    I have found that long term anything from watches, stereo amplifiers men’s suits and dress shoes to cars. Understated,,elegant and timeless designs endure and actually become more endearing with time. Two years from now people will love this styling.

      Just because something is understated doesn't mean it'll age well. Honda did the front end wrong. The previous generation and the 9th generation touring still have front ends that look more modern than this. I didn't care too much for the previous generation's front end, but seeing the 11th and 10th generation parked together put things into perspective for me.

    You and your wife were pretty hard on the Accord's styling. I have a 23 EX-L in Urban Gray and have really gotten to love the look. Although, I would admit this is far from the Accord's best style over the years. The 89-93 generation with sloped front and pop-up headlights (not sure what gen that was) was the best look over its history. The 2007-2012 years were the worst looks in the Accord's history. I really hated the back end of the 2007 and then the jelly bean look of the 2010 generation. When driving, I feel like this Accord cuts through traffic like a knife through butter. The Touring is too expensive and the high-end stereo should have been an option on the EX-L and Sport-L trims. My only negative feedback is the low entry is harder on my aging body when contorting my back to get in the driver's seat. I can see why older people in their 40's and up need higher center of gravity for entering and exiting a vehicle. With the EX-L, I'm getting 50+ mpg in the summer months - numbers the Prius would be lucky to match.

      This is true, and I agree about the early 90s. Some excellent looking Hondas and Acuras during those years. Well, I think it’s incredibly elegant. I really do, and Toyota meanwhile is going down a contemporary route that seems to me to be extremely conventional. The Honda makes me think of that 60s Lincoln, which is very simple yet still timelessly beautiful.

    Just bought my '24 Accord a few days ago. I never thought I'd ever own a white car, but this generation of Accord actually looks super clean and expensive in the white pearl color. I have the EX-L trim and am absolutely in love with it. Traded in a '21 Chevy Trailblazer RS for it. While I will miss the AWD and (slightly) more cargo room, I've learned that having a quiet, comfortable ride with incredible fuel economy is what I value most in a daily driver. Of course nearly 20 years later, this Accord hybrid is a superior performer, but it doesn’t set itself apart from the crowd in the same way. I cannot STAND the new Accord...I grew up in Hondas...my mother was driving Civics before I was even born and I grew up in Accords (2nd and 4th gens) that my mother and grandmother drove in the 80s and 90s. I cannot stand this new Accord NOT because its a bad car, I'm sure its a fine car, overall but BECAUSE it a Honda Accord and the expectation for Accord redesigns is SUPER HIGH. The Accord being redesigned every four or five years used to be a HIGHLIGHT for me. It was a family sedan, but it was soooo good at what it did generation from generation that people were excited to see the next generation. You could tell that Honda wasn't too excited about this new Accord because it was released with very little fanfare, no real big press release. The 10th generation debut was huge, hell even the 9th genereation facelift was a bigger event than the 11th generation redesign. The Accord is the benchmark sedan in its class. Outside of the stellar MPG from the Hybrid, everything about this new generation feels like a downgrade. Interior design? Straight out of the new Civic/CRV/Integra/HRV. Feature content? Downgraded...no more SiriusXM, no more rear adjustable headrest, no rear AC vents unless you get the EX-L or Touring, no Homelink, no 2.0t.
    They styling is STALE and BLAND. The 10th generaiton wasn't a beauty queen (I personally hated the taillights) but at least the car had PRESENCE...say what you wanna say about the 10th, but it looked sportier and NEWER than the 11th generation does. The new one is too long (its the same size as the last Avalon) with overhangs that are unneccessary, the front is bland, looks like an anonymous sedan in a tv commerical.
    I drove a 2023 Touring when they first debuted and while it did drive nice, the total lack of power compared to the 2.0t I had in my 2019 was evident. There were rumors that Honda was supposed to offer a unique hybrid powertrain for the new Accord instead of the mostly carryover system we get from the CR-V. Perhaps I wouldn't hate the car so much if it had a better hybrid powertrain (and better styling)
    I've personally owned 3 Accords...i inherited my Grandmother's 1991 EX, I owned a 2007 EX-L 5spd sedan and I owned a 2019 Accord Sport 2.0t 6spd. I get why the manual died (nobody buys them) but the dropping of the 2.0t is inexcusable to me, especially since they dont have a hybrid model with similar power to the 2.0t.
    The fact that AWD, a panoroof, heated steering wheel and a 360 camera are still not offered is a shame. I'm looking forward to the next Camry and I hope it kicks the Accord's ass because HONDA should have more respect for the Accords name and its reputation in this country. This was a punt of a redesign. Hyundai put more effort into the 2025 Sonata facelift than Honda did in this "redesigned" Accord. The car feels and looks cheap, like a Great Value/Walmart version of the 10th generation. When people think of the Honda brand, the first names that come to mind are Accord and Civic. They did a decent job with the Civic (though it was DECONTENTED too) they (Honda Japan who designed this bland mess) shitted all over the Accord.
    I hope this thing bombs so Honda is forced to redue it...but my fear is that Honda doesn't give a shit and will just discontinue the car in a few years or make it into a stupid crossover. Thats the rumor anyway. I have no issue with crossovers per se, but I feel like Honda will use this lame excuse of an Accord as a reason to discontinue the car in a few years if sales end up bombing.

      @jax1079  11 месяцев назад +2

      Totally understand the passion and disappointment, but there's no way the car will flop. It's literally nearly perfect in every way people car about cars... it's just not an Accord in the traditional sense. For anyone wanting a sedan, they should only buy this until the next Camry comes out and we can revisit the comparison. Until then, I'll keep crossing my fingers for a Sport trim that's actually like the Accord. Thanks for watching!

    You said that the trunk is a little smaller than the _Crown?_ Um, no.
    Passenger Volume and Cargo Volume, according to EPA
    Toyota Crown: 98 ft^3, 13 ft^3
    Toyota Camry: 100 ft^3, 15 ft^3
    Toyota Avalon: 103 ft^3, 16 ft^3 (Discontinued)
    Honda Accord: 106 ft^3, 17 ft^3
    So no, the Accord is not smaller than any of these, it is bigger than any. Some, by a lot. It;s really top-of-class. The VW Arteon has more, but all of it comes out of the passenger space.
    Everybody gets this wrong: The 2.0L engine and the battery combine to make 204 HP. The traction motor alone makes 247 lb-ft of torque. But in any acceleration situation, the motor propels the wheels alone, powered by the battery and the engine-driven generator.
    Neither the Accord hybrid, nor the Camry Hybrid, come with AWD. Both the CR-V Hybrid, and the RAV4 Hybrid, do. The RAV4 uses the back-wheel motor you describe, and because of that has poor power distribution. The CR-V uses a traditional mechanical system.
    Did you try SPORT mode? It tightens up the ride and steering, like you want for "Accord DNA." It will dink the mpgs a little, but you can get that back with INDIVIDUAL mode.

    • @jax1079
      @jax1079  11 месяцев назад

      I appreciate the info, but I pretty much said all of that. Also, I was mistaken about the trunk space but it’s listed pretty much everywhere at 15.2 cubic feet, not 13. And the Accord doesn’t have adaptive or adjustable dampers, so changing the drive mode sharpens throttle and transmission response but not ride/handling.

    • @jeffjo8732
      @jeffjo8732 11 месяцев назад

      @@jax1079 Um, you said the Crown had more. Even if you believe Toyota's claim,15.2 is still less than 16.7. Then, most reviewers will just repeat the manufacturers numbers, while the EPA measures it. Sine Toyota finds ways to be creative with such numbers, I lean toward the EPA. You can also go by Consumer Reports, where they don't go by volume. They have test luggage that they try to put in. Accord: 4 large suitcases, 1 small carry-on. Crown: 2 large and 2 small. That supports the EPA's number more than Toyota's.
      And I'm sorry, I didn't realize that the 2023+ doesn't have dampers. I drive a 2018, and it does.

      I don't disagree in the sense that it's the perfect sedan, which I even say say multiple points. But as a long time Honda fan and multiple Accord owner, I've always thought of Honda (especially cars) as an affordable Japanese BMW. Good quality, simple, Germanic driving characteristics. This Accord is literally a perfect car in many ways, but the lack of excitement in the powertrain and suspension makes it feel more like a focus group designed sedan than a Honda Accord, but that certainly doesn't diminish how objectively good it is.

    • @kenhiett5266

      @@jax1079 That makes sense. The Accord and the Civic have been slowly growing over time, so it seems like Honda decided it was time to lean into a more luxury ride that's commensurate with its size. The Civic is big enough to step into that role for someone like you who's looking for a more chuckable ride. I just think we let nostalgia get the best of us sometimes. We tend to overestimate our experience in those older models when we were younger. You don't have to go back all that many years to be in a slower accelerating top trim level Accord, that would have a hard time pound for pound matching the handling in the latest gen.

    I have owned nothing but Hondas and Acuras since I got my first Honda as a teen way back in 1985. I currently own a '21 Accord Touring 2.0T. I was excited about seeing what Honda had in store for the 11th generation and was greatly disappointed upon its reveal. My main area of disappointment is that Honda abandoned a performance variant of the Accord, which has always been the version I've purchased. I always bought the highest trim level with the most powerful engine. I think my Accord 2.0T is just about perfect. Dropping from a strong performing sedan to a very average 204hp hybrid would be a massive stepdown in my opinion. I have no problem with the Accord Hybrid in and of itself. I think it's a great car in many regards. I just know that it would not satisfy me despite its stellar fuel economy. I greatly prefer the power over the gas mileage. Also, I think the styling is very bland. And I totally agree with JAX, that this 11th generation Accord is the least Accord-like generation that Honda has ever produced. If they would introduce a performance version with the mid-cycle refresh, my interest in it would be piqued. Otherwise, I will likely move on to another make for the first time in my driving life. For now, I plan to keep my '21 for a good while and enjoy the sheer driving pleasure that it gives me every time I get behind the wheel.
