    I know a lot of people say that camping in the rain is their favourite type of camping, but for me I do enjoy camping in the rain, there's something very peaceful about it but I wouldn't say it's my favourite way to camp. I actually like changing it up quite a bit. I'm not the greatest at tarp camping but every time I try it I get more confident in it. I still have a lot to learn. This was a fun trip, and I am thankful that the bugs weren't very bad. Thanks for watching and I am curious to see how many other people like camping in the rain?

      It's funny you ask. Personally I do not like camping in the rain, just too much work at the end of the day, but I absolutely love watching camping videos in the rain, go figure!

      Ya I like the idea of camping in the rain, it sounds like it should be peaceful but I think I would be so stressed worrying that all my gear would get wet and I would get wet and not be able to get dried. I'll still to summer and fall camping!

      @@sabrinalyons3827 Ha you have a good point. I guess I just decided if I get wet then I get wet. Plus I was prepared for the rain. Fall camping is pretty great.

    Love watching the camping in the rain videos. so peaceful. You film wonderful ASMR videos you should consider making a channel on ASMR?

      Thanks Lee. I love the natural sound but I have not tried doing an ASMR video yet. I have thought about it, perhaps a second channel.

    Your tarp setup looked good. I have used one of those nite eze caribiners and they work really well. The diehards don't like them because they think you should always use your knots, whatever! I enjoyed the video. That is a great little stick stove, perfect size. Thanks Dave.

      Ha thanks Jake. Ya the tarp set up worked well. I think I would change it a bit but it was a good test. I try to set it up in a way that works for me. I'm always open for advice. The stick stove worked well but it was a bit too big for backpacking, perfect for canoe camping. Thanks Jake.

      Thanks Sue. Sorry that you have not been able to get out yet. The stick stove was good, it's not something I would use often but it was good to have for this trip. Thanks for watching and the kind words.

    Great video Dave. I love these rainy camp videos. I also love your hockey skate laces as prusik knots, very funny. I hope you didn't get too wet.

    Example of a nice simple camping experience. Please tell more about twig stove and the table.

      @DavidNorthFilms  2 года назад

      Thanks Peter. The stick stove was from redcamp. They sell it a few places including Amazon. I did try to buy another one from some place local but they didn't have what I was looking for. The table is little and easy to set up. I'm not sure the brand as it was a gift.

    I love that little stick stove. We bought one but it's so small and it was all deformed after the first use. Good for you carrying it in the backpack! You should have called this video, "waiting for the rain...then it really rained!" You seemed to handle yourself pretty well in the thunderstorm, then again you handle yourself pretty well in these video, it helps to keep your cool. How do you keep all your camera equipment from getting soaked in those rain storms? Thanks for sharing.

    • @DavidNorthFilms
      @DavidNorthFilms  2 года назад

      The stick stove was good, it was too heavy for backpacking but I knew that going into this trip, stupid me! Ya it was a weird weather trip. It started with the rain then the rain stop, then it poured and thunderstormed! it was suppose to rain the entire trip, oh well. Funny you should ask about protecting the camera, I actually used an umbrella to cover my camera on the tripod. It worked pretty well but when the wind picked up I had to take the umbrella down and stop filming. Thanks Kelly.

    You are a braver soul than I sir...! That firebox is pretty cool. Question, why do you prefer that folding saw over say a hatchet, is it the weight?

    • @DavidNorthFilms
      @DavidNorthFilms  2 года назад +1

      The main reason I use the folding saw instead of the hatchet is safety. The saw is very safe and easy to use. I'm pretty good with the hatchet but there's always a chance for an accident. If something happens in the Backcountry I'm screwed. I do use the hatchet sometimes, it makes me look much cooler 😂 and I love filming the hatchet!
