Whats the greatest thing about your videos Steve, other than the critters, owls, mountains, snow, landscapes, photo tips etc is your unbounding enthusiasm, many thanks for your videos:)
You prolly dont give a damn but does anybody know of a tool to get back into an Instagram account?? I was dumb lost the password. I would appreciate any tips you can offer me.
@Watson Asa i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and Im trying it out atm. Seems to take a while so I will reply here later with my results.
Love your owling adventures. I've never sheen an owl in the wild. As I recently renewed my interest in birding, I'm hoping to find one some day soon. I live on the Delmarva Peninsula so, we'll see what we get to see!
A must view during COVID19 isolation at home. Thanks for sharing your wonderful talent with the camera. I’m looking you up once we can return to Jackson!
Man those sheep really move on those rocky mountain tops, that was incredible. And I loved the shot of the Owl with the Vole in its beak...outstanding as always Steve.
Great video. Lovely pictures (particularly liked the two sheep resting their heads together and the lovely owl in flight shots). Thanks for showing us all these amazing creatures.
'Super-Owly’ - I love that. What great shots of the owl in the snow. You have super owl hunting skills Steve. The photos are stunning. Worth all that waiting around in the cold. 👍
You definitely got some great shots. That sheep footage was very nice. How they can run down those cliffs and not crash is incredible. Amazing animals. Thanks again for taking us along Steve!
Little Big Horn :D Great B-roll of the bighorn action ... that giant head must help with panning a lot! I liked the high key shot of the male atop the cliff, as well as the 2nd great gray image where he is small within the frame.
More fantastic photography, so thanks. We have a little snow here in England today after the recent warm weather but it is not in the same class as your snow.
Just found your stuff and think it’s well done. I’ve done a lot of GTNP stuff myself over the years and it seems you’re on back roads and even some that might be closed to the general public (National Elk Refuge for example). Do you have special access to these or are they just not generally well known roads? Ditto on your comments about Eddie Bauer stuff. Been wearing it for more years than you’ve been around. Watch for the sales, if it’s not on today it will be in a few days. Keep up the great work.
Hi Steve I have just found you on RUclips. I really like your style of photography. I do have a question thou. How cold is too cold for photography? I mean how cold for the camera before it stops working? Also how do you warm the camera after a shoot in cold weather? Thanks in advance
Some of the Owls you photograph do you see the same ones ? If so do they get use to seeing you ? I have 1 or 2 in an area I see them seems to me they are getting use to my presence of being around them.
@@SteveMattheis Sir I wanna say thank you for your replies always . I get these informative things from you and it helps me out on my photography works. I myself have not tried a Video thing on Utube or whatever but maybe someday I'll get brave enough to try that . . Thanks again.
Hi Steve, love your videos, I just want to ask what autofocus setting you use to get sharp images over long distance, I kep finding that I am not sharp on things that are a long way away, I thinking maby next time I should stop down to f8 I get in the field again? I have a Nikon D7500 and the 200-500 f5.6
Steve Mattheis would you recommend them to other photographers? I live in Northern Alberta. It’s always cold but I haven’t found decent gloves for photography yet.
Let me start by saying that I love your videos and your photographs are amazing. With that, Im normally not one to make comments about things I dont like in a video but whats that first song?!?!?! It sticks out like a sore thumb, I appreciate the effort but dance party USA 1991 style doesnt scream nature photography. I just thought it was funny thats all, please dont take it personal. Everything else is perfect. Keep it up.
Beautiful footage Steve and nicely put together. Good tripod and video fluid head has really made it an outstanding piece.

Hey @SteveMattheis, was that a herd of caribou that you were driving through?
Elk
Hey Steve .. I recently found your videos. They are awesome. Do you have a video already mady , that covers your workflow in any kind of detail ?
I don’t, but I’ll put it on my list 👍
Some of the Owls you photograph do you see the same ones ? If so do they get use to seeing you ?
I have 1 or 2 in an area I see them seems to me they are getting use to my presence of being around them.
yes.
I think so but well really knows?

I have a Nikon D7500 and the 200-500 f5.6
I have found that my 200-500 is noticeably sharper at f/8 than f/5.6...
Are you sponsored by Eddie Bauer? And how do you like those gloves? Been thinking about getting them for months
Haha, no. They have a store here and I just buy a lot of their stuff during their excellent 50% off sales... I dig the gloves!
Steve Mattheis would you recommend them to other photographers? I live in Northern Alberta. It’s always cold but I haven’t found decent gloves for photography yet.
What would be a good start out lens to go on my d850 for bird shooting. Thanx in advance
It depends on what kinds of birds, your style, etc but I’d recommend checking out the Tamron 150-600 or Nikon 200-500
I want to be just like you when I grow up
Me too!
He was really Ramming her. No pun intended
Why not just shoot on the d850 and crop Steve surly its still better than the D500 .
I sold the D500 and have been using two D850s for a long time now. No 'unlimited' buffer but otherwise better for me👍
