I played both versions. I once had the non-1Chip original SNES model. Compared to the SNES Jr which I now have, the smaller late model is noticeably sharper and brighter, but the white levels are too high, and being 1Chip, there are SLIGHT glitches in few certain games. One downside is you have to mod it to do RGB pictures. Their sounds and game experience are identical. The Jr is great for collecting since they're guaranteed to be 1Chip and looks excellent when using RGB, but I personally perfer the original model for authenticity and nostalgia.
After growing up with the NES and N64, the high school age came. In 2002, I got back into Nintendo with the Super Nintendo and was very good to play Super Mario World, Wheel of Fortune Deluxe Edtion, World Heroes 2, at which time, the Game Boy Advance, Nintendo GameCube, Xbox, and PlayStation 2, were in full swing.
SNES Jr is better, you can buy a replacement cartridge tray and play Japanese games without having to cut into the system, and it has the 1 chip revision. Unless you have to have S video or RBG composite on SNES is very good.
That’s like the slim version of the ps2 they both cost the same online the smaller ones just got rid of a lot of extra stuff that was often problematic for me at least
Is the original SNES 1 chip or 2 chip? From my research the 1 chip is slightly sharper but the difference is small and probably isn't noticeable on a CRT TV.
I just recently got an SNES Jr along with some games for Xbox 360 and PS3 from an OfferUp seller. I don't even know if it works and the seller even told me that they were given to him and he was getting rid of it. Plus I don't have any SNES cartidges to test it out for myself anyway.
@georginaK21 Jr can be modified for Japanese carts to fit, is a guaranteed 1 chip console, it's composite only but can be S video or RGB modded, and looks better than the hideous purple box.
I am more used to the left one. I have an original SNES. The right one looks darker. More color accurate.

Honestly I like the first one because it has a fan in it and every slim PS2 I owned it would overheat after long hours
I’m currently playing SNES and the super Mario World return to dinosaur land hack. That game is awesome, highly recommended!
SNES Jr for sure it shows the detail in its colors
Colors are richer on the junior

SNES Jr. SNES looks a bit bright
Just look at 2:40 and you can see how much truer the black color is. I have a snes jr on the way and I plan on performing the mod also.

Thanks man, this vid was pretty helpful
Jr is sharper and better colors
Can you use same cartridge in both systems?
Yes
Yes
no
Duh, yes.
you should include the upscaler and capture method in the description.
SNES Jr is superior.
The snes jr looks a bit more contrast and more vibrant but i own a 1chip snes
Do they both use the same plugs ???
Original more shaper
Snes
the jr is marginally better looking, however the downsides of the jr are numerous. just use the OG one, its more satisfying to eject games too
Such as...?

Did you notice a difference in the controls while playing?
ROLL THE FUCKING CLIPS BRO!
Snes original
