.
You're welcome! We're glad it was helpful!
Hello,
It was so usefull! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
You mentioned shining up the wire. What would you recommend using to do this?
0000 steel wool and metal polish. Thanks for watching!

@@howardpianoind Thank you so much! You've done a lot of good work on your channel.
Hi! I have the same problem, did you find a solution to setup the dampers distances from the strings?

what about alignment to the strings ?wouldn't that need to be adjusted as well?
Not unless it's a bass damper because those are slanted.

Might need to bend the damper wire a little bit to get more pressure. Not recommended but worth a try.

There isn’t really a kit available. You would just need to purchase the different felts that you needed to replace.
Where can I buy a set of these replacement damper felts?

where do you get the damper felt from
We have this available on our website: www.howardpianoindustries.com
Volume always way too low.
have my laptop on max and i can't make anything out.
Hey I bought a stores and Clark piano the other day and I can't find parts for it for some reason can anybody help
Story & Clark use fairly standard parts. For most pianos, brand specific parts aren’t available.
I replaced my felt pads in place with having to removing them.
That's great, thanks for watching!
Comodo estrarre dei smorzi laterali, prova uno all'interno per poi rimetterlo.
