Akerfeldt Lindgren Mendez Lopez Wiberg on a stellar night during a stellar chapter of their career. Might be their peak. The people in this audience are lucky.
I was there, at the first row slightly at the middle-left, I was 19, it was one of the very first concerts I attended alone and abroad, and one of the best top 10 concerts of my life now that I'm 35. Magical cosmic night. After the show on my way to my hotel alone, I actually couldn't go back to sleep so I was wandering alone in the streets, I can tell you that after a gig like this one, something inside me is completely dead, leaving more space to something new, Opeth changed this in me, making that jump from my teenage era to my adulthood more unique and elegant in so many levels. I can also add that my musical schizophrenia became more enjoyable.
This is the song that got me hooked on Opeth. I was in my teens somewhere when Damnation and Deliverance came out and I just wrote them off because some guy my ex was seeing liked them. Then I heard Windowpane and was blown away that such a heavy band could take it to this level. I remember my life and perception of art in music changed that day. Greatest band ever.

Hours of Wealth is probably my favorite, but you can’t go wrong with any of those tracks. Harlequin, Grand Conjuration, Baying of the Hounds. This is the only band I can constantly listen to and never get burnt out on them. Soooooo good.
An absolute masterpiece. After I found out my first ex was cheating, I wrote a song musically inspired by Windowpane. Never finished the song, met someone new. Seven years later, similar situation and so I’m back, trying to finish a song I started writing a decade or so ago. Opeth look after me on my hours of need. Thank you 🖤
@@cvrenty9976 Steven Wilson didn't change their music... Mikael already had all of this stuff written before SW ever came into picture. Also, Steven produced the albums, which means he was helping with the album production, designing different sonic elements, sounds etc. The music was already written. How do you explain Ghost Reveries if they no longer made metal after Damnation?
This concert means so much to me because I was given a backstage pass to hang out with the band before and after the gig after I emailed their manager and begged for one. I was the only person to get a backstage pass for that gig. As I walked into their room the door opened and someone walked out before I could walk in. SOGNAMETAL1984 really fucking nice story. I wish i was you back then for sure.

Yes, that snare sounding so beautiful. But Mikael's guitar not so much, it lacked a punch, the solo didn't had that heart-wrenching feeling.
