Ping delivers golden nuggets with humility: “peak height vs spin for playing into the wind.” There isn’t an added exaggeration to make the point more impressive to viewers, they simply state facts. Really enjoy the ping videos.
Very impressed with all of the Ping videos in that yes your results were very impressive, but I love the message that Ping is broadcasting. They don't seem to be caught up in the muscle flexing distance chase, they are looking to help everyone improve their golfing experience.
I’m 66, and suffer with arthritis, been playing P770’s for last 2-3 years, however lost a lot of ball speed and distance. Tried the G430’s out yesterday, and I’m well impressed, definitely ordering a set next week.
My first legit set of clubs were the Ping Zing 2’s. Always been a big fan of Ping. These irons are in serious consideration for my bag even as a +1 handicap.
Wow I did not expect to be so excited by this. Not only because the irons seem like they ought to be amazing, but the insights that the ping guy brought about gapping and wind performance
Though I loved the sleak and austere color and logo of the G425 version, you cant argue with the numbers and sound of these. Very impressive but as a Ping fanboy for life I'm not suprised. 🥰
Got fitted for these off this video, best irons I’ve played. Absolutely good for low HC can work the ball and feel is good. Huge improvement over 425. Better than i230 imo.
I went for a fitting 2 weeks ago wanting to get P790’s, but I hit the G430’s way better. They should ship the end of this week. I can’t wait to get them!!
Currently have 3 Ping fairway woods in my bag that help me deal with age. As soon as I hear higher ball flight, my ears perk up. These are interesting irons. Been in Tucson for a month and I can vouch for the fantastic turf they grow in this part of the world.
Ive been playing Ping irons ever since I was a junior golfer. I have been using a set of i15's since 2009. Ive been considering these irons but im put off by the lofts. My i15 7 iron is 33degs. According to the Retro loft spec data for a 430 7 iron is 31degs. Who knows what that will do to my dynamic loft or launch angle! I think ill get fitted. Either way this testing video was awesome! Thx guys.
Ian you said it. Get rid of the tags of GI or SGI. I am a 10 hcp and play Ping G irons. They allow me to have fun and when I do not hit it square (lost of the time) I do not lose a lot. Looking to try out the 430's.
Agreed 1000%. I play off a 6.2 right now and love G irons. The ball striking does not show up every round so when it doesn't, G irons can save a round. The new G irons look great too and have veered away from the old Ping shovels of old.
@@mikec.2314 Hi I actually switched to the PXG 0211's late last year and have not looked back. Much cheaper and more forgiveness and distance. The fitting process through PXG was second to none with the exception of not have other brands to choose from. It was a free fitting otherwise I would have gone to Club Champion.
Great stuff boys. Liked the explanations from Marty. Although if you look at the lofts I game the g425’s in retro spec starting at a 28* 6i which means 6 clubs to cover through the GW (52* retro lofted ). Now with the g430’s it takes 7 clubs to cover the same loft spread. As a slower swinger I’m not sure 7 clubs is needed. Just my opinion.
I was thinking the same. Then I thought about the possibility to change to the power specs. starting with the 7i all the way down to the 50* wedge. These are only 6 clubs from 27,5 to 50 degrees in really fair 4-5 degrees gaps. on top there will be my 24* hybrid and at the end my 56* SW .. done 😉
Yep .. maybe true. but for me - playing the i500 - it’s like this: the i500 standard lofts (3 to PW) and the G430 Power lofts (4 to 45*) are same or 0,5/1 degrees different. So I could use same amount of clubs with “same” gaps ;)
Man I wish I wasn’t so hung up on aesthetics because I know these would help me score better. I also know how stubborn and block headed that is, but it still just is. Once technology and materials allow for this performance to go into a club that looks more like an i59, myself and lots of other players won’t hesitate to bag them.
Unfortunately I’m not sure you can pack but so much technology into an iron and have it as small as an i59 or even the new i230. But you’re right it would be nice if they ever do..
He failed to mention that they also will have a 45.5°,50°,54°and a 58°wedge. The way he put it it sounded like they went from 41°PW to a 50° which would be quite the gap.. very interesting how he explained how those badges on the back flex
Him talking about the "happy accident" part didn't instill a ton of confidence for me in their engineers. The fact that it caught Ping that off guard that a super rigid badge would affect sound/flight and they'd better make something less rigid. I feel like they should have long known that basic characteristic in an iron head by now
Cripes...and I just recently got fitted with PXGs. Oh well, I'm STILL going to trial these Pings and may have to hint for a birthday gift card from waifu 😜
What handicap range are these aimed at? Am currently 14.6 and am thinking these could be perfect for me? Am going in for a fitting shortly and it’s either the TM stealth or ping g430.
See y’all always use the shafts with current set of clubs fitted to. Do the new club head weights not differ from current ones, that you don’t need to use a different shaft for different head? Hope that makes sense.
It doesn't look like they used the Micro Max grooves on the G430. I wonder why as they are used to promote Spinsistency & therefore consitency on yardage? As used in the i59 & i230.
I would love if I could get these with minimal offset. That is what deters me from playing these types of irons, I just don't like the view at address.
I wish PING made a sleek blade just once. Every iron looks like a tank and super bulky. Even their previous "blades" are bigger than the typical blades from other brands.
@@clubchampionmedia True, the Blueprints are definitely nice but when I say blades I'm thinking 620 Mb's, Wilson Staffs, P7-TW's, etc. If PING made something like that that would be amazing. Maybe one day.
Im actually really surprised with distance irons of late. Ive jokingly tried the newer ones with a 7 iron, thinking I'll easily get this to 200 yards or more. Nope. Honestly quite close to my more players irons. They're not bombers anymore
Why can’t they make an iron like this, but with less offset? A lot of these irons are great, but the offset doesn’t fit my eye. Mizuno does make the Hot Metal Pro as an example. I know the word Pro is way over used, but I think a Ping G430 Pro type iron would be a huge hit and cover such a wide handicap range. Kind of like the the P790, but more forgiving!! Who wouldn’t be interested in that?
not to mention how much more it costs for a set of these. golftown has them listed at 1650 for 5-U.... but the way they gapped this set you literally need an additional club if you were using the 50 degree gap from the G425s you either need to buy ANOTHER g430 bringing it closer to 2k or another specialty wedge.... Very weird that they found it within reason to make a set that needs 8 clubs to cover what would be a 7 club spread.
@@Traplordsosa I just ordered the new G430s. I went with the 5-pw and added the 45&50 wedges. The way I figured since they all are at least a club strong through the set I would just feel like the 45 was the real pw and just go from there. Eventually I’ll figure how far each go so it really doesn’t matter what the number on the bottom is. That makeup is still 8 irons and the price is going to be $1260 for the set of steel so not sure why such a hike from the other spot you mentioned.
@@Tom-ok2rh Yeah it is disappointing I had G425s and I had 5-gap and the gap wedge was actually 50 degrees like a gap should be. Now the gap is 45... a pitching wedge so you need to buy ANOTHER gap wedge... that strikes me as silly. the set should have just been labeled 1 club lower like the 5 should be 4 and so on. They want the false yardage story. still a great set. just some smoke in mirrors.
Trouble is way more people would play these irons if they weren't so offset. All I see when I look at these style clubs is a hook. Always thought a version where you got all the tech, without the offset would do well with better players.
90% of amateur golfers miss short left offset is a good thing for almost all with the exception of professionals and elite amateur golfers also not good for hacks that come in steep from the inside

"That's really good" you can hear the genuine surprise in Matt's voice after that first one - love it
This guy from PING is an incredible salesman. I now 100% want these clubs.

Impressive performance from Ping and the best sounding "game improvement" iron I've heard.
I like these and the Mizuno JPX hot metals.
Wow the badge tech part was really interesting
Great info about that back badge and the 425 testing.

Wow ! Who fixed the sound ?? Well done Ping

Wild how good these sound
Sounds and reads as one of the most exciting products this year. First one that has really turned my head.

A 29° game improvement 7-iron with that kind of spin and landing angle? Ordered mine and am excited to hit them.

Interested in that 50 degree. Especially with the prices of glide 4 and forged pro.
Love the sound. Like the iron is strong!
Well I love my 425 fitted irons; but this video was a wakeup call
I will be getting these and the hybrids!

How different are these from the g425s ? It seems like the sound is better but very similar ball flight characteristics
i'm concerned about water getting into that cavity since the badge is so flexible. can it be removed for maintenance?
Can I start a Marty Jertson fan club?

Hit the G430, didn't really care for them, just didn't feel that great to me, thought the Srixon ZX4 and 5 MKII both felt better.
What ball is being used in the Video?
Smoke and mirrors when G430 PW is 41* while the G425 PW is 45*. Cmon Ping!!!!!! Stronger lofts = longer distance
Did you watch the video?

Can we just remove the backplate from a G425 or older iron and gain a bunch of ball speed at the cost of sound? 😂

That badge is weird. But I see now why it is.
Does anybody notice these companies sell you clubs and the next year they tell you they sold you junk Biggest Racket Going
41 degrees is not a pitching wedge lol
Do they still look like doritos on the end of a shaft?
197 yards with a seven iron. That is just sickening.
i59s are SOOOO nice but they cost $$$$$
