    I get really giddy realizing that it might actually be possible for me to play something like this. Thanks so much for making these videos showing how to play the classic solos. They are really the main things I always wanted to learn!

    I've seen this before :) Thanks for the re-upload. Personally for me I'd like it if you showed the finger positions closer to the camera, I'm a keyboard player and am just getting my head around the transposition and fingering! Would be nice to have a bit more detail in where the notes actually are on the sax (for us beginners) :) ..But amazing vid anyway! Many thanks

    Is there any video, where they guide, to different sounds, i can do that clean sound and that crowling sound, but i seek that great sound, what they use example in smooth jazz.

  • @McGillMusicSaxSchool
    @McGillMusicSaxSchool  11 лет назад

    Hi. Having an idea of what sound you want is the most important first step. Check out which mouthpiece and reed combination your favourite player is using and experiment with something similar. Checkout my sax mouthpiece lesson in Sax School (link in the video notes). Free 7 day trial available.
    Good luck!

  • @ph2738
    @ph2738 9 лет назад

    I was just trying this on my tenor last night, but I found I was one note short of the top note. I would glis up to my F, then I guess I was lipping it up to bring it to F#, Concert E, then going back down I was lost and flat, because all my notes were lipped off key. Had to get a piano in front of me to figure it out. Found out I have to start on a concert E. There's a front F fingering for that F# on tenor that I can easily hit, but I lost the easy glis into it. I guess this riff is always played on an alto.

    hi nigel, i'm a beginner on the alto sax. I think i have a problem with it. It's hard for me to blow it, sometimes it sounds "squeaky" when the sax's reed is wet (because of spittle and breath). Is there any tips for me to decrease the spittle when i blow it?

    Hi, I'm a beginner on the tenor sax and I've never played an alto. I want to learn to play the alto as well. I'm leaving college soon and I've been there for a while, so I plan on doing Sexy Sax Man Style prank during an assembly when everyone is in one room at 8:30am as something for the people there to remember me by after I leave. Betwen now and the summer, do you think I'll be able to pick up an alto sax and get Careless Whisper to a high enough standard to pull off this prank? And how often would you say I should practice? I play my tenor almost every day.

    Hey Nigel....I'm new to the sax and I'm not sure how tight to make the ligature. It doesn't seem to want to stay on the mouthpiece. Any thoughts or suggestions on how to tighten the screws so it stays on the mouthpiece and not "walk" up reed? Thanks.
