  • Opabin Lake is a body of water located at an elevation of 2,277 meters in the mountains of Yoho National Park, near Field, British Columbia, Canada.
Opabin Lake can be accessed by two climbing trails, the East Opabin trail and the West Opabin trail. We picked the West Opabin on the way up and East Opabin on the way down. West Opabin involves a somewhat more rugged ascent, where the mossy woods yield to scree, stone steps, and open rocky paths cut into the slopes that offer vistas of Lake O'Hara, Mary Lake, and the surrounding mountains.
Our Journey started at the parking lot of O'Hara Lake where the shuttle picks up their humans!! Because we like to do things different and more intensely, we decided to hike the additional 22 km up and down the O'Hara fire road. It was well worth it as we met a very nice little black bear on the way down, 1 km before reaching the parking lot. Super chill bear who couldn't care less about us, humans!
    Hope you enjoy the video!
