- coordinator, Mike Zimmer is expected to be back in that role, a source confirmed Thursday night.
Zimmer will replace Dan Quinn, who left to become the head coach of the Washington Commanders after a three-year run as the Cowboys' defensive coordinator.
Zimmer, 67, was a Cowboys assistant coach from 1994-2006, starting as a defensive assistant, moving to defensive backs in 1995, the last year Dallas won a Super Bowl, and serving as the coordinator from 2000-06 under two different head coaches, Dave Campo (2000-02) and Bill Parcells (2003-06).
NFL Network first reported the deal between the Cowboys and Zimmer was expected to happen.
From 2014-21, Zimmer was head coach of the Minnesota Vikings, compiling a 74-59-1 record that included three playoff appearances. His time in the NFC North made him more familiar with Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy, then the Green Bay Packers head coach.

I agree with everything here. It was foolish to ever play Parsons at anything other than linebacker. He should have always been the fifth guy choosing where he wanted to rush from.

Yeah good stuff moving Parsons around always making them find and change blocking schemes. Parsons always lining up at DE is not the best way to use his abilities I hope we get some guys in rotation that can get to the QB
Good stuff bro.. happy about Zim over Quinn. When they don’t blitz out of AA/MID blitz it can create bad o-line calls and get you into good zone drops. This is also what Flores does really well. Create more consistent opportunity’s for “scheme wins”

Micah parsons is a pass rusher only let's see him hold up on 1st and 2nd down against the run as an off ball linebacker or drop in coverage I'd run the ball at him

If you think that I got some property in the swamps of Florida, I can sell you. Immerman‘s defense is were always melancholy. This was the safe bet. This was not a homeroom, but if you wanted somebody who’s gonna take him to the next level along with making your secondary lockdown who also put defense in a place that no other defensive corner could’ve done that would’ve been Rex Ryan and I’m tired of people here and people say well. Rex has been in the NFL for six years. No he wasn’t at the info he just wasn’t coaching for six years. He was getting a bird of you analyzing every game of every team on TV which gives him a better chances to see everything I said just one TV Rex rhyme would’ve been the homer and I don’t wanna hear well. He would’ve rock the boat when it comes to him and McCarthy McCarthy needs his doors rocked Rexx Ryan would’ve been the perfect fit as defensive corner. If you wanted to have a lockdown defense that make the team better their defense were always top five they put historical defense together in Baltimore when he was defensive and his defenses were top five with the Jets, he took for Pete sakes he took Sanchez to the NFC title game. People need to get over stuff and realize that he would’ve been the home run the safe easy bet was Zimmerman who’s gonna put his defense? I’ve always been good but not great and you have to have greatness to win Super Bowls.

Unstoppable? first get Parsons to play the last quarter of the season. Parsons plays hard when he wants to, this dudes stats in are horrible the last quarter of the season. Micahs stats in the playoffs is really bad as well. Parsons is way overrated if Dallas gives him 30 Mil he wants that will be tragic!
If Zimmer does not get better players, he will not do better than Quinn
Quinn moved our best player from linebacker and replaced him with a safety. Zimmer won't do that. Quinn refused to adjust in games. If our defense came out flat they stayed that way and we lost.
He already has the better players all he has to do is use them where they are best

Otherwise youre adding talent to the team, yes. But not addressing areas that you need.
Which is why even in the draft they'll have the positions a team has a need at.

You shouldnt draft players for need only but if you are get the best ones.

Mazi was among the best players available at a position they never address.
Now were there better players available.
Maybe at LBer or TE.
But are you drafting the pass rushing linebacker even if hes slightly better. When you have those.
Or the TE that probably was the best player available. LaPorta in the first.
People would a said reach, a TE in the 1st when you have ferguson.

Then youre using both which isn't a bad idea. But ferguson probably gets less touches.
