Someone else studying Koine Greek on their own! Makes me excited. Reading Greek slowes you down, but you take away so much more. I am in the BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) study of the gospel of John. I read the text in Greek using The RUclips videos Daily Dose of Greek as an aid. It gives me the Erasmian pronounciation, grammar, and translation for each verse. My goal is to use Greek for the New Testament. It will be interesting to see how long it will take to get there.

That’s awesome! I also use Daily Dose of Greek. Bill Mounce also started going through verses of the Bible and explaining a little more in depth too. Good luck 🍀 with your studies!

Learning Greek in college and seminary was one of the most valuable skills that I still utilize. Good for you! It will open so many doors. Hebrew is also pretty fun to learn. :)

Subscribed! Your study journey appears to be pretty similar to mine, although I have yet to make it all the way through the Bible because of detours and, as you mentioned, I didn’t like that I wasn’t remembering more details and names from the OT. Have you explored the idea of memorizing entire books of the Bible? I just recently found out that’s a thing.
I found the Bible in a Year podcast around 2021, but have yet to finish it. Don’t get me wrong - I love the podcast, but my struggle with it was the passive nature of consumption. I did stick with it long enough to question why anyone who wasn’t divinely inspired would record so many negative stories about their ancestors 😂 All kidding aside, that helped me better understand the concept of sin in a way that my mind no longer automatically rejects it as irrational. Now I’m going to the opposite extreme and doing a deep dive study of a single book, and I may also try to memorize that same book.

You know, I have tried listening to podcasts and ran into the same issue…too passive, not enough info retention. I haven’t heard about book memorization, sounds intriguing though. 😀

I added tape to the edge of the index card and attached it to the page where I wanted it. As for Greek, it was daunting at first but I got the hang of it after a while. 😀
