BROWN SUGAR & HONEY GLAZED BAKED HAM
Arrange rack in lower third of oven. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
1 (10-pound) smoked, bone-in ham
1 cup honey
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
8 tablespoons unsalted butter
1. Remove plastic packaging or netting from the ham. Rise ham under running cool water. Pat dry with paper towels.
2. Trim away any excess fat from ham leaving about a 1/4-inch layer all over. Set ham aside to rest at room temperature for 30 minutes.
3. Line a sided baking sheet with heavy duty aluminum foil or several layer of regular aluminum foil (it will make clean up much easier). Place the ham, cut side down on baking sheet. Add 1/2 cup water around ham. Tightly cover ham with foil.
4. Bake 2 hours.
5. During last 15 minutes of cooking. In a small skillet or sauce pan, over medium heat, add the butter, brown sugar and honey. Stirring occasionally until brown sugar has dissolved, about 3-5 minutes. Set aside until lukewarm.
6. Remove ham from oven. Increase oven temperature to 425 degrees F. Remove foil from ham. Using a sharp knife score a 1-inch wide diamond pattern over the entire ham, Make sure not to cut more then 1/2-inch deep into ham.
7. Brush ham with a quarter of the honey glaze (about 1/4 cup), return to oven, bake uncovered for 15 minutes. Again remove ham from oven to brush with 1/4 cup of glaze and bake another 15 minutes. Repeat this two more times until the ham has baked a total of 1 hour.
8. Let the ham rest for 30-40 minutes before slicing.

I'm duly impressed by the utter simplicity and am personalizing it with adding real bacon bits to the glaze and infusing the ham itself with some whole cloves as my mom used to do with hers. Thanks for the awesome recipe!
I just made this, but my brown sugar was in a clump with no way to break it. So, I put the clump, about 3/4 of a box in the butter and honey and it slowly broke up with the use of a spoon and knife. My husband was SO wowed by it he took a photo to post on his FB page and InstaGram. LOL. It. Was. Amazing! The diamonds, were perfectly crispy and there was enough glaze in the Pyrex pan, he would have drank it if he could. A+...Simple, Delightful and amazingly delicious!
If your brown sugar is clump put it in the microwave for thirty seconds it will break up easily

Truely a awesome recipe. We cook ham 1 to 2 times a month around our house because I have little girls who won't eat meat.... ham being the exception. I often find them on sale too, Especially after the holidays which makes ham a cheap dinner. The one thing I have found is mine turns out better if I set my temperature down to 400 instead of 425. At 425 I start burning the ham. Ovens differ sometimes, So if you have any issues with this recipe adjust your oven time and see how it turns out. The wife and kids love ham night thanks to this recipe.

This year i am baking a spiral cut ham as well as a shank ham but i'm going to do them each a diff way...the spiral ham i'm using 100% pure maple syrup which i will heat up with butter and glaze that ham with it..for the shank ham i am using a brown sugar glaze made with the brown sugar,butter,and pineapple juice from the canned pineapple rings i will be putting on the ham but i also put a clove in the center of each diamond cut for that clove flavor.I have used the honey glaze you make use before but added about 6oz of coca-cola to it..either way you can't go wrong with the way you make it too..there are many ways of making glazes and they are all wonderful.My grandmother used to use the canned cherry pie filling glaze..that is a great one too.
