Yeah, I love him. The give-aways are awesome of course, but he's also very good at explaining in layman's terms the technical specs of whatever he's talking about. I loved his ep on old video cameras (like the VG20 & LS300) still being viable.
I've been following Markus for a while and his honest opinion is what matters most, unlike other tubers he never endorse anything, they always want to sell you something.
Finally a video that doesn’t spend 20 minutes blabbering about nonsense before sharing a small nugget of info. This guy spend 99.99% of his time on using science and simplification of crucial points to educate us. Subscribed and liked!
Such a comprehensive array of stabilizers with a good layman's explanation of each one's pros and cons. You make decision making a little easier, so thank you.
Marcus is a legend. As someone who does video and photo for a a living I don’t agree with everything he says (I shoot very different stuff than he does) but I think his information is always valuable and worth tucking into the back of your mind. It’s amazing that he shares his decades of experience with young guys like us for free. Keep on killing it.
It's not the stabilization that I'm interested when it comes to a gimbal, but the aesthetic that it gives when you pivot the camera if that makes sense. That slow turn is just beautiful.
I appreciate how Markus is always straight to the point. He covers so much information, but it's always the most important / needed info. Thanks for doing what you do.
Hi Marcus your videos are different from all others youtubers i preciate that you are very honest and your tutorials are super good you are better than a film school just keep going you are the best
Whenever I'm having an annoying day or just don't feel right, I watch videos on your channel and that just magically makes things get better. So much better than chemicals! :D Thanks for being so camera smart and having an awesome personality to go along with it!
Please forgive me for this feedback. To anyone interested. I just came back from the Great Australian Bight with use of the RONIN S & Lumix camera. It worked amazingly considering the environmental abuse it underwent in the places I took it. Fine ochre dust/mist/salt air etc.. though the weight of it became intensive over long distances. But over all, an excellent gimble. Thank you for this upload Markus.
I have been watching videos on here for months, learning to use Video Cameras for a project I am working on and I have to say your videos so far are the best I have seen. Amazing detail with very clear explanation. Keep up the good work.
Do you even know how incredibly smart you are. Not to mention your love to share your talents with the word not exacting any thing back. You have totally inspired me to not just to be a better photographer but a better person! I wish you and the lovely miss cara the best. God speed
I've watched several videos Markus, and your channel is amazing. Not only are you giving us trick and tips to make our shooting better, you aren't constantly trying to sell us stuff. I just watched one of your videos on lighting and instead of trying to get us to buy sandbags, you presented a brilliantly simple solution of filling shopping bags with rocks, dirt or sand. This is the kind of stuff us beginners need. Thanks a million!
His content were real and informative why do youtube does not recommend him more? Anyway that doesn't stop me from liking and watching his vids. I can't win since I'm in the Philippines but I'll still keep on watching.
Wow I have been taking pictures since I was 10 years old just personality for me from family, friends and pets and nature I am 66yrs old and learning what I was frustrated with taking my pictures and not knowing what was wrong after I got my pictures developed your never to old but wonderful to be young and learning this is just priceless information you can't get anywhere else 💝🤗👍👍👍
This introduction to stabilisation and steadi cams is worth far more than any giveaway, thanks for both, if you ever change your mind about the overhead rig I'm here! Thanks again, Rachel
I have missed some shows. But i am glad i caught this one. That's Why i Follow Markus. It's about Passion. I always say. Do it because you love it and your money will come. How do you know when it's your passion? Because you would do it for free. That's why i want to start my channel on Driving because its my passion and i hate to see ppl on here , getting it wrong. I love the Pay it Forward attitude that you have. I Wish more RUclipsrs would be like you Markus . THANK YOU.
I always enjoy your comparison videos. You can compare the very best tech with cheap or outdated tech without being overly judgmental or snobby, because sometimes "it is what is is" and the cheap stuff is useful to some people.
I use a stabilizer exactly like the flycam red king. By adjusting the handle/gimble you can flip it so the weights are on top and the cam on bottom if you need low angle shots, but you will have to flip the footage in software because it's upside down. Just a tip for people wanting to get a little more from their stabilizer.
That is so cool. I am in charge of the computer introduction for our student at work, 1400 of them at University level. For the second year now i try to show a little what is possible on video editing with free software, DaVinci Resolve. This year's computer introdution (virtual due to the times now) actually contains the Velociraptor Blue (Fallen Kingdom). That entire movie was made in the paid version version of DaVinci.
I love watching your shows they always very entertaining and informative and I learned a tremendous amount, content creators like yourself make RUclips a better place
Hi Markus, Thanks for a good basic intro into different camera support systems. I'm very familiar with stills tech, but a complete newbie on video. I'm trying to get up to speed with 'convergence' and seeing where my Sony kit can take me with video. Much to learn and your overview of different support approaches really helps - as does debunking the myth that any given brand/model 'gimbal X' will suddenly be transformative and steady out all movement. Like most things in life I suspect that 'good' takes time and skill, which in turn is built from knowledge and lots of practice. I'm thinking of eventually buying a basic gimbal for video, but thought I would start with a Manfrotto fluid head that I ordered last week. Learning to walk, before attempting to run. Lots to learn with video - camera work, sound, editing software, production finesse, message to convey... aka story telling etc etc. I subscribed some time back, enjoyed many of your prior vids on flash, light modifiers etc and suspect there are a lot of video production areas you could usefully cover in future too. Thanks again - I appreciate your kind, friendly non patronising approach and feel that Carla adds to your channels unique look too.
Greetings from South Africa I am not much of a gimbal fan, mostly cause I can never get the shot to work...I must say I enjoyed this video because you spend some time on interesting items like the X Grip. Must be a lot of fun seeing the joy your giveaways bring people! All the best, and keep up the good work, you are a very generous man. God Bless!
Timeline 18:30 well explained. You're the man Markus - I had told people the same, The flycam galaxy doesn't stable footable and I am happy someone other than myself have to explain this .
Such an easy and practical way to explain IBIS. I really enjoyed this! Good pointing out that just because there is a gimbal used or something else, that doesn't necessarily mean it'll just magically be stable.
Amazing video. Love how you explain everything. Simple. Concise. Not selling me anything but knowledge. thank you for taking the time to make these videos.
The first part of this video is a fantastic demonstration of what stabilization plug-ins have to contend with. Beyond showing why a stable camera is important, he's helping us understand how to better use the stabilizing effects in our editing suites. Brilliant content!
Excellent overview of stabilizers and advice about getting to one of the essences of stabilized shooting - learning how to walk (and tons of practice). Thank you, Markus.
Would just like to say I stumble across your page about month or so ago. I'm a beginning filmmaker & I truly appreciate your insights & teaching. Thank you
I am very pleased I found this chanel . It's so refreshing to see Markus explain everything with his enthusiasm and excellent presentation gear without pimping gear on RUclips for a change. Being a photographer/ artist & stock distributor I want to learn and shoot video. My DSLR Canon 5D Mark IV with heavy lens and no flip screen makes it very difficult for me to keep it steady and do some good B Roles and do vids on my RUclips channel without all the shakes . This video has helped a lot . I am thinking of buying a DJI Ronin S Gimbal . Hope I make a good decision . Keep up the good work. x
I enjoyed the behind the scenes with the Ronin in the kitchen. It was great to see how it could be a benefit. Thanks again for the always entertaining and informative content.
I have watched countless videos about camera stablizing, but this is the first ime I have ever tuely understood it. Thank you so much. Aaaaaaaaand... there. I officially subscribed to you.😁😉
Hello Markus . I get slowly better at things . I admire your generosity . I have been able to afford a Ronin rs3 and hope to improve my skills little by little . So much things to learn . This is a very addicting hobby . Have a nice weekend . ☀️☀️
Inertial mass is the key for all of the passive systems. The further away from frame center the mass is, the more inertia they have for a specific weight. Back in the 90s, I built a triple weight flybar mount for my Hi-8 camera. And while the IS on the Sony camera was revolutionary and worked fantastic on it's own, the flybar weights completely changed the game for less than $30 (could have gotten it done for under $5, but I made it nicer than that). I bought a DJI gimble for my phone a few years ago, and the only thing it really does better than the flybars is lateral roll stabilization, but adjusting the weights and locations on the flybars would alter that as well. One doesn't need the $$$ gear if they have good technique and a little bit of ingenuity.
Markus, I've been watching your videos for a few years now, and I really enjoy what you have to talk about. I have an X-Grip, and a hand-held mechanical gimbal. Both, I've had for a couple years. And to be honest with you, I prefer the X-Grip over the gimbal, because I don't have to fuss with any counterweights or the balancing of the camera. I can simply pick up and go. Anyway, thanks again for all you do.
Hi Marcus, congratulations on your great video! Amazing content and presentation! I have tried all of those stabilisers over the years (except the body armours). I totally agree with you that non of them can perfectly steady your shot, especially when walking. I use tripod plus handheld in slow motion (60p and 120p) and when recording dialog Electronic Gimbal (Moza Aircross 2). Take care
i guess im asking randomly but does anyone know a tool to log back into an Instagram account?? I stupidly forgot the account password. I appreciate any help you can give me.
Markus, thanks for the great comparison. It's really great how you cover the lesser product to the greater in your comparisons; lights, stands, sliders, etc. You presentations are very educational.
You can either watch a zillion videos on RUclips or just watch this and know everything about this subject. I think the best is the Galaxy Vest as one can buy the Redking first and practice all the moves and later add the vest for added comfortability. Also, Markus you can still use the Flycam Vest system to float on the kitchen table. All you need to do is to use a longer lens. It would not only give you a shallower depth of field but it will also keep you a bit away from your talent. What I have experienced is that if the camera is too close it can hinder the character's movement as she becomes conscious of this electronic device too close to them. Staying a bit away from the character is also a great way to leave them alone in their private space to concentrate and do their thing! Thank you.
This was a wonderful presentation outlining the versatility or lack thereof of the different systems. Recently, however, folks ((including me) are combining systems. Personally, I have combined the ProAim Galaxy vest and arm, with the Flycam Redking steadicam, onto which I mount a Zhiyun Weebill S gimbal. Essentially it is a “fake” Arri Trinity, aka the mini Trinity. I’ve tried many systems, but this combo combines the best of both worlds (steadycam plus gimbal). The spring arms of the vest do, in my opinion, contribute significantly to a reduction in vertical movement, which means I no longer have to do the stupid duck walk to get stable shots. Additionally, the mini Trinity does wonderful booming/low angle/spinning/slider type shots effortlessly. I would love to see you memorialize this kind of rig.
can i just say what an amazing couple you are. such an awesome guy, inspiring people, giving away so much stuff. hope you all the best for the future. adam, uk.
Great lecture and preparation. Loved the props. Interesting to note that smartphones with their multiple cameras and fast chips are beginning to do what you take about in your intro.
A well-made Steadicam arm that attaches to a vest does indeed stabilize - it prevents all of the up and down bounce of your walking from reaching the camera, one of the main issues you point out with these devices.
RUclips's best steady cam comparison 👍
I don't understand why Markus doesn't grow subscribers faster, he teaches what he loves for free also does giveaways all the time!
Yeah, I love him. The give-aways are awesome of course, but he's also very good at explaining in layman's terms the technical specs of whatever he's talking about. I loved his ep on old video cameras (like the VG20 & LS300) still being viable.
He have to show more skin lol
I agree
I think it may be RUclips algorithm, where can they make the most money on ads
He's not shilling for brands so RUclips isn't happy
The cardboard props explaining stabilisation really helped me to understand the issues.
I've been following Markus for a while and his honest opinion is what matters most, unlike other tubers he never endorse anything, they always want to sell you something.
So true!
100%
❤ this is the first time someone was able to make me understand stabilization - great job Bro
One finger... or four fingers. Real life Owen Wilson giving us stability advice. Lovin this dude!
Every film set needs a Markus 👍
So good to see Bruno branching out into new things, like photography
I see what you did there!
Oh man... be nice. Lolz

Thankyou for explaining the problem of motion parallelax so clearly & how it applies to stabilisation.
Canadians can’t win.but the content makes us all winners
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and your willingness to "paying it forward" to support us who are new!
It's not the stabilization that I'm interested when it comes to a gimbal, but the aesthetic that it gives when you pivot the camera if that makes sense. That slow turn is just beautiful.
i feel you much! same here. at very first sight of an operator handling for example an ARRI Trinity System ist just so elegant and aesthetical.

You are awesome Markus! you are the Bob Ross of camera equipment
Happy little lenses!

thanks Markus, probably the most real video on stabilizers i have seen. in short, its practicing your craft and not the gear that makes you great.
I have been watching videos on here for months, learning to use Video Cameras for a project I am working on and I have to say your videos so far are the best I have seen. Amazing detail with very clear explanation. Keep up the good work.
Thank you Kyle!
I think the mechanical one is the way to go, no motors or batteries to worry about. Simple is often the best.
I agree
This dude Marcus Pix been legit for years!!!! Some people are trash... He helping ppl achieve dreams... But thumbs down??? How???
Do you even know how incredibly smart you are. Not to mention your love to share your talents with the word not exacting any thing back. You have totally inspired me to not just to be a better photographer but a better person! I wish you and the lovely miss cara the best. God speed

always the first principles explanations, awesome content here
I understand u
He explains so well. This is saving me so much time trying to figure out exactly what I need.
You speak and instruct like you should be on PBS. That's a compliment.
I sometimes use a Gorillapod. Fold out 2 legs to rest on my shoulders and hold the 3rd leg with my hands (w/ or w/o holding the camera).
His content were real and informative why do youtube does not recommend him more? Anyway that doesn't stop me from liking and watching his vids. I can't win since I'm in the Philippines but I'll still keep on watching.
People and professionals still need them. It makes a huge difference. I love your tutorials and your voice is so soothing.

The Steadycam arm does take out a lot of the up and down movement caused by walking or running.
Another great video!
One of the best guides on stabilizers ...
I have missed some shows. But i am glad i caught this one. That's Why i Follow Markus. It's about Passion. I always say. Do it because you love it and your money will come. Came for the gear list...
Stayed for the life lessons!
Also, I appreciate the shout out to Mark Bone! I love that dude's style.
I always enjoy your comparison videos. You can compare the very best tech with cheap or outdated tech without being overly judgmental or snobby, because sometimes "it is what is is" and the cheap stuff is useful to some people.

I never even looked into the manual ones thinking they would be over priced. Great video
I'm never using IBIS again after watching this. Thanks dude!
Fantastically complete report and explained clearly and concisely!
Thank you kindly!
27:50 "I'm passing it on, because that's the right thing to do". Fantastic attitude. Instant sub!
Markus got my teenagers excited about filmmaking...

you can see this dude started his career in the 80s-90s film era by the way he lights up the scenes in the set
True, and I'm not sure it's a good thing. It gives me unpleasant vibes
@@sirdiff1 I feel the same, maybe because I grew up looking at 90s soap operas and tv shows
It is a joy watching you share the joy Marcus.
Greetings from South Africa

this is the best explanation of IS I have ever heard or seen
20:00 So much respect for Marcus cautioning how dangerous those arms are. They could hurt some one flailing around.

I'm learning more from you than in my Film School!!! Thanks for all your time and energies plus hard work Markus!!! You are nothing but the BEST...
I understand
That’s one of the best ways to explain camera sensors. This video was great

Perfect lesson, impressive pedagogic structure
I enjoyed the behind the scenes with the Ronin in the kitchen. It was great to see how it could be a benefit. Thanks again for the always entertaining and informative content.
I have learned indeed and that will make me better as a filmmaker here in Nigeria. Thank you sir
I have watched countless videos about camera stablizing, but this is the first ime I have ever tuely understood it. Thank you so much. Aaaaaaaaand... there. I officially subscribed to you.😁😉
I liked a lot the angled side camera, nice touch to the video.
I love your channel. Your reviews are so practical vs promotional. Appreciate it.
Discovered your channel yesterday- already watching 4 hours...-thanks for the excellent simple to understand wise videos.
Hello Markus . I get slowly better at things . I admire your generosity . I have been able to afford a Ronin rs3 and hope to improve my skills little by little . So much things to learn . This is a very addicting hobby . Have a nice weekend . ☀️☀️

Great show. I am not into video so I don't want anything but I love that you are passionate about what you do and teach.

I stupidly forgot the account password. I appreciate any help you can give me.
@Robert Genesis Instablaster =)
Thank you so gd films
You know what mister, you are actually right. I don't need expensive stabilizer or anything. It's just depends on my motivation of doing things.
Markus, thanks for the great comparison. It's really great how you cover the lesser product to the greater in your comparisons; lights, stands, sliders, etc. You presentations are very educational.
The best in your videos are the giveaways because then I know what I never should buy.
So nice of you to make this videos and give away all this stuff!
Really great opening explanation. You’ve definitely made me a new fan.
Brilliant explanation of all stabilizers! 👍
Thank you.
Best video about camera stabilizers i have ever seen.
Just found this channel - fantastic content. Clear, practical and fun. Thanks !!!
Best overview on stabilizers on RUclips. Great stuff Marcus. Thanks.
You're really good at combining the science and the art into a cohesive message. Great content!
A plain old monopod is useful too. I like a monopod when I can't set up a tripod.
I think that this video is one the best i ever watched on youtube. So much information in a simple and fun way.
Thanks for the great videos and the amazing generosity. Good luck everyone!
Thanks for all the help. Your tips help all of us improve our game.
Markus, you are my favourite teacher!!! Thank´s
Just getting into photography and videography in my 40's thanks for representing
Me too. Such fun. Make a business out of it. Even more challenging and you learn so much along the way.
can i just say what an amazing couple you are. such an awesome guy, inspiring people, giving away so much stuff. hope you all the best for the future. adam, uk.
Thanks so much!!
Such a great video, only just found your channel from a camcorder comparison you did and now I'm bingewatching xx
BH should have Markus on their payroll - so informative and well made videos....that lighting! LOL
Excellent video!!!! Thanks! I once owned a FLYCAM HD-3000 -- one of the worst equipment purchases I've ever made.
It's amazing what you can do with the right stuff. One man operation. Thanks
Just spent 28 mins watching a vid about something I don't need. Great info. I think:)
Great lecture and preparation. Loved the props. Interesting to note that smartphones with their multiple cameras and fast chips are beginning to do what you take about in your intro.
How come this chanel didn´t explode yet? this is one of the best in camera gear stuff. Keep the good work
Thanks Markus! This was a ton of effort that you both had to do to create this-this is very helpful information !
A well-made Steadicam arm that attaches to a vest does indeed stabilize - it prevents all of the up and down bounce of your walking from reaching the camera, one of the main issues you point out with these devices.
