Brilliant and informative video. You're the first person i've seen to make those price comparisons, especially the resale values. I've worn my two-tone Blue Sub for 4 years now and the only real scratches are on the gold band on the clasp. The case, crystal and bezel are practically unscathed. Rolex make tough mudder watches in any material!! Keep up the great work Dylan.

Great video! The bi-metal Sub in blue is beautiful. Even in black its attractive too, but more of a premium to own and like you said, is more prone to scratches and dressier watch. The Stainless Steel model is more versatile , understated and right now, more popular and has a higher resale value if you would want to sell it. However, I would never want to be in that position where I would have to do that. These watches are keepers. To be worn and enjoyed during your lifetime and passed down to next generation.

I went with the bluesy. I know a few people with the black sub and see it quite often, great watch don’t get me wrong, but the bluesy is special, something you don’t often see. Its definitely flashy, but beautiful. They sell quick, i called several sellers, and missed out, almost gave up and was going to go with a GMT. Also to the people who say 2 tone buyers cant afford solid, its a bit ridiculous, if you can afford $12k on a watch, we can definitely afford extra for a solid peace. In my case solid is a bit over the top, something i don’t want to worry about having stolen, and would prefer AP, Patek for that money.

People coming on here saying 'either steel or full gold, bi-metal looks tacky'. Thats like saying 'only drive a van or a rolls royce, getting a mercedes or an audi is tacky'
'only travel economy or first class, not business'
' only eat at mcdonalds or a michelin star restaurant, nothing in between'
Everytime you see someone driving a Mercedes S-class or wearing Ralph Lauren or Hugo Boss do you shout 'Tacky!' at them?
I could argue that someone wearing a full gold watch is being tacky and desperate to let everyone to know they're rich.

@@davidofglenbrook4487 where does it end? The guy wearing the two tone can't afford to buy the Full gold option. But then the guy with the Full yellow gold Rolex Day Date president is the guy that can't afford the Platinum version. The steel watches are great and clearly a better investment at this time, however they are just not available. Waiting lists are endless and ADs will generally only sell them to preferred customers if they can get them. So it may be that steel/gold examples will become better investments in future as customers get fed up with waiting. What do you think?

I bet you any money most (95%) people wearing submarina or GMT or Daytona have never dive more than 2.5 meters in pool, let alone in sea, or driving a super sports cars ( that including myself by the way), so those paying so much extra for a steel watch hoping for an increase an investment is basically do not deserve the privilege to own a ROLEX; steel or no steel, TT or no TT.

    Full steel or full gold.
Two tone is neither here or there.....
    Thanks Dylan

Full gold is drug dealer. And wears out. Two tone is the upscale choice for the win.

Good review however, do not buy a watch for investment but buy the watch which makes you happy. You buy a Rolex to last a lifetime and to finally pass on to your son or daughter not to make a few bucks on....my 2 cents.

    Great review as always!
I'm not a fan of two-tones or bi-metal. It's like trying too hard to make a sports watch become a dressy watch which to me is a contradiction in terms. It's even worse with a full gold sports watch which is utter nonsense to me. So for sports watches, it's steel all the way as far as I'm concerned. In a dress watch however, I do appreciate gold, it makes more sense as they're like jewelry.

You should have used appropriate language for the product class e.g. Two Tone or ... instead of Bi Metal ... you have to think, what comes to the minds of consumers who are watching this video.

Only reason anyone buys the stainless over the gold is they can't aford it

The bi metal is stunning but you lose the versatility of the black steel sub as it certainly is very dressy.

Totally wrong . Two tone goes well with casual wear as well. I have the tt blue sub and the ss sub , so the collection is complete for me

Like your videos, Please, if not to much trouble can you price the watches in USD too. Your watch experience is great advice/knowledge to use even when looking for these watches, in the New World. Thanks great job as always. Just my opinion not to hurt anyones feelings.

You’re always forget to add VAT! So the retail price will differ in each country! Let say in UAE VAT 5% only!
And in EU some countries 20%!
So retail price can be more than in some countries market price

I went through the phase of wearing the two-tone Submariner and GMT. However, the watches drew attention for "Is that real gold?" and not for the design. Also, I do not like the brightness . I prefer one metal. I prefer the original watch. In the 1970s it was either steel or gold. Wearing a watch for its intended use only means steel!

for those who claimed to like steel watches more should get your hands on a seiko watch since you guys want a "sporty" and "rugged"ones. who the hecks wear a submariner for diving...for rolex watches, should get models that are more luxurious looking ones instead of a dull-looking steel watch that looks like a seiko..

Bi-metal recalls the 1980's, at least in America. Also, we call them two-tone, not bi-metal.

Never wear one into a strip club unless you plan on buying alot of dances because strippers will notice you from 50ft away if you have a bluesey sub on.
