BIIIIG props to those techs for putting your stuff back up on the racks and dealing with that professionally. As a mech myself, it can be frustrating to deal with a bunch of unexpected extra stuff, but it seemed like those dudes had it squared away. Super cool.

As living in the Midwest I love the midwestern niceness when you go to small mom and pop buissnesses and you can sit there and talk to people without having to be quiet and you meet people and nobody’s angry at you for sitting at a bar area eating food talking to locals it’s so wholesome seeing mav talking to that guy in the restaurant made me think about that

Doesn’t he insulate it? That covers the window so he can flip up the insulation to see if anyone is outside. Tinted windows at night with light you can see the light shining through from the outside but not from the inside.
I thought it was a one way see through cause they were pretty dark from the outside

I picked up one never again. It was 12 degrees felt bad. Lady kept getting weirder and weird ask me for s3x for money and if I didn't say I was a minor (I'm not just at that moment felt very threatened cause her hand was about to touch me) pulled over and said get out of my car and at that moment I never again did this.

I bought a A.R.E MX series topper back in 2006 and planned the nomadic lifestyle. I have paired with rear hatched door on my 2004 F150. Life changing events happened and I ended up selling the truck. I enjoy your vids so keep on truckin. 🤙

id get the windows of the topper blacked out so people cant see inside, im sure you already thought of it but just an idea! make you feel more comfortable sleeping in public and keeping valuable items back there
I have a 2017 tundra. I went back and forth about a topper since I bought it. I finally pulled the trigger on an ARE topper and man I love it.
The dog lives riding back there too.
I guess if the wife ever kicks me out I can live in there too!

@@mwood24 ppl with mental disorders can kill you.... a couple would pretend to break down and practice killing ppl by murdering whomever would stop to help them.... plus there are a LOT of psychos in US.... I cant talk for other places, but I've seen enough documentaries on murders and such to not trust strangers in my personal space like that. You have to help from a distance sometimes. I would have bought the guy a bus ticket or something. Plus I work in the ER and A LOT of ppl are off their meds and flipping out. It's scary smh. A lot of ppl just need their meds and therapy but the system is broken and most fall through the cracks.

Petroleum processing plants flare gas like that for several reasons. Pressure relief to avoid explosions, burning off methane which is a potent greenhouse gas, and there's volatile gases that would kill people if released without burning off.
WHAT WE HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR
The fire going on the smokestack is there burning excess natural gas from oil production, whatever can't be pumped out to heat homes is burnt to reduce the volatiles into carbon dioxide, which is a much less severe greenhouse gas.

I love that you have room to sit up now! Even as a weekend sometimes van camper, I rebuilt my set up after not giving myself the right amount of headroom the first time

That fire at 1:30 is used to burn off excess gas/gas products.
When the plant is running at tip top shape there is a small flame if that at all but when they have a problem going on 5they burn it off instead of releasing it directly into the atmosphere

Hey mav just a small tip for crimping things without crimpers. Take a bee bee. Or a small pebble and put it on one side of the connector then use your vice grips ! Awesome new topper man!

I travel a lot of the Midwest myself for work or trips. I use my gym memberships at 24hr gyms to get a pump, shower or sleep while on the road.

I have a Silverado with an 8' bed. I wanted the high-rise topper, since I'm 6' 1" tall and I want to be able to sit in it and work on my laptop comfortably and edit photos. (Main reason for the camper top is to go to a location for sunset/dusk pictures, sleep there, then be right there for sunrise pics too) Unfortunately, they don't make the high top for the 8' bed. I'd consider another truck, but holy crap have they got expensive in the last 3 years. I'm a bit frugal as well and bought a U-haul pickup with 8,000 abusive miles on it and some light hail damage. But the cap is going to cost my probably $4K between cap with options, and bed rug. Might get an ARE MX, seems like the most rise I can get for mine. Well off to bed, I've got to get up for the sunrise. Cheers.

That flame is a flair, in the tanks they have to keep a positive pressure of gas to control the exploration hazard and extra gas created when moving the product that is to burn it so it don’t make it somewhere else and explode or make it in homes.

You should get a roof top tent and cut a hole in the bottom just big enough for you to crall through.then cut the same size hole in the topper so you can have a kitchen/living room and a bed room.

@@marter2006 nope, im living in reality. i have personally picked up over 30 hitchhikers. never been stabbed, robbed or murdered. you can also go do some research on crimes and see being attacked by a hitchhiker is extremely unlikely. the hitchhiker is more likely to be killed by someone texting and driving.
