    Pretty sure You’re GTS has reduced sound deadening. My 991.2 definitely had it. You also got bigger brakes. Plus you could spec buckets in yours and the .2 car. They introduced lightened glass on the carrera T. Now available on the 992. Your car is still fire. 🔥🔥🔥

    Thx for sharing your passion! I'm not certain, but based on other videos, it appears that the ''deletion'' on sound detening only comes if you choose the Lightweight package, nobody else mentionned that all new GTS comes with less sound detening... I could be wrong. Congrats on keeping your normally aspirated GTS. Regards.

    Joe, I've following your channel since we both got our 991 GTS (mine was black) way back around 2015. Always enjoy your videos, and it's nice to see you still around. After a slew of GT cars, building a new one right now and considering Agate. Such an awesome color. If I don't go Agate, I'll likely go Aventurine Green or GT Silver. I get sick of colors so I usually stay with greys or silvers. How has the Agate aged in your eyes? Oddly enough, after all these years, I don't recall ever seeing Agate Grey in person. Is there some brown in this grey? Do you think it work well with Cohiba leather? Thanks for your thoughts and take care.

    Given the price of this GTS, I think I'd just go with a GT3 touring for that naturally aspirated 4.0 which gives you that 9000 RPM redline providing a more engaging soundtrack and a more linear driving dynamic. That's just my preference though.

    • @mcw5318759

    • @dlg5485
      @dlg5485 3 года назад +2

      @@mcw5318759 At these prices, a $10k - $15k price difference is relatively insignificant and ALL vehicles are hared to get right now. If I was going to purchase any vehicle as expensive as a GT3 (or any 911), I'd definitely special order the exact spec I wanted and wait for it.

      Not everyone wants a RWD only model and you wouldn’t even get a GT3 model unless you were a either million pound+ Porsche customer or were willing to pay a reseller a 30%+ premium 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @hindsite275
      @hindsite275 3 года назад

      We would all go for a GT3 touring, if we could get one. I doubt Porsche would sell any other car if they made that readily available. Apparently in the UK, only 34 GT3 tourings were made available for sale, so as many as you see on insta, etc, they are a really rare car, hence the dealer markups. So GTS is as close as most people are gonna get, but as you explained it’s a very different car.

    The GTS also has the Turbo sports suspension with the helper springs in the back, not just the Turbo brakes. And the manual is internally strengthened to cope with the extra torque. Maybe that's why you no longer get the Sports Chrono package for free with the manual.

  • @aviator-kn8zq
    @aviator-kn8zq 3 года назад +1

    Looks very nice but mostly typical GTS upgrades apart from the lightweight package. I would only go for the GTS if I can't get a GT3 tbh. It's pretty much a sportier package model still halfway there to a GT3.
    Hence a lighter Carrera with some cool options would suffice.

    The real advantage of the GTS in the Carrera line up until the 991.2 generation was the wider rear combined with the rear wheel drive, that was a unique offering (borrowed from the 2010 limited edition ‘Classic’ model), which only the GT models could/ can offer at the expense of less comfort (no rear seats, more stiff chassis, all in all more track oriented set up…). With the 992 all this is gone, I don’t see any real competitive advantage now, you could just buy a Carrara S and add a few more options and there you go…

      I agree with all the above, plus I’m not a fan of all that exposed plastic just like Joe mentioned, and I was never a fan of all that interior alcantara. I’d go with a cheaper Carrera S or 4S and just add the extra options.

    • @TheTallRaver
      @TheTallRaver 2 года назад

      No, adding options to normal. Carrera S will cost more, than a GTS.

      I made a video on comparing the 997 and 991 in the past. But I think I should update it now that I have much more experience. I really enjoyed my 997.2 C2S manual. It is a great car. I also continue to enjoy the 991.1 GTS PDK. You can't go wrong with either. The 991.1 GTS is more powerful with generation enhancements to handling and the PDK is truly amazing. Even though I have had manuals all of my car life, the PDK is impressive and fun. Do I miss the interactivity of the manual, at times yes. The performance envelope of the 911 GTS is greater than the 997 Carrera S, but I the C2S manual has more of an analog feel, which is very enjoyable. Some people praise the hydraulic steering of the 997 vs the electronic steering of the 991. Not sure I could tell that difference, honestly. Maybe I would've needed track time in the 997 to feel that, not sure. Yeah, I think I need to do an updated video on this comparison, but those are some of my top-line thoughts.

      It’s £3k more than the 4S I was going to order, so went with the GTS cause it came with almost all the options I had spec’d on the 4S, plus the turbo wheels looks better then any of the 4S wheel option IMO, and the GTS has always had better residuals. Total cost for mine £123,706. The GT3 touring I had spec’d was £131,713 but no slots at any U.K. dealers - VIPS only innit!

    I cant stopping laughing at how hard Porsche is trying to make the car sound better. I have a hint for Porsche, if F1 with their billion dollar budget couldn't improve the sound on turbo F1 cars, the street cars have no hope. Concentrate on 0-60 and bragging rights about Tq numbers, you want sound, feel and true essence of GT cars, get a 991.1 S or GTS (or GT3 of course). Turbo cars ruined modern 911s, period!

    • @christiandieterich8766
      @christiandieterich8766 3 года назад

      Maybe, but I guess PORSCHE is as sad as you (and most petrol heads) are about that. They are forced by legal measures to reduce noise levels (dbA regulations in germany and probably also rest of europe will become stricter soon, so they already are complying now in order to not be forced to modify it afterwards). Next thing is the reduction in CO2 exhaust, this also is only achievable by a combination of reducing the engine size plus turbos. Industry in germany needs to achieve a certain CO2 level across their range they offer, if they want to avoid huge fines. Since PORSCHE does not build Polos, Twingos or Smart Cars, to minimize the penalty they stick to the hybrid models and to the Taycan.
      Guess if they would be allowed to do whatever they wanted, all street legal 911s would sound like the RSR model, which in my opinion is the best sounding PORSCHE EVER!!!
