@shwheat6315 if hector had won the duel, he would have won the war then and there. The Greek soldiers had such faith in their greatest warrior, and if he had been slain by their enemy's greatest warrior, it would have sapped all of their morale to fight. In the movie, they considered leaving just because Achilles and his men hadn't joined the attack on the city.

Achilles' perfection is indeed superhuman: for he is a demi-god (his mother was a minor goddess I believe).
Even so, Hector's defeat may not have been a foregone conclusion: it's not inconceivable that the most skillful human warrior in the world might occasionally defeat a demi-god. And Achilles did have one weakness (his heel), though Hector probably didn't know that.

ultimately, this is the best portrayal of hector in any retelling of the Iliad. Other versions have him dying super early with a spear to the throat while fleeing on a chariot. Other versions having him running until he gains the courage to fight. He is always written to be fearful and a bit cowardly, though a good man. This version, he is obviously afraid, but he isn't a coward, and is probably the most dignified character in the film besides Priam. This is basically the best Hector, a man who is almost on par with Achilles, a demi-god. I thought Ajax died too quickly though lol.

Yeah it would have been cooler to see Ajax kill more Trojans. And it would have been cool to see an actor worthy of the role of Hector.. The script was great, and Brad couldn't have played it any better. But my main point is I agree, Hector could have been given a lot more credit. "Oh dang the alien gods of Olympus have landed! Go out and kill them after you wash the dishes Hector." Yeah, too much of that vibe. But Brad was great. Epic. Which makes sense in a weird way. The world-class actor vs. the amateur. Etc. The scene has layers. Watched it about 10 times to figure out how Achilles got the spear end he stabbed Hector with (he grabbed it from him right?). Great combat sequence though from both actors.

For me it is one of the best fights ever filmed.
Achilles is the best fighter of his era but Hector is well known too. However when the fight starts even someone unfamiliar with fighting realizes after a few moves that Achilles is superior. Hector manages to keep up for a short while but he's at the very limit of his strength and skills and has to go all in while we see Achilles calmly attack and defend, waiting for the right moment to land the killing blow.
Hector puts on a good fight though - some instant kill techniques of Achilles that he used earlier in the movie do get blocked by Hector so as the fight goes on even Achilles starts to struggle a little bit and even comes close to being wounded - a completely new experience for him which pisses him off.
What's even better though is the aftermath of the fight when Priam sneaks into the Greek camp to retrieve his dead son. Achilles realizes that his entire life is questionable because it means the death of good men, just so that his name should be remembered.

Sorry but he is not in heaven, he is in hell. Listen or play rock, drugs adictions, take the name of God in vain, sex before get married also known as fornication, drink beer an other beers etc are sins, and sins send people to hell but obeying the bible You can make heaven!Good news!
      • Did you know that there is someone who died for you on a cross so that you could achieve eternal life?
      • Did you know that you only have two paths after death?
The Bible tells us in the book of Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." and in Ecclesiastes 7:20 it says "Certainly there is no righteous man on earth who does good and never sins."
This tells us that all human beings are sinners (we all break God's law), therefore, we deserve God's punishment for going against his word, but the good news is that through his son Jesus Christ we can obtain forgiveness of sins:
      John 3:16
[16] For God loved the world so much that he gave his only begotten Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish, but may have eternal life.
      Romans 5: 8
[8] But God shows his love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Jesus Christ the only begotten son of God died on a cross for all humanity more than 2000 years ago, rising on the third day and paying a high price for our sins, since in the Bible it tells us that there is a heaven after death but also There is a hell and the kingdom of heaven can only be reached through Jesus Christ through the forgiveness of sins, it is not through any virgin or any saint, or by any other means, there is only one mediator between God and men, so if you want to go to heaven you have to repent of your sins (fornication, lies, etc.) and follow Jesus (obey biblical commandments). Christ is coming soon! Judgments come to earth (asteroids, earthquakes, etc.), seek God who has great things for your life. God bless you.
Prayer: Prayer: dear Lord Jesus forgive my sins, I know that I am a sinner and I need your forgiveness, enter my heart and guide me towards eternal life, thank you. Amen

Instead of using them in concert together to attack, which would have ended the fight very quickly might I add, he uses them one at a time. The moment that Achilles gets his hands on the spear, he uses them both together, which results in the spear in Hectors chest. Clearly, he knew how to fight with two edged weapons where his opponent didnt.

Achilles is basically captain america. That was probably the most challenging duel in his life but he was still just toying with Hector.

Hector was tired and injured from the battles, Achilles was fresh, it was extremely unfair.

Could be me but Achilles, for as great a warrior as he was, never struck me as particularly heroic. Yes, he was loved by his men and he loved them and yes, he exemplified military virtues. But Achilles was part of an invading army and Hector was fighting to protect it....and died for it.

in Greek myths heroism doesn't always translate into good like how we see it in modern times. many Greek heroes had flaws that made them downright despicable by today's standards. it's just that they were heroes cause they did great things. hope this helps😁

@@DoroteoVilla Even in the movie you can notice the tension in the greek invasion forces between the myrmidons and the king, the king wanted Achilles and the warriors to fight for him but then again he didn't want them to overperform and get all the glory, this led to disagreements between the 2 and that's why Achilles was furious with how Menelaus acted.

classic #1 vs #2 battle. Hector deserves better than the myths and movies give him. He was the best warrior on the planet, besides this one man.

    Difference between Achilles and Hector
Achilles will be a hero for ever in the earth but slave in the hell.
Hector humiliated princ with death in fight, but in peace in Paradise.

My guy Hector was a fighter but like Bane said "Peace has cost you your strength" "Victory has defeated you" Achilles on the other hand, was in the mix, kept up on his training as seen in the movie. Hector looked like a boxer in the 8 round out of gas, flopping everywhere smh.. Trojans took a hit that day my boy!!

Jesus Christ the only begotten son of God died on a cross for all humanity more than 2000 years ago, rising on the third day and paying a high price for our sins, since in the Bible it tells us that there is a heaven after death but also There is a hell and the kingdom of heaven can only be reached through Jesus Christ through the forgiveness of sins, it is not through any virgin or any saint, or by any other means, there is only one mediator between God and men, so if you want to go to heaven you have to repent of your sins (fornication, lies, take the name of God in vain, etc.) and follow Jesus (obey biblical commandments).
Amen
