    I would also recommend The Jesus Bible, The Cultural Backgrounds Study Bible, The NLT Illustrating Bible, The Complete Jewish Study Bible, The Holy Land Illustrating Bible, a good Bible Dictionary, a solid basic study Bible like the ESV, a devotional version like She Reads Truth Bible, a basic journaling version like the CSB Notetaking Bible, and the Archaeological Study Bible along with a good Bible Atlas. A good basic commentary set is the Bible Knowledge Commentary Old and New Testament set. Last would be Thompson Chain Reference Bible.

    Bible Study is a personal journey to me. When I read the scriptures it becomes an adventure to asking questions and seeking revelation. It gives insight to what you need at that time. We will never get the whole of the Bible because His Word gives different meaning each time you read it. I simply enjoy note taking just to see if I get that same revelation.

    I like studying scripture by book and so does the pastor I follow, so for 2024 I will use one notebook for each book of the Bible. For years I would grab a notebook take notes in it and when it was full, start a new one. But the information was so random and had no structure. This year I was researching systems of organization and realized that having one notebook for each book of the Bible would keep everything together. It would also be easier to reference sermon notes and other study notes as I study on my own. This idea created a new excitement about studying more and being able to go back and find things.

    I loved this video! I have SO many notebooks of studies I've done. I tend to remember better if I make actual notes or outline what I'm reading. But I dig them out, and think....What was this one? I've forgotten whatever I've written or most of it anyway. I'm searching for a way to make things stick, and stick so I will live it out in my every day life. Right now I'm using composition books--they are cheap--and they are easier to store. But again...I pull it out and forgot half of what I've written! And I love going deep in my studies. I'm like you, the commentaries just don't help me as much anymore. I want deep deep....like I'm an archeologist and I through the layers and layers!! I subscribed as I feel like we think alike!! God bless you!!

    I just did The Bible Recap for the past two years and loved it. (A reading through the Bible in a year chronologically along with a “recap” podcast). I loved it but it goes very fast. I’m looking to go slower this year. Preciously I worked on studying Jesus’ life in the Gospels chronologically. I think we will pick that back up this year. Just found your channel and look forward to more of your content.

    I would recommend the ESV Bible Atlas over just about any other. Great maps and nearly double the content of any other atlas. Much like the ESV Study Bible, the ESV Bible Atlas is in a class by itself. This is coming from someone who has nearly a dozen atlas’s and does not use the ESV as his primary translation.

    • @israelrivera3009

      I just got “The New Moodie Atlas” , do you think the ESV Atlas is also much better than this one?

    • @SaneNoMore
      @SaneNoMore 11 месяцев назад

      @@israelrivera3009 The ESV Atlas will certainly have more content overall (2lbs heavier than the Moody) with almost twice as many maps in total (90 vs 175) and comes with a code to access maps online. That said, the content in the New Moody Atlas is excellent and densely pack with information. As a reference volume used to inform your Bible reading the Moody is more than sufficient and unless you have a specific interest in the geology and topography of the Bible there is usually no need to have more than one Atlas.

    I really like the idea of how you condensed your outlines it reminds me of how in schools they say you can bring in the index cards to help you on tests and it pushed you to get creative on how to fit information on it. I am very visual in my learning so I also use mapping techniques, and watching videos like the bible project on RUclips to help me. Also books like Church History, I only was introduced to that book because I attended a Ministry school during a sabbatical year, so I all the books I needed for that I kept because they were very helpful, I think you can go on some school's websites and get a book list or even ask. A commentary that has helped was Wiserbes he has whole bible commentaries and also book by-books as well that have worked if you haven't heard or tried him. Do you use any digital resources? E-sword has helped me as well, along with when I verse map and do word studies, and also you can find some free commentaries on E-sword as well! Hey in a video I recently saw you do you were talking about how you are changing your reading plan to daily I believe New & Old Testament on certain days and Poetry / Wisdom on other days how is that going? Could you share a little more on that sometime in the future?

    I love your explanation with biblical theology. I want to work on this next year on Hermanuetics, and see how the nt authors interpret the Old Testament, and how the Old Testament authors interprets the Old Testament etc. I’m working on finding out what the authors message is to their own audience and how do we apply it in our own way as well. One commentary series I love is the Baylor on the Hebrew Text (haven’t looked at their series yet in the Greek New Testament), it really helps with learning about the Greek or Hebrew of the text, and if you haven’t learned Hebrew yet, the Jonah book is a great book to start 😊
