    I have xr1200 2010. Very good and reliable bike. Owned now almost 4 years. Pleasure to ride ;)

    I just bought an 08 XR1200, the suspension isn't great but I like it a lot. I've had dozens of bikes including other Harley, this one might be a keeper.

    I'm retired from Harley Davidson and acquired four XR1200's in the past few years. Sitting on them as investments but also because they're incredibly enjoyable, pleasant and fun bikes to ride. Bomb proof drivelines and very appealing to the eye. A slightly more upscale exhaust and a simple tune and you're right at 100HP at the crank.

    • @droommotor
      @droommotor  2 месяца назад +1

      Would love to own one myself. What type would you recommend as an investment standpoint? The first version or the ''x''?

    • @frankcastle5294
      @frankcastle5294 2 месяца назад

      @@droommotor Investment-wise, it's tough to say. Many are partial to the motor and swing arm "natural finish" mirroring the XR750 which they're fashioned after. Others find the X model with "blacked out" mostly everything, to have more of a Vincent Black Shadow look to it. Suspension on the X just a tad more upscale than prior years. One thing the non-X models have going for them is the Mirage Orange Pearl color which is wildly popular and never available on the X. I'd look for an orange one but really....you'd be happy with any XR. I can search for you if you'd like. Location???

      Wrong! Swap out the exhaust, add a tuner and filter. I put 90HP at the rear. I have the Dyno sheet to prove. They still race them today in the Super Hooligan Class. 3 raced this year at Daytona in March. You will not see any XL 1200 or 48s out there. They never even crack the motors on these bikes. They are set up perfectly from the factory with Buell leftover parts. I also have a 2021 KTM 890DukeR. The XR is way more fun to ride. They both race against each other in the Super Hooligan Class. The 890 is faster and lighter. It is so easy to ride. Just like all the sportbikes today. It is way, way, way, way more fun riding bikes without electronics. Old school. The electronics control the bikes not the rider. Even if you "shut them off" they are still on.

    • @billwilliamson9842
      @billwilliamson9842 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@KevXRDuke yep, the XR is the bike so many wanted Harley to build but so many have no clue they even exist or that they are not just another sporty. Mine put down 93 rwhp with just exhaust. thundermax ecm and filter. I'm sure I can pick up a few more hp on it with a cam change but at the sacrifice of driveability. I think the XR's are pretty much spot on stock.

      @@droommotor not sure how thats lucky as thats WAY over priced. You can find nice low mileage XR 1200's for 5-7k all day long. Maybe not 300 miles but under 6k miles for sure, no way i'd pay much over 8k for any XR and it better have a ton of options and add on's for that price. Thats where the real value is in these bikes, the factory options and add ons.

  • @KevXRDuke

    The people who own "regular" Sportsters think it is the same! They never rode an XR. The XR is way better bike and around 20HP more from the factory. Anybody that knows a thing or 2 about Harleys ...that is a lot!!! That would almost be double in Japanese bikes. Most Harleys are around 50 or 60HP. Plus the brakes are the same as a CBR600rr. I buy the same pads. The Showa inverted forks and totally different fuel injection. Plus Harleys version of a ram air induction. The gas tank is plastic to save weight. Like Ducati did at the time. Those are just a few of the things they seperate it from a "regular" Sportster.
