i absolutely love the look of this building! it looks like it’s been there a hundred years! refreshing in a world full of brand new looking tin boxes! 😊
Thank you, other than to look generally interesting according to my taste, looking like it's been here a long time has been the goal since the beginning. While a large metal building would be faster and probably more functional, I don't want one sitting beside my house. I plan on using the loft section for multiple uses with most being creative in nature. Writing, designing, engraving, painting, etc. Having it be cool helps with that for me.
Cannt believe it's been 6 months since the last 9000 dollar house video. Man I loved those house flip videos. Bring them back man
I will.
@@homemadehome5575 just need to know if it's done, if it's rented? sold? ya left us hangin', man. hahaha
Work on the World's longest barn continues!
There was an empty bowling alley in our town....a man bought it & turned it into his man cave. It's a thing of beauty.
Good to see you with the safety harness on with rope secured.
The used metal just adds to the appeal. Dont blame you one bit for using it. All the metal on my sawmill shed is cover sheets and leftovers. Its all different colors but you cant see it from the ground. Good to see you again , the structure is coming along nicely.
I would love to see the $9000 house again. Is it finished? The curiosity is killing me.
Was thinking about you the other day. Glad you are back on youtube! We missed you.
You're not only resourceful with reclaimed materials but stylish with it too. Lovely to see the craftsmanship. Looking forward to seeing more of this work.
What a cool building. I liked the ending, I always knew you were out standing in your field.
It's good to see you post again.
I haven't seen your videos in 8 months. I've been super busy as you have.
Thanks
Love seeing you back! I hope everything is going well!
Thanks, all is well.
I dont believe i have ever seen you wear a harness before when working on a roof. No matter the reason for it now, glad to see you wearing one.
Hey buddy, thought you'd ditched us. Haha. Coming along nicely, i like the way you construct things to sort of blend in with natural surroundings. In my mind's eye, I see a lot of browns and greens with shafts of light from the windows. Nice work on the old man cave, excited to see how it ends up.
most interesting man in the world! Love watching your stuff man. I kept thinking when watching this "he's gotta think to himself that he has built that whole thing completely by himself". I know that feeling and its so cool seeing something big that you've built over time.
Thanks, I would love to have helpers on my rental renovations but stuff like this, I like doing it on my own. If I had help I'd be forced to work fast. I have found that when I work slow the end product is better in terms of it's design (aesthetically and function). I usually come up with an idea, but before I do it come up with a better idea. If I was working like a man trying to get done and get paid, I would miss that opportunity. I wanted help when I started this project, but as I've gotten further into it, it has become a novelty to me that I've done it on my own and would now turn down an offer for help.
Awesome display of persistence and patience. Most people wouldn’t attempt something like this because it takes so long and I’m sure you had doubts too but now look at how many years your family will benefit from this.
Fortunately, I always underestimate my projects so i’m rarely daunted in the beginning. I’ve also done enough big projects to know that they get daunting at some point. What i like about the “work” I do it’s that once it’s done it’s done. Meaning an accountant never finished being an accountant, it’s just never ending paper work. Once I get my siding on i don’t have to do it again, once the rod is on it’s on so I can always make forward progress in either big pushes or small. It would bother me to have a 9-5 knowing i have decades of the same repetitive work ahead of me. I would never calm down. I don’t fault it but it would kill me.
Just outstanding! Beautifully built, yet it looks like it's always been there! Nice work
Thank you
Thanks for sharing! Looking great!
I'll preface this with ''I think that you must be extremely busy''. I wish you'd do more videos. Not that I'm complaining, it's just that I do enjoy and learn from the craftsmanship that ends up showing in your work. Thank you for sharing. I hope that there is another video coming sooner than later. God bless you and yours.
I am busy but what i’m doing just simply takes a long time, consider how long it takes a modern, simple house takes to build. And they are built by a bunch of people slapping them together as far as possible and off materials that are delivered to the jobsite. With that said f i tried i could pay more often.
Thank you for the quick reply, I look forward to your next 'creation''.@@homemadehome5575
@@homemadehome5575 i think what amazes me most is that you are doing all this work completely by yourself. putting those trusses in was gripping video.
What an interesting structure! The roofline is dramatic! Going to be useful, too!
That is one solid barn complex.
I get so happy when I see you have posted a new video. I wish you could do more but I understand with your family and work it makes for a busy life. Anyway thanks for the videos. The structure is coming along nicely. 😊
It's good to see you wearing a safety harness.
Thanks
Outro is still amazing, don't ever change it. What's the update on the $9,000 house? This channel is awsome.
You make my heart smile, hubby was in steel fabrication and if it was metal he could fix it, good job on fixing the sheet metal roof.
Good to see you back. Building looks GREAT! Love that piece of property. Hope you and your family had a great holiday season! Great music selection. Keep well.
We did, thank you.
Doing all that by yourself is impressive! Cheers 🍻
Love all your videos, such a cool project. Can’t wait to see the $9,000 home get wrapped up. I’ve been following from the beginning
Every video is like Christmas morning! Love the barn!
Happy Easter. Hope all is well and Happy Spring.
You are so creative and hardworking! I always look forward to your vids no matter what you're working on or when they come out! 😎😎😎
Looking good! We'll see again in a few months.
She's a beaut Clark!
really nice space for your sawmill! Also nice to get it fully roofed so it is sheltered properly.
I'm really impressed by how flat you manage to get that old metal. I don't think I've really noticed how bent up it is before you really get to it but the difference is really striking.
Most of the metal is pretty good, some as I get further into the project is rough but still manageable. My main reason for using this metal other than cost is it's appearance, I want the building to look as if it has existed here for a while and normal for the region. It's a little different style wise but close enough. Just want it to look like a nice old barn to the passer by.
Biggest man cave ever. I love it
It is big…and growing.
Fixing these really beaten up panels is impressing! Ofc they will never look like new ones but that's not your intention. Bamboo gutters would look ridiculus but I like the idea in general and love to see it in the future in another project.
I'm always impressed how flat the sheets look once installed and viewed from the ground. I'm used to working on woodworking/furniture projects where things have to look good up close, one the exterior of a building, if something looks ok up close it's going to look great at a distance.
Wow, more work, less talk....love it. Oh and the building looks awesome!
Hey, good to see you back. Always love your videos. So informative and enjoyable to watch. How’s the $9000 house coming? Can’t wait to see more of that. Cheers.
The $9000 house is still where it was from the last video, meaning you hasn’t missed thing. I’ll be returning to it soon.
Looks great, new, but like it’s been there 100 years.
TY TY for another vid. The saw mill is looking great.
It looks like it has always been there. Love it.
I hope you have some beefy diagonals on the first floor for some racking strength. Cool looking beast though.
It's strong enough for now but I will be adding more bracing. It's a balancing act of not doing something now that will get in my way later in the building process. Have to consider the buildings intended use, aesthetics, and engineering.
@@homemadehome5575 There is a method to your madness I see...👍
I haven’t been on YT for a hot minute and I saw you have a new video up, and I got excited. I love the look of the barn, and it’s great seeing you again. Happy New Years and blessings to you and the family.
Thank you
Good stuff, I binged all your other videos so I’m always ready for the next one to come out.
Looks great my friend
Great job. It is getting there little by little.
Looking good.😊
L9ve this series, love this building, looks amaizing! Thanks for sharing it with us!
Love the style and design. First time viewer. Subscribed.
Thank you, lots of videos along these lines for your to enjoy on my channel.
Fantastic work.
Great building
kardeşim nerdesin sen özlettin kendini yaptığın işleri izlemeyi seviyorum 👍🏻😁🇹🇷
Great work Sir!!
A one of a kind man cave
Looks amazing! What an impressive feat thus far and what a sense of accomplish you must (and should) feel.
It is sooo cool!😃
Love your videos man.....just finished watching them all 👌🏾👍🏾
Thank you.
Looking good.
I love the building! It reminds me of and old man - his eyes with heavy eyebrows and the middle his mouth 😅. Love it!
Like the old man in the movie UP.
Would love to see wooden gutters but the galvanized would be nice. Happy for a new vid
I'll probably do galvanized but unsure.
Oh, I’ve been looking forward to this … 🎉 You will end up in the building material business, selling wood and boards instead of what you do now.😅
Looking Great!! DD
That’s such a complicated roof! It looks cool❤️🤗🐝
Scroaty approves.
I would live in that😊
do bamboo! dont limit your imagination! sounds like an awesome idea. naturally occurring gutters! so cool
It's a cool idea but I think a little too Giligan Island for this project.
Very nice rustic build.
Looks great! Well done! 😁👍🏼😁👍🏼
Really awesome build I can't wait for you to move in❤
Please finish that house you were doing. It's driving me nuts.
Nice!! It’s coming along.
Long way to get here but you've done it!!
Hey mate can you give an update on your £9000 house. Thanks.
Looking good! Thank goodness for tractors and hydraulics!
It would be much harder without them.
Godspeed

I can’t tell if this is some sort of compliment or if you are using someone else’s words against me. It sounds like something a musician would say, kind of clever but doesn’t quite make sense but rhymed with the next line.
Any plans to do anything to the metal (roof)? Or will it stay in this way? Acid primer/direct to metal sorta thing to get a uniform color or? Loving the build, just curious.
Minimally I'm sealing up old nail holes, etc. The most I would do is paint it a similar silver, either that aluminum paint or a latex........but I like the weathered look in maintaining the idea of this building looking like it's been here a while.
Consider: Some kind of sealant for the roof that is rubbery will make it last. Bo.
I'm going around and sealing up individual holes.
Looks like you got sawmill boards
❤
Where in the world you finding the old metal roofing?Building is looking great.
At a junk yard about 15 years ago for $200. Being a hoarder has its benefits.
sure cant beat that deal.@@homemadehome5575
I’m guessing you don’t have a tenant anymore in the house on this property? You work at all hours of the night, and talked about going inside for snacks. Which would be weird to do otherwise. How do you plan to make this off grid? Solar panels? Wouldn’t it be cheaper to run electric from the main building? I know you said several times you plan to put a stained glass window between the two main buildings on this structure, but what if you used it as a natural wood kiln rack instead? You could put up a crane off the end of the structure on rollers off the ridge beam, and it could be nice for fine wood projects. In the southern heat on a tin roof, it will get plenty hot enough.
Nicely done. I think I might've missed this part, but what is the intended use of this structure?
A sawmill, tractor/equipment storage, an office/studio space and whatever else it turns into.
would you be painting the finished building?
I am in deep thought on this. My consideration is I want whatever I do to weather nicely. I don't want it to be high maintenance and I don't want to be disappointed in how it looks. I have multiple ideas from a dark brown naturally weathered up look that I have seen on certain buildings from painting it barn red. I'm not going to do anything silly and want to stay on the safe side of the spectrum of what I could do and keep in classic looking. But the short answer is that it is going to get some sort of finish.
I like the weather naturally look . Yea a protective finish, but blend into surroundings.
Would some sort of stain finish fit your idea?
I've used oil based stain finishes in other areas but it was cedar shingles, the same type finishes might not translate to pine and poplar without having a corney rustic look.....we'll see.
Was the ridge cap acquired with the roofing? It's weathered like the roofing but appears to be a different style. Regardless, the building looks fantastic and you seem to be having fun. 👍👍👍
It was bought from Home Depot, dented for I think 1 cent each, they just wanted to get rid of it and it has to be bought for inventory purposes.
Really beautiful. Not trying to be a smart alek- but should it have more posts holding it up and cross members on the first story for lateral support?
There will be more bracing, just have to make some decisions about upcoming steps.
@@homemadehome5575 Looks really cool. You have a beautiful property and good skills.
Hate to say it, that might leak. But it looks good
I'm going around sealing up all the holes with sealant.....but yes, it might leak is true.
I miss the common cents talks!
It's coming together beautifully. I can't imagine new metal would cost that much though...it's about $1/SF. At a glance it looks like you have about 4000 SF of roofing.
It is going to have a lean to roof wrapping around the building.
@@homemadehome5575 yes I had made this reply close to the end but right before you went into the explanation about the lean-to additions.
I absolutely agree about the old metal and I love the look…I was just thinking out loud to myself surely it couldn’t be that expensive, but nonetheless even if it was $6k lets say, that’s still a lot of money.
Much respect to you and I hope you didn’t think that I meant anything other than letting my calculator brain go into action to figure that math out.
I love the project!
No offense taken, calculate away my friend. Most of what I say in videos I'm thinking out loud and have said plenty wrong. It's also hard to give full context to a viewer of what I'm doing, intended use, future plans, etc. so it's a guessing game to viewers about what I'm thinking.
Got a question for you. What is the least expensive way to roof your house with metal roofing
Find a pile of old rusty metal 15-20 years ago and use it 15-20 years later... or find a local supplier that cuts roofing to length and install it yourself.
Use p v c pipe for your gutters
I'm going to use something more classic than that. Most likely the galvanized half rounds or I'll make simple wooden gutters lined with sheet metal.
any videos on the house coming soon?
Soonish.
Where is the little white house
Yeet
6 months since progress on the 9k house?
Is this a 5 year project?
I’ll know when i’m done
A house on stilts
New old stock building.
That's a good way of looking at it.
Clever using the front loader to lift the wood. Your like me and need to wear longer shirts
I don’t want to be dramatic and say i could not build the building without the tractor but i don’t think i would.
I read the title as "Tin Man" Cave Build 😅
