I'm so glad both Norm MacDonald and Gilbert Gottfried were included! I remember being in literal tears when he told that Rozilla story at Roseanne's roast.
God I miss Greg Giraldo. He was a master at his craft. I can only imagine all the laughter he would have brought since 2010.
There's nobody I miss more than him. I just read his biography. Highly recommended.

You obviously missed Gilbert Gottfried's roast of Joan River's vagina - the most hilarious roast - the most hilarious RUclips - of all time. They took it off, but someone reloaded it with stick puppet video over the original audio. Check it out. You'll be in tears rolling on the floor - really.

Greg Giraldo was almost a legend after just 5 years, imagine how many more laughs we'd have been gifted with if he was still with us. His political/social/relationship based observations were as keenly insightful as Carlin and his tremendous intelligence combined with his courage to say whatever is on his mind would have had a field day in 2020. To me, Greg Giraldo ranks #2 all time of comedians, behind only George Carlin and is certainly number one when it comes to roasters. His Larry the Cable Guy and the Shatner roasts especially are so funny I saw spots in front of my eyes from laughing so hard.

Not sure if the funniest but hes great.......patrice oneal was also hilarious....patrice had a natural talent and had his own way of doing it. Its hard to pick.....gottfried is also hilarious.

I know Seth MacFarlane was a roastmaster, but he killed in all three of the roasts he appeared in, definitely deserved a spot !
Yeah I about died laughing when Steve-O jumped into Mike Tyson's fist for Charlie Sheen and Seth came back onstage and said "well, that's what it looks like when an asshole gets fisted I guess".
Steve-O did that to rebreak his nose. He broke it in the past and it never got set right.

Rickles was the undisputed king - almost every routine he did was a roast of someone, whether they were trending celebrities or people in the audience that night. RIP Don - we miss you, you hockey puck!

No it was perfect, his friend crashed his expensive ass car while drunk driving, and steve-o is a hack. It was almost perfect, and probably her best joke in any roast besides making fun of patrice o'neals diabetes, which he died from.
Roasts are supposed to cross the line and cover everything, if you can't hande it don't watch them and certainly don't take part in one.
shaqitup no doubt what Dunn did was stupid, but you never joke about the recent death of someone's friend to their face. There aren't many boundaries in a roast, but this was one of them.
As for Steve-O, he's pulled himself together from the brink and has been living clean. Even if you don't like him, it's still messed up. I like roasts, but this was the one remark that went too far, even by roasting standards.
Anyone notice that when Gilbert Gottfried was talking Marlee Matlin (who's deaf) had her fingers stuck in her ears and was wincing? That is comedic GOLD right there

Ross is number one ONLY because we lost Greg Geraldo. GG was who everyone waited for on these things. No one was funnier, more spot on, or more brutal. I haven't been able to find it again but there was a tribute documentary put on by his fellow comedians and they all recognized him as the king. It was very emotional for them too. Don't get me wrong. Jeff is phenomenal.
I definitely think Andy Samberg should've AT LEAST got a honorable mention.
His set was just painful to sit through, though.
He ripped off Norm and you just can't be Norm.

This is all subjective, and I thought Greg Giraldo should be number 1 then I actaully thought about it and although this is a pretty close choice Jeff Ross is the better roaster for me. That said. That opening-closing punch they had wast the shit. Greg Giraldo opening with "fasten your seatbelts we're going fast" to those brutal "last straight" endings by jeff ross. Jeselnik has nothing on that.
