Hey, my friend, as a WI. licensed Professional Engineer. You made the right call with using shingles. For metal roofs, you never use exposed screws in conditioned, occupied spaces. A standing seam roof with hidden screws is what you would have needed. Exposed screws would be appropriate for pole barns and the like. Go Brewers and Packers. Take care of that repaired back, you got the outcome everyone prayed for, don't screw it up.
Yeah it was mostly a financial decision but now the shiny are done correctly and good quality I think they will last for many years! There is one part of the back roof I did put steel on like a pole barn style but I had it screwed it in the flats, it’s like a second roof. Will see how it holds up but I can look under it easy and I can get a couple years then I will probably switch to screw less steel. Go Packers, thinking will be interesting year👍
Hey Larry! Please be Careful because you Don’t know if you have any Recoveries left in you and you Can’t go through another Surgery. Your Viewers really Care. 👍🙏
I will be really disappointed if I see him again doing snowmobiling. He is asking a lot of help due to his back, so Larry owes to everyone who stepped in to help by not doing anything that will undo the surgery.
Hope you get this house finished before winter, there's nothing like being out of commission right in the middle of a project like this. So frustrating 😤 😤 Hope this is soon the prettiest house on the block. Hang in there we're rooting for you.
Larry STOP IT, your back isn't ready for Larry's fun house yet, you are going to have to discipline your self and not get involved in lifting or doing anything, let your body heal, then take it out and beat the crap out of it.😁Yeah the back end of the house is defiantly a after thought from somewhere in space and time, whew. Anyway take care of your self....1st..............................see ya next exciting adventure, Please Lord put your hand on Larry and keep him safe from himself.😊
If you get back on a snow mobile this winter after your back issues, the party is over. You need a wife or someone close to you to convince you that those days are over.
I’m not planning on snowmobiling this winter. My doctor says I will be good to go this winter but I’m planning on keep working on working out and building strength so maybe skip this year and get another 20👍
When I first bought it the plan was to just put a bandage inside and use it for the winter instead of renting then knock down and start over. Then I tore into the inside and went way beyond fixing it up so now might as well fix it up outside
hi larry, i have a stealth mission for you! i want you to steal goldie again by taking a car to jbg travel's house and steal goldie back to your house.
The weight is spread out on all the rafters real nice, plus only only layer of shingles is good. I took 3000lbs of shingles off the house roof also so that got rid of a bunch of weight 👍
@@LongHaulLarry what I meant was that a normal roof structure can fail with multiple layers of shingles alone, add the weight of the amount of snow y'all get up there, I've seen it first hand. No snow, but I've seen a roof fail due to too many layers of shingles. One neighbor was a contractor, the other had a hvac. One has me cleaning job sites, running to the store, the other, sent me under houses first to scare off snakes, then help take down, then set in place new duct work. Learned a lot.
@@LongHaulLarry your place is shaping up. I have a house that's not that old, but man, they couldn't hang doors. Every door in may house will not stay open. People tell me to bend the thing pin, nail, whatever others call it. I tell them, I paid for a house with properly hung doors. My grandfather built a house when my mother was a little girl. I want in that house last year, the corners are still square, the doors operate as they should, over 70 years later. My dad built a house too. That gene skipped me all together. I know how things are done. I'm limited to plumbing, some electrical work. My dad, even at 80, can still do long math, fractional math, in this head. Instead of building houses for a living, he drove a truck for Roadway Express.
This video is before I ended up in the hospital, been doing exactly what the doctor has told to, people have really stepped up and given me help with things I can’t do👍

PS, structural foundations need to be founded below the frost like, which is probable 6 feet deep where you are. (It's 6 feet in Tomah)

Thanks for the video . Always glad to see LHL at the Yooper house. Best wishes.

Great plan changing the roof design. Too many valleys will cause havoc
There were way to many valleys
@@LongHaulLarry I could see that.

@LongHaulLarry Thanks for being smart Larry. I appreciate the reply. Good luck and good fortunes for you.
@@LongHaulLarry go with steel
I know all about sciatica.
Hey larry😊
👋
tin roof and wood siding
Not wood for sure, 4-5’ of snow piled up against the house all winter and melting In spring means rotten wood
is it better to keep a house the way it is even if its old is koncking down a house a good thing or bad thing
When I first bought it the plan was to just put a bandage inside and use it for the winter instead of renting then knock down and start over. Then I tore into the inside and went way beyond fixing it up so now might as well fix it up outside
my dad in florida waints to konck down the house and build a new hoise but are they a lot of pros and cons t that@@LongHaulLarry
hi larry, i have a stealth mission for you! i want you to steal goldie again by taking a car to jbg travel's house and steal goldie back to your house.
I would but he left it in Alaska
Why can’t you use a snow rake and just remove 85% of the snow a little snow on your roof not going to hurt the roof.
I do use a snow rake sometimes but we get some snow storms and it will get 3-4’ on the roof. Then you have to climb up there with a roof shovel
Hey buddy hows it going
Getting better everyday 👍
@@LongHaulLarry that awesome. I can't wait to get a cup of coffee with you when you're down here next
You need to sell the dually and buy an ambulance 🤔🤔🚑🚑
😂
Going over and old roof will weigh too much, add a snow load, your roof will collapse.

He actually sold it someone in Alaska for like $500🫣
More roofs, more nails
There was just a few!
