Hello! I believe there are new quarantine measures for travelers from China as of Jan 10, 2023. Please see the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan for more info. www.mofa.go.jp/ca/fna/page4e_001053.html Also, MySOS App is no longer required. However, you will need to show your Vaccination Certificate OR your PCR Test Certificate. For more information, please see this website www.japan.travel/en/practical-coronavirus-information/travelers/ Safe and happy travels! ☺
Thank goodness you mentioned this, because I'd been getting conflicting things about the MySOS app. I have a vax card, but I plan to get the PCR test anyway - just for added help.
@@TheMalfean yes, i got the link for i believe to be the same as the mySOS app but it’s a website. I already have all my info but it says they will ask for the code. Just in case I will still get the test done and give them the for they have as well. I have my vaccination card as well hopefully everything goes smooth
Good info. Amazing you got out of the plane at 3:37 PM and down at baggage claim a little after 4:00 PM. I've always used NRT Terminal 1, except for my last trip. When I arrived NRT Terminal 2 on a Saturday evening in mid-December 2022, the entire arrival process took TWO (2) hours. Only two other international flights arrived before mines, but it seems like they had a huge backlog of at least 8+ flights worth of passengers just trying to clear passport control. My flight landed at 7:30 PM. It took 1 hour just to get through the first quarantine checkpoint, and another hour just to get through passport control. Bags were off the belt by the time I reached baggage claim. Got out of customs close to 9:40 PM, then it was another HOUR to get to Tokyo Station by bus. Finally got to where I needed to by close to 11:15 PM...
This video was a lifesaver for my recent trip to Japan! The clear and concise instructions made it easy to navigate Narita Airport after landing, even with all the post-pandemic changes. Do you have any additional tips for first-time travelers to Japan, especially those with specific dietary needs or sensitivities?
We just entered Japan on the week of Thanksgiving. We used to the visit Japan website and not mySOS. Our experience: 1) Visit Japan website was, for the most part, great. We uploaded our vaccine cards (2 adults) and they were accepted within about 20 minutes each. Our 2 minor children were traveling with us and there were no questions asked because spouse and I had three shots (with blue QR code) so minors are exempt from vaccine card or testing requirement. 2) I also did the entry cards on Visit Japan for the four of us so nice not having to fill out 4 pieces of paper on the flight. I just scanned the QR code with each passport. 3) Lastly, did the Customs declaration on Visit Japan and actually found I would have saved time filling out the paper form. Although it moved semi quickly, the electronic document line was LONG (it's to the right of the main customs lines) with about five machines working. Had I filled out the paper document, we would've cleared customs in no time. 4) Immediately after arrival, we were asked to show our blue QR code many times and the people will give you a paper document with pointers about mask wearing and social distancing and ask to see document at all points of the walk. I tried to free my hands by throwing document in my pocket but numerous people wanted to give me a new one. 5) Upon departing NRT, we were directed to the facial recognition immigration lanes and it was a breeze.
How were you able to scan your passports using the Visit Japan website? No matter how many pictures I take, it says it could not read the document. Quite a frustrating experience.
Love the Super Mario Bros mural welcoming you to Japan. So cool 😃. I remember arriving in Narita on my first trip to Japan in 2002. Everything was so drab in comparison to now. I only remember a hanging banner that read “お帰りなさい”, welcoming Japanese people back, but essentially ignoring the foreigners 😂.
I am curious to know what exactly happened at the Immigration counter. Were you asked to show the app on the phone with blue screen or just hand over the papers provided to you by airport staff? I am told the app generates separate QR codes for immigration and customs?
Thanks for this, hopefully this is enough for me, cause I arrive at 9pm (but knowing how airplanes work I will get out of the plane at roughly 9:20pm earliest), and then customs and everything means I'll be done later than 10, which means no train for me lol.
I was so worried it was taking too long cause i have a flight leaving to Korea 3hour after i arrive at Japan, but it seems more smooth than the last time i went to Japan
I was worried too I had planned 6 hours to my connecting flight picking up luggage changing airport checking luggage in again but everything worked much better than expected, I was surprised by Japanese flexibility!(see my comment above)
I am not used to all those electronic gadgets even In 2022. As a nation Japan always seems to be at the cutting edge of Electronics and Machinery even in the 21St Century.
Good info! I guess you can consider it a nice warmup walk for Tokyo where walking everywhere to transit stations is pretty normal. Not sure those papers were all so necessary when you have an app that shows the blue when you're good to go, but then Japan still has fax machines and still uses cash far more than the US. Is this still true even now?
Thank you very much for posting this video!! Can you tell me please, after the immigration, if I don't have a check-in luggage and don't need to go to the baggage claim section, how do I get to the limousine bus ticket counter to buy a ticket to get to Haneda? Thank you very much!
Thanks so much for the actual visual of what to expect. Do you mind sharing how we can obtain the app and get our documents uploaded beforehand? Thank you.

Thanks for the video! Very helpful! I’m worried about not being able to make it to the JAL ABC Counter to pick up my pocket Wi-Fi (closes at 9pm). My flight arrives at 5:50 pm. Do you think I have enough time?

How long did it take you guys to get through all of it? We have a short 3 hour connection and want to know if we can go from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 during that time. Thanks!
The process was relatively smooth. It took us about 40 mins to get out. That might be a lil tough cus most airlines now require you to get your bags and recheck in and usually you need to check your luggages before a certain period of time. Best of luck!
