As a pct I hate to see nurses on there phones, talking and seeing multiple call lights going off. They just act like that’s not there job. I also hate to work with a lazy tech that hides or don’t do rounds. Im taking my PN nclex soon and I won’t be a lazy nurse. I want to help out as much I can while still doing my work.

I love rn’s who were CNA’s. I totally agree about trust and distrust. That’s another way I gauge a good rn.
I had a nurse the other night try to remove her gown after giving meds and tell me “I can’t deal with this right now” regarding a soiled patient that was 2 person assist. Giiirrrrl, I had to put her in her place and remind her this refusal of assistance to provide care for her patient is under her license. She gowned up begrudgingly. LOL I CANNOT STAND RNS LIKE THIS!🤬

I’m very grateful for the nurses who tell me they’ve put residents on bed pans or helped with toileting. It’s like finding an Easter egg on my shift. Lol I do my job and I rarely ask for help so I’m not that lazy CNA. Nurses ask me to do things and I comply. I might grumble sometimes but I still do my job.

This was a great conversation. I've been there and done that. The medical field is hard work especially when the facilities are short handed of their staff. If you are someone who can work in that manner please save your mind, body, and soul by not burning yourself out remember to give yourself some downtime. You are great workers and If no one has never told you that you are wonderful and appreciated then I am telling you that right now! Gratitude from corporate and management in these facilities mean a lot and should be given to their employees more often. It's to bad that they don't know it creates better team leaders. Better care can go a long way with unity it makes better quality of wokers and it's stress free.

It’s not true that CNA don’t help nurses do their job. Most nurses I worked understand expects CNA to change colostomy bags ( not aide training) but they expect it most time to be done by us. They ask for certain creams to be applied THATS considered treatment and should be done by nurses. I’ve had many nurses see a patient sleep or one that out the room just leave their meds on bedside table and many times I’ve had to wake or mind the patient to take med or their in the patient sheets cause nurse didn’t stay to see patient swallow them. I’m asked to apply leg wrappings or unwrap them for nurses. Check patient for wounds and report back. List goes on.

Shit in my facility even the CNAs don't get along

  • @carmenbrown3437
    @carmenbrown3437 Год назад +9

I think most nurses are not lazy. Just some of them.
Some nurses think they are better. I told my mom this and her response was, well, nurses aren't rocket scientists. And she's absolutely correct. They make mistakes too.
A lot of times, I notice that nurses help each other. For example, a nurse will tell me that I can turn a heavy patient by myself and when it is a nurse who has to turn a heavy patient, there are 2 or 3 nurses in there helping that nurse but not the CNA.
Some nurses think that CNAs have 3 times the muscle strength they do. And half the brains.
I believe that nurses earn their pay. They went to school for it, they work very hard. Most of them do.
I understand that nurses may seem dismissive of your concerns being that what you might be telling them, they already know, and their knowledge base is much higher. I get it. They busted their butt to get through school.
So, I try to limit going to the nurse for every little thing. Unless the patient is having trouble breathing or something serious.
When the nurse asks for help, 98% of the time I say yes unless I already have something I am in the middle of.
What I hate about nurses, or any other profession is some nurses who feel it's okay to talk down about their coworkers when they are not around, also, nurses who take advantage of your hard work. Or a nurse that is respectful to a higher up but, isn't to CNAs even if you are one of the harder working CNA. e.g. never answering one single call light. e.g. sitting at the desk chatting, shouting orders at you.
Let's face it. Nobody likes cleaning up messes when their shift is over in 15 minutes. I mean nobody. So, putting someone on a bedpan and answering a light is half the job done. CNAs appreciate the effort. It makes them feel less slave like.
You take advantage of good workers, and it will backfire eventually.
Don't take good people for granted because sometimes they just might take a sick day from exhaustion.
Don't assume CNAs don't get mentally exhausted just because they don't chart. Sometimes it's the nurses they have to work with that make or break their day too.
It's not just about nursing. There is good and poor work ethic in all lines of work.
And, at all levels of the spectrum of nursing.
A little respect goes a long way in any field of work. Don't be rude. Don't be condescending and uppity. Work together.

Power trip. That one year of school to be a LPN I spent more time in school to cut hair. Actually get credit for cosmetology school that can be applied to nursing school. Under my PA cosmetology license can be a med tec, podiatry assistant or work with a dermatologist We are trained to administer oral and topical medication. We are trained to mix chemicals. Infectious disease control is a huge part of cosmetology and barber curriculum. Have both licenses. Attended college for 2 yrs. dropped out to cut hair. Hurt my hand now working in assistant living being badly treated by nurses and administrators. If you think nurses can be a bitch they can not hold a candle to a hairdresser we have PhD passive aggression revenge. Never in my life would want to make someone else feel bad about themselves or look down on any one just because I can but will definitely put you in your place if you do it to me. Cutting hair for 30 years part of my job was to help people feel good about themselves not tear them down. Hred a beauty school student an assistant when I had my shop it never occurred to me to boss her around or be condescending. I always encouraged assistants to finish beauty school go off get their own shop better yet further their education . Willing to learn more will gladly listen to good advice. Will not tolerate disrespect. Do not have a natural immunity to covid never contracted it because of the proper infectious disease control procedures I practice . Working with two nurses that have gotten covid 3 times. Worked with awesome nurses that I admire. Dedicated hard-working compassionate people. There is always a turd in the soup that ruins the good vibe. Them getting covid frequently is the universe throwing a me acorn two blissful weeks now down to 5 days of quarantine is the devil's work.

But if you do LPN first which is 12-18 months to complete, then you could do an LPN to RN bridge program which takes about a year to complete but may be more expensive.I would just wait on the RN program since the waiting list will even push you back 2 years even going an LPN.
