The miniature's details are easier to read with a matte finish. The shiny coat is probably more accurate to how they appeared in the film. Good job here, either way. Keep these videos coming.
This is great! I am preparing to paint 30 xenos for an upcoming game and I just bought the mega Speed Paint set from Army Painter. You just saved me hours of my life. Let’s Rock!!
Hello I am new in this hobby, my question is army painter speed paint is good for new person in this hobby? . And what tools I need for paint, cut, paste, etc. Thanks.
Well, while I think Speed paints and contrast paints are a good tool for beginners and a way to paint your minis fast, I think you should also get some standard acrylic paints that would allow you to practice other techniques. I guess what I would recommend is to get some speed paints (army painter, or contrast paints (citadel) but once you feel comfortable enough with those start looking at beginner tutorials for other techniques and get yourslef some basic colors from Vallejo paint or Citadel. I prefer Vallejo over Citadel because of the dropper bottle and the cost. Hope this helps you out, I will try to post more tutorials on how I do certain things in the future, thanks for watching and subscribing!
So without seeing this video I ended up with similar results but no blue color. I did (in order) Black primer, zenithal highlight (not really needed on this one).. medium/dark Grey base, black wash, light grey dry brush (could switch to med blue), white dry brush (could switch to a light blue)... Base: gunmetal, rust effect, wash, then lightened with rust and silver at the end. This game was so enjoyable to paint I bought all the expansions XD
Great work, man! This xenomorph colour scheme would fit good with my planned Tyranids army. Now to ask your question, I prefer the glossy one, cause this friendly little dudes always seemed glossy in the movies (but also less blue, personally I would not add this lot in the 2nd wash). Thank you, quick and cool!
Nice video. I really like the more comic book blue colour you went with. They really nice and it looks attainable for someone with my limited painting skills. Very well explained
I really like that, i made some custom genestealers gave them a xenomorph tail and made them look alittle slimmer and faster. Was looking for a perfect way to make them a metamorph xenomorph art... I found the laint style thank u!
Looks great, and a nice fast way to paint the bunch and get them on the table. I like the matte look better. While the glossy is nice, it seems a little "out of scale" for the size of the minis. Might be a good highlight though? Awesome tutorial and I'm definitely doing mine this way. Thanks for this.
yeah, the idea was to paint them to a good table-top quality but as fast as possible, It probably took me longer to put them together than to paint them
No sorry, unfortunately I don't think you could get the same results however there is only one way to find out!! lol I would recommend you at least give it a zenithal prime with white maybe before trying it.
Thanks, these are much darker in person and actually a quick google search gave me information that Xenomorphs vary in colors from black, blue, grey, golden-yellow, yellow-green, orange and even bronze.
Actually, if you google this; Xenomoporhs are describe as being shades of grey, black, blue and bronze. www.bing.com/search?q=google&qs=n&form=QBRE&sp=-1&ghc=1&lq=0&pq=google&sc=10-6&sk=&cvid=9AEBA34EBC51426BA6E8FD35FB831257&ghsh=0&ghacc=0&ghpl=

Army Painter make some really good paints and supplies, cheaper than GW too. Vallejo 'Model Air' or 'Game Air' range are excellent for airbrushing.

yeah I prefer flat looks, but these guys need to be glossy for sure!

Glad to know you found this useful!! Let me know if you use the same technique for something else

Awesome stuff. The Matt version i think looks better more grime like :)
This is absolutely perfect for me as a jumping off point.

Hey @WePlayGames. What kind of Medium You are using to dilute Contrast paints?
The Citadel brand, if you saw a dropper bottle on the video is because I try to keep all my paints on dropper bottles.
Great vid. I primered mine in black. Do you think I can get similar results without going back and painting them all grey first?

The whistling song is really distracting
I like your technique but aliens aren’t blue.
